finn Posted December 20, 2023 Share Posted December 20, 2023 I was down on Bernard, up on Poona, down on the O-line (especially Brown), up on Kincaid and Torrence, down on Davis, up on Elam. Didn't have much expectation for Harty, Sheffield, or Floyd. Bernard and O-line have been the most pleasant surprises, Harty and Poona the biggest disappointments. We desperately need a solid wr2. I myself do it from time to time, but at the end of the day I like to watch each game as a completely unique event. The simple fact that a mediocre team can one week score 0 points and the next week put up 63 shows nobody knows that will happen. The big question marks for me were the starting positiona that the Bills elected not to upgrade and instead filled with incumbents. I was most concerned with Terrell Bernard and Spencer Brown to be able to take a step forward. I was least concerned about Gabe Davis. This was completely wrong. Bernard is arguably better than Edmunds and Brown has improved to a good starting RT - exactly as Beane forecasted. Davis is the same WR he’s been for 3 years. Good for a few big TD catches, an occasional big game but overall just too inconsistent and not enough of a factor at WR2. In the end the player I thought was the safest to improve, ended up making the least improvement. Not a player, but the other person Buffalo put a ton of faith in to improve was Ken Dorsey. I was a little concerned about this and the concern turned out to be very valid. His offense never evolved with 12 personnel and instead was too reliant on Josh. I think Dorsey deserved another shot as OC, but in hindsight the best move would likely be to move onto Brady. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They are much better than I expected. I also had low expectations for Oliver and he has proven me to be very wrong. I also had no confidence that Beane could do anything mid-season to plug holes if the need were to arise. Ralonzo Posted December 21, 2023 Share Posted December 21, 2023 Yeah I'll own up to clocking Bernard as the second coming of Kelvin Sheppard whose best contribution to the Bills would be trade bait. It wasn't without basis - both got the corner turned on them in preseason over and over and over.
