He can make all the throws is mobile, problem is his football IQ and diagnosing a defense. Coverages easily confuse him, and he doesnt process defense quick enough at an NFL level. He is definitely good enough to be an NFL backup though, and theres no shame in that.... His traits compare most to Allen in this years draft. Cardale's accuracy issues were glaringly obvious if you actually paid attention to that Big10 Title run and National Championship run. His accuracy, or lack thereof, makes Josh Allen look like Drew Brees. Thus, the 4th round pick vs a probable 1st rounder, maybe even top 5. Yet cardale had a higher completion percentage in college vs tougher competition I understand they Allen is probably the better QB, but in this draft he is comparable to cardale. See, this is what I mean about people having no clue. If you actually watched Cardale's games you would see a ton of inaccurate throws. There were deep balls to wide open guys under thrown by 10 yards, they were just so wide open they caught them still, or they would jump over the DB and catch it after they caught up. On short throws he would almost never hit a guy in stride. They would be high, behind them, or misses completely. Again, some would be caught, but still inaccurate. Finally, these teams were all stacking the box to stop Elliot and the running game, not protecting against the passing game, so guys were wide open all over the field. Completion percentage does not tell the whole story. Not even close.

Obviously Allen is the better prospect, but he very much is comparable to a guy like Cardale. Actually completion % is a stat that tells a lot. dbflaBill
I don't get what this FO saw in Peterman that made them get rid of Cardale so quick. Cardale is the bigger stronger, better arm, more athletic QB. Both are projects, and I think Cardale has the higher ceiling.

I think, more than anything, it's the danger that bowl season & CFB playoffs are the first introduction to players for a lot of casual fans. You're probably off work for Christmas, put the game on, get a really small sample size and go from there.

SoCal Deek
If true...the NFL has hit rock bottom when it comes to back-up QBs. This must be the hardest job in America, if Geno Smith is still hanging around. For years I said the same thing about Fitz, and every now and again I see one of these "used to be" types standing on the sidelines for some team...and cannot believe they're still in the league. I am going with the Geno test. Peterman was a rookie in his first start. Geno, on his 24th start, threw 3 picks on 8 attempts with 2 completions in the first 10 minutes (before he was pulled). In contrast, it took Peterman 13 minutes and 40 seconds to throw 3 picks. Guess Peterman needs to work on that. Like Geno, Peterman had 8 attempts and managed to completed 4 of them. To his own players! Oh, and Geno got a whopping 5 yards on his 2 completed passes while Peterman managed 39 yards on his 4 completions. That being said I think both of them will have fine careers in the new XFL.
