Deonte Thompson signs with Cowboys

Recommended Posts

He’s certainly replaceable but his role on the team was more than the stat sheet. He made clutch catches and was the only one who showed legit ability to separate downfield with speed. I absolutely predict they are drafting a guy for that role like Dante Pettis or DJ Chark but the draft situation is fluid and it’s a glaring hole right how.

My guess is that both teams were offering a 1-yr deal and even if the Bills matched that or offered a bit more, he will be a FA again next year and there is simply more opportunity for him to get a bigger deal next year after playing in Dallas due to the difference in QB situations.

I’ve said it over and over that the Bills will not be able to sign a decent WR in FA without a QB. Unless they massively overpay. No agent will recommend their client come to this offense at this point in time. That is why the KB trade was so critical and the Zay situation is so brutal. They will need to acquire this position through trade and draft until a QB who throws the ball is in place.

Trade for Dez. Complete the circle!

I also think this is a decent option

Decent is right. I'd like Allen Hurns. Meredith is a good player. Snead is really nothing special. Small, not really fast. I think a product of playing with Brees. Meredith put up numbers playing with no one at quarterback.

I don't think that Daboll is really going to feature WRs too much, but that's my opinion. I think we will see a lot of two tight end sets.

That’s why I like Meredith. My boss is a Bears fan and says no way they let him go, they have tons of $$ and will match anything.

I think the Bills are going to need to get  creative with cap and overpay Hurns if they intend to move up and draft a rookie QB to start. Nothing worse than putting the shiny new rookie out there who you sold the farm for and surrounding him with no WRs.

We don't have money this year to spend in 2018, so we would have needed to a multi-year offer to compete... in which case I'd guess mgmt is hedging their bets that they can get someone better by next year.

I think he's a solid WR3 and worth $3.5 million for that role.

Maybe Zay scared him off...

I read the tweets as a one year 2.5 mill total deal. Which includes 1 mill sign bonus as the only guaranteed part.

That's what I thought, too, but I guess I'd still give him an additional $1 million.

I feel $3.5 million for a good WR3 is decent value.

Eh. Not a big deal.

Not a big deal at all for a team that actually has wide receivers.  This is a relatively significant deal for us considering our WRs currently consist of one dude with bad knees who can't gain separation, and another who can't catch and who might be dealing with the onset of a serious mental illness...

Our WR situation is dismal.  Like, we don't even have an AJ McCarron equivalent right now at that position.  I've been banging the drum for Calvin Ridley at #12 if we can't get one of the top-3 QBs and it doesn't seem crazy at all with some of the developments this week.
