Yeah, the repeatedly posting of the same memes etc is tiring. But my point is, those 5 or 6 if they are also the ones that ran to SDS to complain, probably just got him tired of hearing those complaints, and instead of banning those 5 or 6 took the easy way and banned DR.

Agreed re over complaining but stop saying someone got DR banned. DR got DR banned. See SDS’s explanation. If those posters who complained were spamming SDS with nonsense he should and could ban them too. 
 

Anyways this thread is turning into a whine fest and it’s victory Monday. Turning attention to other matters until we see what changes SDS has in store for the site. Exciting!

He has been inundated with the sheer amount of bot-like posters challenging him on every point. Even on non controversial points he's been attacked. DR has been patient with attacker after attacker but he's been abused over and over. His posting about the "deep state" started out with many of us doubting him and saying so, but in a civil manner. He convinced many of us eventually and by-and-large he's been correct. To allow terrible posters to continue posting their total nonsense will of course in the end drive away good posters, either unwillingly or willingly. DC Tom left, TYTT claims to be leaving, Meazza wants to take a break and DR suspended or banned? It also seems like a number of long term posters are up in arms over the decimation of this place. This was a good place to discuss and learn. Not so much anymore. I deplore the mods and SDS to take a serious look at what has happened here and put a lid on the trash posters.

SDS, thanks for the explanation.  Still don't believe banning DR was the correct decision, but this is your board & respect the decision.  (Also, very saddened that you & yours are having so many health issues, I do hope they all get overcome & will say a prayer for you all.)

 

Definitely don't want to add to the consternation this place has been causing you, but do want to point out one item.  The vast majority of the people celebrating your decision (& running to you and the mods about DR & likely others) are people that openly call for the removal of this board.  It's interesting & sad that the people who don't like this board can't abide their own advice and simply stay away.  But rather they want to destroy this because they don't like it.

I know my rambling post seems like it was a complete tell-all, but it wasn't it. Plenty of people report posters like BillStime and and a whole host of others. It was the source of my "tell a better story in reports" request. Reporting a person by calling them annoying or saying they posted an annoying meme in PPP is not something anyone is ever going to take the time to investigate.

 

Also let it be told, we have been telling everyone for weeks/months? to stop reporting trivial matters, regardless of the poster or their philosophy.

I have looked over pages and pages and pages of posts by TFR and other than pushing back on positions, conspiracy theories and sometimes the general bent of PPP, I see absolutely nothing outside the normal back and forth of political talk that justified any of this on the heels on that suspension.

I also want to clear that TFR did not report anything. Another member did. So I ask:

 

1. What do I tell the member who reported the above and expresses to us that another member is facing unwarranted, repetitive abuse?

2. What am I supposed to do after reading above after just going through this scenario with the reported member?

3. As this country becomes more polarized and as our discourse increasingly gets more extreme, why would I want this Buffalo Bills Community associated with the above (among other things)? A lot of people posting anonymously here. I, however, am not (or at least it is the worst secret ever).

 

I want to note that, unless I missed it, friends of DR didn't exactly call to relax. Posters have responded that people here handle it themselves. So far I have failed to see where TFR needed to be handled like this. I do see DR needing to take a step back (IMO), but no advice was offered (unless it was done privately and he ignored it).

 

Just additional information from my point of view.

 

SDS,

 

DR was extremely patient and always offered legitimate retorts to those that would ask with some civility.  The others wore him down and used his passion against him.  I would argue that you have made a grave mistake banning anyone, especially DR.  We all come here of our own free will and if we can't take the heat, we should leave.  When you start listening to the fans in the seats as Marv once said, you'll soon be sitting with them.  You have created a beautiful place to exchange thoughts and opinions the way it should be, free from censorship.  Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on this and thanks so much for this forum and all of TBD.  Go Bills and God Bless America.
