Nope, you definitely aren't... Need Foles up in here as QB3 just so we can say his nickname constantly

Possible, but unlikely. Why? Allen could have gotten Sills V on the 53-man roster if he really, really wanted to. ?

Not if I didn't get to throw him TD's every play:cry:

Can't wait for the season to start. This team seems to have such great bonds... and that is really important in football. As for Josh, man I just love the dude so I can't take no more ha ha. Last year I was going about one day just gushing love for my GF (now ex...), my kids... and him. It's that bad LOL Unlike women, you can love men (no *****) as they don't backstab you for it.

Tell me more....?

Lighten up Francis,  it ain’t no big thing, reverse racism, you gotta be kidding, white folk are like a one legged man in an azs kicking contest when the topic is racism.

and that's why racism will never end. One man says it was a politically incorrect thing to say and he gets told to lighten up Francis? Do you know what race I am? Then don't assume I'm a white man crying. I'm just pointing out what's wrong with saying that. context or not.My panties are Definately not in a bunch over it, but it was wrong

It was obviously a compliment.

Words chosen to make a description come from were a person comes from, we all have different back grounds from which we draw comparisons, which come with different descriptives, when theses different backgrounds are mingled descriptives can then be miss interpreted, so then get taken out of context, it  happens, there was no malice there. If one finds a descriptive abrasive, then it becomes a learning opportunity for the parties involved.  What race we are is not nearly as important as how we conduct our lives.

I was wrong to assume you are a Caucasian I’ll give you that.

nothin but love for ya,

Go Bills!!!

Because you're crying about this I would bet my house on you being a white man who attended the straight pride parade over the weekend.

There's nothing wrong with what Dawkins said.

Reading those made me want to run through a f*&#ing wall.

This was the most encouraging though.

Quote

Cole Beasley: Cannon

"He's got a gun. Like, the first couple of weeks I came in, he was firing that thing. And I actually had to tell him, 'Dude, I'm right here. Right now, we're in routes on air and it's tough. When there's linemen in there and I can't see you, it's going to be really tough because I'm not going to see you. I'm just going to see the ball.' But he's improved so much in that regard and now he just places it to me. It's perfect."

Other good ones about his improvement that I liked.

Quote

Lorenzo Alexander: Malleable

"I think he's been extremely coachable, receiving information, obviously, from (Brian) Daboll but even Matt (Barkley) and Derek (Anderson) last year. Just receiving that and really trying to change his game. And I've seen the fruits of that just on the field this year in OTAs, the preseason, just his command and stuff with the ball. He's still growing and then I think just as a person, too, being more aware of who he is and some of the situations that he's grown from and listening."

Tre'Davious White: Ascending

"He's getting better and better. You could just tell just from practicing against him, from last (year's) OTAs to this OTAs, the second-year jump, you can see it for sure in his decision-making, making accurate throws. And then reading defenses, too. So I feel like you know you've been doing a great job against us."

Dion Dawkins: Swaggy

"He's just his own person. He has his own swag to him, meaning he's just Josh. What he's doing, nobody can do. He's just a big white kid with swag. It's hard to come by, but it's the truth."

Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Why does Dion have the need to remind us Josh is white? Is it harder for white people to have swag? If Cogs says the same thing about a QB of color there would be a backlash. Similar to Dave Chappelle, a white comedian would be destroyed if he/she made similar jokes to most of the ones Dave does in his new special. FYI I think Sticks and Stones is hilarious.  Dion and the populous at large would have been better served if he had just said Josh is a big kid with swag.

Who. Cares.

It's clear what he means: he's a white kid that Dawkins can relate to, and apparently he feels that it's not all that common for a black kid from Jersey and a white kid from Cali to relate like that.

Is Josh a white kid? Yes. Is he "swaggy"? Apparently.  Ergo, he is a swaggy white kid.  I'll bet you any amount of money that Josh read that quote and thought "whoa, cool".

I'm a white dude.  If someone calls me a white dude (which happens by the way, because--get this--I'm a white dude), do you know what my reaction is? It's "that's true, I am a white dude".

As long as we define each other by color there will always be division.

Wrong. As long as we use our differences to demean each other, there will always be division.

I enjoy learning from folks who are different from me.

Are you from a part of the world that I've never been to? Please, tell me about it.

Are you from the city? I'm from a rural area. Please, tell me about it.

Do you worship in a different way? Please, tell me about it.

We are different from each other. We do not need to hide from that fact or ignore it. I do not need to meet people just like me. Honestly, I bore me. If you're different, let's enjoy it. Please, tell me about it.

What I am saying is what we see in children. Kids who aren’t raised with bias, learned from their parents usually, don’t see skin color at all. They refer to their friends and peers as simply that kid. If you ask them which kid, they will say the one with the blue shirt on or the one wearing the hat.

