I’m now confused.  Are you saying you want a windy stadium?

Are you as confused as the wind is gonna be?

I kinda thought that too. But, like all shows, the first episode normally just develops the characters. Perhaps there'll be one of those 'mic-drop / cut-to-commercial' type scenes in episode 2.

One thing notable to me was, how Josh refers to his receivers by their number and not name. For such a player/team type of guy, it seemed odd at first. But I really like it. It makes it more like business and not personal. And not the Cook version of business, the 'I'm at work conducting business' thing.

Yeah, it just seemed lighter to me than most episodes of Hard Knocks that I have seen. But it's only the first one. It's still cool seeing us being part of it, though

“They scienced it out”. - new phrase I’m using often

He was gonna quote Mark Whatley from 'The Martian' and say, "They scienced the $chit out of this.", but Pegs caught himself.

When I search Max all that comes up is Hard Knocks with AFC North and Hard Knocks with the Bears.

Bill, I went to the Max app. This morning at 5am.  I hit the search button, and hard knocks. It comes up immediately.

As a Bills fan, I loved it, I could have watched another 5 hours. For others, I could see it being relatively boring compared to other years hard knocks. The bills have very little drama, pretty much zero battles for starting positions, and McDermott is going to give the show the absolute minimum.

If the wind is as confused as I am you won’t feel a thing on the field!

You nailed it. While watching, I caught myself with a dopey grin several times. I'm lovin' it.

Amen.  I finished the last part of the episode at the gym on the treadmill.  My workout buddy comes in at 6:50am, and finishing up cardio.  He looks at me and says, what’s wrong Dan.

I told him I went from loving episode 1 to when they started Mr. bright side at the end of the episode and Josh comes out of the tunnel to getting choked up and had a tear in my eye.  I said, it’s nothing, just if you didn’t grow up in Buffalo, you’ve never loved your NFL team like all of us.  He just placed his hand on my shoulder, and said I understand.

God bless Josh and this team.  I didn’t expect to have an emotional reaction that early in the morning.  He’ll, I’m Irish.  We laugh a helluva lot more than we cry.  This was only a tear.

I thought it was interesting where Bobby Babich, addressing the D, was telling them to "stay away from 17,  JOEY" - making a point to let Bosa know we don't touch Allen, as if he doesn't have sense enough to put on the brakes. He may not. He doesn't give the impression that he could've been a Rhode's Scholar candidate.

The first episodes of Hard Knocks aren’t the most interesting. They kind of serve as an intro to the team and its personalities

You know, I wonder if that was intended to make the players and coaches more comfortable, relaxed and real for future episodes.

the first episode is intended to give people OTHER than fans of that team a reason to like that team so that they'll watch the remaining 4 episodes.

This is TV, folks.  Meant to put as many eyes on the product as possible.

The show needs to work with the material they have.  Did you guys really expect HBO to spin up narratives like an embattled coach or a QB controversy and expect the people to buy it?

Yes. Yes I did.

Bravo! I admire thoughtful writing. 😁

That narrator, he belongs on an animal planet documentary, almost as bad as Collinsworth.  Hire Mike Rowe or really anyone with some voice inflection please.

I disagree.  Liev Schrieber does a nice job...and actually has done narration for the History channel as well.

AJ can catch an 11 foot Python but can't get within 20 yards of Mahomes.

Training with a python seems correct for dealing with how the KC OL "blocks"

I have to confess I didn't make it through that first episode. Really boring TV.

But from a football standpoint, boring is good! Good team, no big controversies, entering another season with the expectation of winning and maybe getting over the hump. Good, but ... boring.
