Re: Shaw66

Recommended Posts

Just a heads up-I’m a brand new member as of today and the thing I’ve wanted to say most is:

To all those who respond to Shaw66 by calling him “Shaw”-just want to make sure you all know this man is an NFL Hall of Famer (offensive guard), played whole career

(9 years) with The Bills-1961-1970, 8 of which he made the Pro Bowl! I watched him play at the Rock Pile back in the day. Just think he deserves the respect of either MR. Shaw or Billy-just sayin-also, check out his Bio!

And the only Pro Football Hall of Famer who never played in the NFL. Always liked that piece of trivia.

So Shaw66 needs to be referred to as Mr. Shaw or Billy? I’m confused.

Impressive. Not only do you manage to post one handed, but you’re doing it from the great beyond.

Not to confuse the issue, Russ, but if you’re finally coming out shouldn’t you be letting the guys know that you’re available?

I never knew Billy Shaw played for the Bills or was a real person.  Thank you for clarifying.

...took time off from his regular cement mixing job to play ball for the Bills at a whopping 18 grand....no minis...no OTA's....show up and play.....and bring your Malboros.....guy finally retired from mixing cement at age 66.......needed Social Security to retire be cause his NFL pension was HUGE (COUGH).....these guys paved the way and are an afterthought.....sad....

Off topic, but I did a lot of work back in the early 90s with a fellow named Roger Crozier. Never been a hockey fan, but I understood he was something with the Sabres way back in the day. He was in charge of construction for a big credit card company and named one of his buildings the Sabre Wing. Another building he named the Red Wing, which then segued into an entirely different direction with the White and Blue Wings. He was a great guy to work with.......

Not sure what you’re getting at, here. I mean, I’m all for talking football but I don’t find it THAT stimulating... ?

In 1970 when "Hockeymania" hit Buffalo Crozier was the man.

I hope the OP isn't suggesting a lack of respect calling a poster by a single name. We all do that. Promo, Boys, Mead, etc.

I’ll try to remember that, Mr. TheRobot.

Hi 60s,  I'll put this out there for all:

1) I have no idea if the Shaw66 poster is or is not the actual Billy Shaw who played for the Bills.

2) sometimes folks who are players or retired players or otherwise in the NFL don't want to be "outed"  Sometimes you make an educated guess and message them privately "are you?" and they'll tell ya, BUT, it's not cool to "out" them without their OK

As long as we're being honest here, I am the real TigerJ.  I am among those who never had the impression that our Shaw66 was the original.  I enjoy and respect him as a poster for his knowledge and respect for the game.
