For those trashing Josh Allen a cautionary tale

Josh had an up and down game but Cowboys fans where also trashing Dak Prescott even with their crazy skill talent claiming anyone could do what Dak did...as the Cowboys saw Monday night with Andy Dalton finding a franchise QB isn’t that easy heck the Jets are getting ready to already move from San Darnold careful what you wish for cause you may just get it

Every performance will always be broken down play by play and scrutinized.

 

I don't think you will find very many Bills fans actually trashing Josh Allen who is ranked in the top 5 in the NFL in almost every major category.

When I list the reasons why I'm worried about this team, I don't get to Josh Allen until I'm a good ways down the list.  Josh Allen is not the reason we lost the last two games.  There are some legitimate concerns going forward in Bills' Nation, Josh isn't one of them.

I think when he plays we'll it's warranted to give him the praise. Vice versa. The first 4 games he was the best two QBs in the league. The last two games he's at the bottom end of QB performances. I think quality of opponent has a lot to do with it. A QB will always be in the spotlight good or bad. Allen is young and talented. With that, comes the good and the bad. Not really sure how he ends up in the history books. With that said, I'm excited his

talent, growth, leadership, attitude, etc. I haven't been able to realistically say that about a Bills QB in many many years.

Not worried about josh. He’s not yet reached his potential and I love watching him go through the ups and downs that most great QBs go through.  They all have bad days and this year, his “ bad days” aren’t really that bad. Can’t wait to watch the next chapter

Are people actually trashing Josh Allen? 

 

This was literally his first bad game all year. Prior he was a legit MVP candidate. 

 

The team has sucked the last two games from top to bottom on both sides of the ball. And also just so happens we played likely the two best teams in the conference. 

 

We'll know a lot more about this team and Allen when we face the Patriots and Seahawks. But brace yourselves because I'm not at all expecting a real good game from Allen and the offense against the Pats who can shut down Mahomes even.

People trashed Jim Kelly too.  Remember Bill Polian saying "Jim Kelly is our quarterback, if you don't like it get out of town".  I think this happened in the "bickering Bills" season of 1989.

 

Allen played against the super bowl champs.  KC is a very good team and he has virtually no running game (unless he runs it himself).  Lack of a running game is something Kelly never had to deal with during his career.

Does the responsibility for the last two losses go far beyond Josh Allen?  Yes.  But is Josh the guy who has the clearest opportunity to make choices that alter the chain of events?  Also yes.

 

So while he's far from the only reason we lost the last two games, Josh is right when he says he needs to play better, and he's not a good way down my list.

Well, you will find many Bills fans trashing him because 1) there are HuuuuuuuUuuge numbers of Bills fans so even a small percentage is many 2) a lot of fans have bipolar fan disorder

 

The reason I love football is that to me, it's a Chess game.  A team comes out with a game plan, an approach.  Maybe they kick butt with it for a while.  Over time, other teams come up with a counter.  Then the first team has to adjust their approach, and they either succeed or fall.

 

If a team has a gap in their repetoire, other teams hone in on it.  Right now, we can't run, and teams are honing in on that and smothering our passing attack.  Now it's on the Bills to figure out a counter to that.

Let's see. Begin with an oline that can't run block. The few maulers are sidelined with injury. Draft slow rb; next year draft slower.

Keep fella that seems to be able to catch and run a bit in the dog house because . . . Run infrequently and when it doesn't immediately work, stop 

altogether. Yep, I'm confident we have a counter.

Exactly. It's a test of intellect and of character as well as of simply physical ability. If you don't have the horses, you can't win the race. But sometimes a team has enough talent to win but not enough of a strategy or coaching or intellect or character. 

 

Then there's always the element of pure dumb luck or bad luck. The combination of all these things makes the game fascinating. (This is true of other sports as well, or course).

 

Right now the Bills are in a very interesting and uncomfortable place. They started so well, they have many of the elements that could make a superior team, but that does not mean they have them all or that they can make use of them. It really is up to them--the coaches, the players--to react to what has been revealed and make the next step. 

 

I have high hopes but like all Bills fans I also fear the looming catastrophe. I want to know what happens next.

Allen’s had a couple of tough games, but it doesn’t mean he stinks.  He’s progressed over three years, and he should have a decent game this weekend.  He’ll need to be ready for the Pats.  The Jets are a good preseason game for him though to get his mojo back.

Thought I heard that Josh has more come from behind wins than Mayfield, Jackson, Darnold & Rosen combined. The beauty of this kid is he's improved every year. He's basically playing 2020 with zero run game. He'll be just what we waited for.

I didn't watch the game except for the Patriots final possession but the box score doesn't show that the Patriots defense struggled much at all. They held the Broncos to 299 total yards of offense,  held them to 4/14 on third down, 4.7 yards per play, didn't give up a TD. The Patriots offense turned the ball over three times. I'm guessing the Broncos got at least a couple of their field goals off those turn overs. And in the fourth quarter they picked off Lock twice to give their offense a chance to win the game.

I did watch the whole game.  Denver really dominated most of the game, and moved the ball easily between the 20s.  Pats did play a good bend but don't break defense to keep Denver out of the end zone.  Some ridiculous play calls by Denver on offense  late let the Pats get back in it.  But the Pats offense was inept most of the game, and their D was fortunate the score was not 26-3 late. But Denver's offense is not good.
