Horrible Fox Coverage

Recommended Posts

Those Fox sports commercials were so painfully bad. They were over the top, suppose to be intense, and noisy.  I was waiting for the Predator to jump out or something. They really need to rethink the way they do their network sports commercials.  Did anyone else notice this?

Yeh, she asked Kyle Williams if the playoffs last year were because they were good team or was it "all smoke and mirrors".  Why waste your breath Pamela.

It's the Pre-Season for them too!

Pam Oliver couldn't get a question out cleanly in those player interviews to save her life.  It was tough to listen to.

I noticed that too.  When she did get a question out it was embarrassing.

So Kyle do you really think McDermott is turning things around or is it just smoke and mirrors?

FOX has always been terrible both in commercials and in-game.  Designed for 13 year old boys who just hit puberty.  Dignity is too much to ask for I guess.

Tony Gonzalez is not good at his job.

I'm still amazed Fox rolls out those early-2000 robot graphics still.

As an aside, Shane Black is going to regret making his Predator movie.  It looks so Straight to DVD.

The quality of NFL sports broadcasting is atrocious.

The NBC Sunday night production is by far the best in the industry; the rest is pretty freaking bad.

Agreed. I just tune it out. Focus on the plays.

My brother gets so angry about it. Yeah they suck, just ignore them

does it help that it cherry picks the best game of the week so you are looking forward to it instead of the trash Thursday and Mondays are usually stuck with?

It was so bad.

The guy who opened the broadcast said the Bills went to the playoffs for the first time since 1990. Then the OTHER guy said "When in Buffalo, you've GOTTA get some BBQ!"

It only got worse from there.

Hey, it's preseason for broadcasters, too!

I know it was a preseason game but why show us the guys in the booth yapping with someone while the game is being played, at least split screen that crap

the NFL works with national broadcast crews for TV regular season games, and sometimes even less experienced crews for the playoffs (dig up Joe Theismann for Wild Card weekend...)

and all they do for research is have staff ask self-serving questions to the teams GMs on a Thursday, and memorize player numbers and a few key facts that any 7-year old fan knows alreday

for preseason games, which are pointless, they aren't into worrying about the 2nd half scrubs on the field, so it's a total joke, and they didn't disappoint...

I have a theory as to why a majority of us feel the national broadcasts of Bills games are not up to par:

Back in the days when there was no internet, no access to WGR 550 on any device, thousands of Bills blogs, message boards, the information that these games provided was good to us because there wasn't anything else. Now a lot of us are more advanced and knowing of the in and outs of this team, so the national coverage isn't up to what we want.

every sport has gotten more complex, especially the last decade, with strategy and player changes and formations, and the TV announcers tell us NOTHING more than we can see with our eyeballs, even on replay they add NOTHING at all

radio is usually a local team who knows the roster and the inside stuff and can tell us when something unusual has set up in subs or formation

The problem is that they hire ex players. They may be great players, but they are usually dumber than a box of rocks.

you can't fly in a team of announcers two days before and have them knowledgeable about the nuances of either team