We must absolutely be teaching our children to recognize different skin colors.  Then teach them to respect cultural differences.

My kids always describe the way a person looks when I ask them to tell me about the people that they meet.

He's tall.

She's short.

He has brown skin.

Being able to describe the way a person looks is totally normal.  It would be really, really weird if kids didn't observe those things.

Agree.

I've heard so many people say they wish the world was "colorblind."  I get that their intentions are good, but it's the LAST thing we want.  We need to teach kids to acknowledge, understand, accept and respect differences in others.

Years ago when my kids were wee ones we were visiting some relatively new "black" friends and one of them started reciting Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Mo

She wasn't sure whether to expect  catch a tiger by the toe or not

it all starts at an early age.   and that's a fact Jack

I have "olive" skin in the winter and very dark brown if i actually can spend a good week on the beach.

My brown skinned friends would say that my tan was darker than theirs

Yeah.  It’s so tough to be a white guy!!!

but sure in a perfect world, race doesn’t exist and no one mentions race.  But this world sucks right now.  But literally, Dawkins and Allen couldn’t care less.  Funny when you are on a team, you become brothers and don’t spend your time crying about this stupid crap.

It's tough being anybody these days.  Crying and crusading isn't going to fix life's problems.  I'm a white guy and I've been handed a boatload of problems in my life.  Life isn't fair.

Does this have involve shades and tones? And what are they to make of this recognition? Why can’t we just see people as people? There are cultural differences in every race. Can you teach someone to a  know the Protestant from a Catholic? A Hindu from a Muslim? Your path is a slippery slope to labeling everyone before you even know their name.

Dude...it's totally normal for people to observe the color of someone's skin.  It's NOT normal for people to treat others with disrespect because of the color of their skin.

I don't think there's anything slippery about either of those statements.

We should just see people as people, no more "qualifiers" or descriptions.  People are people,

Short people are systemically  discriminated against, there is clearly a tall privilege in this country.

I think we should also stop describing people as ugly or handsome, it isnt fair to the ugly.  Good looking privilege exists,

Describing girls with big breast is sexiest and should be immediately stopped and we should have quotas of fat ugly, flat chested as well as male and trans cheerleaders,

We should stop talking about bald people, not "fair" they lose their hair,

Smart versus dumb also has to stop.  Why is it smart people get more money higher paying jobs on average.  That isnt fair.

Oh it goes way beyond skin color, our society has a lot lot lot of work to do.

Luckily for humanity you persevered and overcame. I don't think anyone else would have been clever enough to think of doing a split to hit a nut shot. Without you, Goro would have never been defeated and Earth would have been doomed.

How about one word for all his critics since being drafted?

What's the one word that comes to their mind when Josh ends up representing the Bills perennially in the playoffs?

How about, "apologetic"?

I dunno, Allen is still a 50% passer, as advertised.  Hope that changes, but in no way should his detractors be apologetic at this stage...

I guess none of them are buying into this from the Athletic's season predictions today...

Bills (7-9) — Ultimately, Josh Allen’s struggles with accuracy become the story of the Bills’ season. NFL’s Next Gen Stats has a metric called completion percentage above expectation. It measures the probability of every completion based on factors like a receiver’s separation, where the receiver is on the field, how close the nearest pass rusher is, etc. Allen ranked second-to-last in 2018, ahead of only C.J. Beathard. The defense plays well, rookie running back Devin Singletary shows promise and Buffalo is competitive, but it misses out on the playoffs and goes into the offseason with a major question mark at quarterback.

Don't you think you're being more than a bit presumptuous here?

It's completely normal for my kids to say "dad, my favorite Tae Kwon Do teacher is Mr. [Smith]", and when I ask "cool, which one is Mr. Smith?", for him to say "he's the one with brown skin".  My kid is 6, and that's by far the easiest way to identify the teacher he's talking about.  And yes, this is a real life example.

That's not weird, and it's not labeling Mr. [Smith] in a dangerous way no matter how hard someone might try to be offended by it.

Absolutely. What kind of insane human being can walk around and not notice that people look different? It's a ridiculous concept to teach a child because they're going to be VERY confused. They know that this particular teammate has dark skin and perhaps a slightly different vernacular. But you're teaching them that their inherent vision/awareness is WRONG. That's crazy talk.

Respect/acknowledge different cultures/people etc. That's it.

As to to OP, it's great to hear all the encouraging words used to describe Allen by him teammates. What's clear is that he's well liked and respected in the locker room. There is zero doubt about THAT.

What really gets me is that the more pot becomes legal and accepted the more wound tight and angry people get...

One would expect the opposite.

What Dawkins said was totally innocuous. People used to be able to talk to each other without going batshit crazy over the slightest perceived "offense"

I'll just come out and say it: the end of rock music and the advent of social media have made society totally miserable.
