A Turbo-charged version of Kyle Williams? How the Bills will make Ed Oliver even better than he was in college

Should they bring in 'ole Wrecks to teach 3-technique?

His three technique was stacking 3 doughnuts on his extended middle and index finger to eat as one.

im sorry folks, I really despised that he was a buf coach.

Him, Peterman and Coy Wire playing linebacker top  my indelible list of recently detested things.

A lot of people don't find assaulting underage girls funny... Doesn't matter if it was R. Kelly or anyone else... The joke was lousy.

Edmonds.

He already started last season.

Are we gonna go with "Edmonds" like we did with Eric "Woods." I'm fine with it. Just want to know how to proceed.

As to the OP. If Ed Oliver has a Kyle Williams like career, I'd be ecstatic. We tend to place unrealistic expectations on rookies based on hope. I love Ed and it's possible he'll have a HOF career, but it's almost as if a Williams like career would be seen as a disappointment. Kind of crazy IMO.

I remember when LT was drafted and Bill Polian compared him to Thurman Thomas. There were Chargers fans that thought that was absurd. He's gonna be better than Thurman Thomas! Now in that case, it could be argued that he did have a better career than Thurman. So probably a poor example, but I digress. Comps to HOF or near HOF careers should NEVER be viewed as a slight.

I cringe at the comparisons to Donald, and the expectations of replacing K-dub... It's such a high damn bar.  -Too high...

I'm done talking with you, your reading comprehension is terrible and you're an emotional wreck trying to blow this out of proportion

Humor is subjective.

And it seems like you’ve been subjected to very little.

Move along.

Relax? Haha. What do you mean?
This is where I end your posting career on this forum forever.

You just blamed me for telling a "tasteless joke that made me look creepy" and I didn't even tell it.
Literally, right after I told you not to talk to me anymore because your reading comprehension is trash.

It's no joke.

How did you even navigate yourself to this forum?
Did you learn how to read from a mood ring or an etch-a-sketch?
I swear dude, Ed Oliver himself must have tackled you helmet to helmet way back when you were still trying to sound out the alphabet.

I guess you can't really laugh at a joke if you don't know how to read in the first place.

Do you call that moderating? buddy is defaming me and accusing me of things I didn't even say.

I actually read the forum rules, remember?

Funny enough more than one poster chimed in with the same sentiments as myself yet you're targeting me.

That red font under your picture is misleading.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it... -Supporting cast on that 4-man front is going to be critical... I like Peko's energy... I think he can be coached into a mean D-tackle, and I think the vet, -Jordan Phillips will want his name mentioned in there too... The consistency of these players (Star and Harry included) will be key to EO doing what he's supposed to do...

I'm also going to say that raw instinct will not be enough to carry Oliver... He'll have to be refined and educated by this coaching staff, -fashioning him into the weapon he's capable of being... I'm excited to see this defense, but I feel there's a whole lot more at stake here in 2019-'20.

Good luck replacing that in a locker room.

The "Deep Water" speech he gave at the beginning of this video literally brings tears to my eyes. Raw emotion. We will struggle without his leadership, no question. However, someone will pick up the torch. They'll have to. My money is on Micah Hyde.

We have entered the Kool-Aid portion of the off season.  While I am excited at his potential, until it happens on the field it is just that= potential.  He will certainly be facing a big difference in caliber of offensive linemen.  I think it's unrealistic to think he is going to step in as a rookie and be as good as Kyle Williams, but he could certainly grow into that, and that's good enough for me.

Back to the OP.

This is a great pick, guy has a huge motor and he's twitchy fast and if he was as strong as he seems, he is going to be a beast to stop. I think Star will also help as he will be clogging the lane allowing Oliver to penetrate.

Plus I love the guy's attitude, he is so likable and honest and was so grateful and happy to be playing in Buffalo.

I love how pumped he was to be selected by the Bills.  I have to believe that that, plus the prospect of not getting double and triple teamed playing NT, has/will re-energized him.

Lol why focus on Rosen? I want to see him crush Brady.

Focus is on Rosen for more years to crush (if he can last) and less flags.

Star and him should be siamese twins in camp so they know what each will be doing.  Hopefully in camp they will be roommates.

You may or may not like Star, but he will command a double team which hopefully will free Oliver up quite a bit.  I like the idea of a run stuffer, an interior pass rusher and a stud middle linebacker to keep free to clean things up.  I was a bit underwhelmed by Edmunds play last year, but we have to remember he is young and it was a huge step for him to play middle linebacker.  We did see improvement, but to me he just looks so unnatural there.  Hopefully he continues to improve and the core of this defense will be around for years to come.

The McDermott defense is tailor made for Oliver to play 3 tech.  It is literally the perfect system for him.

I think so too. They're definitely going to get the most out of him

If Star can consistently command double teams, it will make that DL deadly.  I really hope Trent Murphy is healed and ready to contribute at LDE.

Thanks.
I agree with the objection to the humor and I found c-troop's response to input to be pretty poor too.
I wanted to object publicly but didn't want to feed the troll.
The Moderators make TSW a great place to talk about our beloved Bills.

Good player on a bad contract. Greg Gaines was a 5th round pick last weekend and he can do that jump for peanuts but I understand why they signed him and I'm not complaining.
