OldTimeAFLGuy Posted June 16, 2019 Share Posted June 16, 2019 ...I can only guess that there is a huge disparity of TBD fathers' ages here.....today's environment of child rearing is far more difficult and dangerous versus when I was a kid back "in the 1500's"......"mom I'm going out to play (9AM)....to which she said, "be home for dinner" without a worry in the world......today it is 24/7/365 monitoring of kids....abductors, molesters, murderers, armed sentrys at schools, even holier than thou once respected priests put children at risks in ways that were unheard of when I was growing up...how sad we have fallen...just a thought.... We had a picnic at my mom's yesterday and she got some good steaks from the local butcher. Generally I do the cooking, but she wanted to let me relax (bless her heart) and had my step dad cook them. He torched those bad boys. The rarest one was well done and the most well done was somewhere near jerkey. Some people might just look at that as being lazy and not wanting to have to go out and pick them up..... I typically plan my weekends to try and get projects done around the house because I can't get stuff done after work on weeknights usually. I don't mind having family over or going to see family, but my wife will still complain about wishing something was done around the house, lol. I also hate gifts and tell people not to get me anything. If I want something I get it myself and it comes up all the time cause either my wife complains cause I buy something around a holiday (bought new boots a few years ago cause I needed some, found out she bought me a pair that were from her mom to me for Christmas, my sister this year bought me a book that I already bought a few weeks ago when it came out).
