Zach Ertz about to be traded? [Edit: or Not]

Recommended Posts

I guess all the cap estimates for Philadelphia didn't include the Carson Wentz trade.

So now the Eagles can play the waiting game, and hope one of the teams up their offer.

It's probably a smart play, because the TE cupboard is pretty bare on the free agent market.

And outside of Kyle Pitts (who is a Top 10 pick), this draft class isn't very good either.

And on that note, looking at the last 10 posts, we have 2 related to the topic and a 3rd related to football.   I do believe if Zach Ertz is actually traded or even released and signs elsewh

Yeah I looked up Brian Flores and apparently it shows that Josh Allen is his Father.

I could see a draft day trade. Ertz and 2nd for Tremaine Edmund's. Draft Zaven Collins at 30.

I bet the colts sneak in and steal him.  Reich and wentz get their man.

Not sure if we’re in the same context.  I’m talking about about after next season, when Mitchs contract expires.  Not this year.

do you think signing Mitch is doodoo?

Nope, I like the signing. To be more clear, I think Fromm is, was and will always be doodoo

Yeah, I agree, but I like Fromm.  I guess it because I watched his Netflix series when it came out and followed him at Georgia.

he’s just very limited as an nfl qb

They haven't had a good one since Ernie Warlick in the mid 60s. Metzellars was decent. But we have never had a really good one.

Just aside and to let some know that he really was decent, in 93-94 over 32 games Big Pete caught 117 passes for 1,037 yards and 9 TDs.

I could be wrong, but I believe it is the most successful two years of receiving by a Bills' TE in their 60 plus year history.

I honestly could live with 59 receptions, for 518 yards and 5 tds from a single TE next year, let alone that as a position I believe they caught around 40 balls this year (albeit 8 TDs).

Reuben Gant had 1054 yards and 7 Td’s over two seasons in a run heavy era, just to add to the debate.

And, I forgot, a 14 game season.

Love it, McD, love it.  Thank you for the add.

Oh, and honestly, he did have the dropsies and he was a first round pick  (Alabama?...Texas?  Oklahoma?!, I can't remember) that could have been better, BUT I always liked Rubes!

EDIT:  Okie St, 1974, 18th pick overall.

Rueben had terrible hands.  Great athlete but he dropped a lot of balls.

I think our best TEs are Metzellars and Warlick.

Keith McKeller had promise, but injuries and a short career.

Jay Riemersma wasn't too bad for a short time.

If we don’t get Ertz, I think it’s pretty obvious that we’ll be drafting a TE this year. I do think Knox will improve, I do like his potential and I do think Sweeney may actually turn out to be decent. But no Lee Smith, no Tyler Kroft, we clearly have an obvious void there. Would love Ertz.

After signing Trubisky and setting aside draft pick salaries, I think Beane is limited in his options. $8.25 cap impact is a lot of dinero.

People keep saying versions of this, but a trade for Ertz will necessarily include a contract extension, and there are ways that Beane can structure it do that Ertz is affordable this year (signing bonus, backloaded deal, etc).

Completely different tune from you about Fromm compared to the night he was drafted.  What changed?

I don’t think so, not necessarily. He could be a great developmental prospect. What would you do if you could sign a talent like Trubisky for $2.5M? Trubisky could potentially yield future draft picks if this plays out a certain way.

Maybe we draft  Pat Freiermuth from Penn State, definitely has potential as an athletic pass catcher.

is TJ Hockenson available? Also has he done anything in Detroit, he was a studd in college?
