Leodis in talks with Bills

Recommended Posts

Even though hes black? :nana:

Leodis is a special teams nightmare for other teams. As soon as he got a little confidence, that was it. He deserves a buttload of cash just for sticking by us as fans. Nobody deserves what he had to deal with following that muffed punt.

So you want to reward him for his game losing screw-up? Look I have come around from my hate for the guy's lack of football instincts. I would like to have jim back for his special team skills and being a nickel corner. But not a lot of money. IMHO, anything more than 4 mil per year will be too much.

I'll defer to the new coaching staff on this one

LM is a better in man coverage than zone. He's been mostly in zone in the past. Pettine is going to use him in press coverage ... which is more to his strength.

The proof will be in the pudding.

I would like Leodis back for his ST play but I am afraid they are going to overpay him and be forced to let him play on defense. He is not good in coverage.

He wasn't that bad last year. He's been really bad in the past at times, but more often than not is right with his man. Hopefully the new staff can help him with ball awareness. I think Pettines pressing defense will be playing right into his strengths and he could be really good. He's talented, yet inconsistent.

I'd rather have Leodis back than Levitre. Levitre might be more valuable to the team, but he doesn't allow me the opportunity to shout MCLOVIN!!! after a big play.

Yeah but without Levitre.....well enough of the erection jokes.

Even without Levitre, we still got Wood.

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

GO BILLS!!!

Watch what some real coaching (Pettine) does for McLovin at CB. All the talent and athletic ability you can ask for -- and we already know he's a world class return man.

As a DC, Pettine won't be involved in the day to day position coaching responsibilities. But his position coaches will teach technique in accordance with the schemes Pettine wants to implement.

I'm very glad to hear that they're making a push to sign McLovin' before free agency officially kicks in.

GO BILLS!!!

MIght get to Levitre yet.Seems they are working their way up the food chain. May even sign Nelson as a free agent for less than the Tag....will see.

yes. i can see this as a possible. Andy but even Nelson.

Also glad we are working with Leo's agent already.

I strongly feel he still has upside in the right hands.

"oops" that was gross

But you guys know what i mean. I expect Leodis can improve his ball awareness.

dammit happened again

i would be quite glad to keep him on the team for a reasonable offer his attitude has been excellent and he does have alot of skill.

Just that last bit of getting his hand in front of the football before the receiver, detail...

The bolded is quite true. The problem is that most of the time, the receiver he is "right with" catches the football. Picking him at #11 was yet another disaster by Jauron.

McKevin is an average to below average corner. That said, I hope that we keep him, if only to lessen the real possibility of the Bills wasting yet another early pick on a corner.

You know I always thought he had very good coverage skills, but for some reason he has no play recognition and would never turn his head when the ball got there.

Agree. I like him on the return game but scary on the D. He did play a little better this year tho. becoming a FA have anything to do with it?

This is good news just about any way you slice it, barring some ridiculous contract. With McKelvin in the fold, you have options - I wouldn't be wild about him as a starter, but he's definitely a better choice than Williams, and probably good enough that you can hold out for value in a FA signing or draft of another corner. But if the opportunity to upgrade that #2 corner is there, you can take it and feel very good with McKelvin at #3.

What are we thinking as far as the money is concerned with Leodis? I'm saying a 3-4 year deal coming in somewhere in the vicinity of $3.25-$3.75 million per year. Let's say 3 years - $11 million. Sound fair?

Fair for what? Being a high draft pick? 3 years 9 mil is generous for his return game. I hope our fresh out of college staff can help refine his raw talent and develop it

i hope he steps into wilsons unofficial spot as team spokesman.

Your comment brought me great joy as I reminisced about my mother telling me about an illiterate Bills player when I was home last time, I snap called that it was Leodis.

I was right.

And if they did that and retain him to be primary Kick returner, I hope they cut Brad Smith soon. There is really no room for Smith and his 15M contract on this roster.

This is a great point, if Leodis is retained then B. Smith should not. There are only so many specialists a team can have and at least Leodis has proven to be an elite return man.

Not to mention, maybe we can get rid of that gimmicky-ass Wildcat horse$&!#.. How many playoff caliber teams bring in a one-trick pony to run a wildcat play or two a game? Don't seem to remember the Falcons, Ravens, Patriots*, Steelers, Packers, Bears, Saints, Broncos or Colts doing that crap.. I know the 49ers, Redskins and Seahawks run similar plays to the Wildcat.. but, they don't use a specialist for it.
