This Fish logo is a perfect example. It looks like the logo you'd see on a cardboard box in the frozen seafood section at Wegmans. They should go back to the old dolphin wearing a football helmet, which was actually pretty cool. Look at Wake - the 9 has angles, the 1 doesn't... The Jags get an A+ for just going with a solid color on their helmet - those old ones were AWFUL. Getting rid of excessive piping and getting closer to traditional colors is always an improvement in my book. They also have their throwback set with the darker teal and helmet-wearing Phin. As a uni traditionalist, I ordered an Elite version Bills throwback late last year with my last name on the nameplate. I love the simple blue numbers with red piping. The extra black piping of the regular unis just grates my eyes. It reeks of late '90s. Combine that with the inconsistent striping on the collar. Bear in mind that these are still way better than the Donahoe-era yolks, by FAR, but one can only hope that the trend of removing unnecessary black/dark outlines eventually hits Buffalo. As for the Jags new set, our long national nightmare of the split-personality helmet is finally over. The cloth is extremely bland. Numbers have no contrast, pants have nothing but a small hip logo. This is minimalism that is to the opposite extreme of the previous set. This looks like a training camp set. They really need to go back to the original dolphin logo, or even the cartoon type logo. The Jaguars new uniforms are nothing special, but their new helmet looks great. Still, credit for killing the half-and-half helmets. I think gold helmets would be more unique then black, and help establish a franchise identity. As for the 'phins, if you're going to change a uniform, make a significant change, colors, helmet logos or such, rather then just a couple subtle little tweaks. Ah well.
