Punching Bag Posted June 29, 2020 Share Posted June 29, 2020 My wife makes lamb curry. I am sorry not have recipe but I love lamb curry for the potatoes, onions and carrots absorb the lamb flavor. She uses "House Foods Vermont Curry Mild Mix" - yea a Vermont curry sound odd but it has apples and honey in it. It is actually a Japanese curry made in Japan and has been around over 50 years. All I know is that it has mayonnaise in it along with the milk and cheese. The stuff is friggin delicious. My daughter eats like a finch, and she’ll crush 2 helpings every time. I looked up the curry you mentioned online, I'll have to see if any of the local places sell it. If I do find it I'm going to use goat instead of lamb. I read some of the comments and using cream of mushroom soup instead of chicken sounds good... already have chicken stock in there as it is. Trust me. i've had this a number of times too! it's a bit sweet for me, but i get the appeal. my wife actually asked me what to make in the crock pot, so we're looking for ideas. she makes a mexican chicken dish over rice which is solid, and a beef stew. i like them both, but god we need to change it up. All you need is a pork loin, bbq rub, and bbq sauce (I use sweet baby ray's). Had it last week and had it for lunch three days in a row because it was that good. For slow cooker I love a good pot roast - get something with some decent fat that will render slowly and make some ridiculously tender meat at the end (cut with a fork). Throw in the veggies you like - potatoes, carrots, celery is what I use - some spices and diced onion for flavoring - some beef broth to add some liquid. I have made it just as you described and it came out delicious... except instead of beef broth use red wine, the kind people drink, not that cooking crap. We had company last night and she cheated a bit on her no dairy/gluten rule, and she had to lay down when people left. These restrictions blow, but it could be worse. A good way to do it is to brown the roast on all sides before putting it in. It looks better and tastes better. Deglaze the pan with red wine afterward and throw that ***** over the roast. Whole mushrooms are a must for me to add to the pot. When we've had venison in the house, a venison roast or stew cooks the best in a crock pot too. You don’t get the crispy skin of an oven, but it is very moist. by the way, I don’t believe in pulled pork in the crock pot. It’s morally repugnant. I know too many terrible home cooks that think they are gourmet chefs by throwing a big chunk of fatty pork into the crock pot and then dumping bbq sauce on that mushy mess later.
