New York (again)

I know everything has to be considered, but this seems like a bad idea.

Cattaraugus County has NO confirmed cases (though there are likely some out there.)

Bringing up the most severely infected just seems very hazardous..........like people who don't want to re-open any businesses say

So in order to be tested you have to be sick showing enough symptoms, right? They don't want to waste tests on healthy non symptom showing people. 53k positive tests out of 155k tests taken, so that means 102k who are sick but not coronavirus sick. So of those 102K sick people what are they sick with? Flu seems to be the most theorized, why no reporting on 102k sick people of other sickness? Only the media scare tactics and hype about coronavirus! The CDC estimated there were over 60.8 million cases of H1N1 worldwide 2009-2010 and up to 18k deaths in the USA during Obamas tenure, where was the outrage then? Nothing happened, business as usual, nothing shut down the media didn't instill fear and panic. This anti Trump narrative from the media has gone too far and needs to be dealt with swiftly and severely!

We can't have child rapists getting a virus now, can we....

The reasoning is more like child rapists spreading the virus in an enclosed tuna can full of people the county/state is responsible for.

Hard to say what is going on, without knowing what the parole violations are. Parole tends to hilariously ***** with rapists, such as violating them for only getting 8 out of 10 weekly job searches done (in 4 days) to maintain eligibility for DSS benefits (yes, this actually happened - guy got two years for his sanction.)

That's an eye opening chart the powers that be clearly aren't showing during the evening news.

I said that a while ago.  Read the death certificates. What was the actual cause of death?  Dying with something is not the same as (or even close to) dying from something.

I can't find numbers, but reading the footnote for underlying conditions.... It's like a prescriptions side effects: it's anything and everything.

The aggregate number of Americans with diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or asthma would be high.  Not every one is an athlete in perfect condition.

Every footnote matters.

What is the prevalence of these particular diseases in America vs the rest of the world?

This is a respiratory illness, so if the heart stops because of a lack of oxygenated blood: was it Covid or was it a heart attack? And how would you know?

Extremely high would be my guess, however I would like to leave that to the doctors.

Does anybody know what preventative measures are ongoing for the subway system in NYC?

Looked for, but didn't find that info.  It would seem that the MTA would have to be disinfecting the trains and stations quite religiously to keep that from being a major source for the spread of the virus.

I have been saying that for a while, yet have read nothing to indicate anything is being done to disinfect any mass transit system anywhere in the US. I hope it is simply a matter of the "msm" neglecting to report it, and not that it is not being done.

Just not "everybody" though...........right Andy ?

But how badly do you really need those supplies, Governor? Evidently not badly enough to accept Remington Arms’ offer to produce PPE and other medical supplies, such as ventilators.

Remington Arms is waiting for a call back, governor https://townhall.com/tipsheet/juliorosas/2020/04/02/gov-andrew-cuomo-has-not-accepted-remingtons-offer-ppe-ventilators-n2566211

Last I heard is that the trains are clensed every 24 hrs.  Won't matter, because trains are still crowded due to curtailed service.

The hope is that nobody ventures out if they have an inkling of a symptom.

When the time is right there will be a forensic reckoning of the inactions and unpreparedness of NY.  It won’t be from the mainstream media but their statements and actions/inactions are documented.   It’s damning

Polencarz is going something right. Cuomo has said that he will send  National Guard troops to WNY to confiscate  ventilators if need be. Polencarz  said that surprisingly, all of the respirators in Erie County art currently in use.

After deadliest day due to coronavirus, NY to send National Guard to take unused ventilators

Joseph Spector, New York State Team Published 11:42 a.m. ET April 3, 2020 | Updated 7:17 p.m. ET April 3, 2020

ALBANY - New York had its most deadly 24 hours due to the coronavirus, prompting Gov. Andrew Cuomo to say Friday he will call in the National Guard to take unused ventilators and supplies and redistribute them to the places of greatest need.

New York had a shocking 562 deaths since Thursday morning — an average of 23 deaths an hour — as the total number of deaths in the state due to COVID-19 hit 2,935, Cuomo announced Friday.

"You had more death, you had more people coming into hospitals than any other night," he said somberly.

In response, Cuomo said he will sign an executive order that will allow the National Guard to go to hospitals and health-care facilities to take unused ventilators and other medical supplies so they can be used in parts of the state in desperate need of more resources.

Shouldn't he be spending his time trying to get those 30,000 ventilators he and Cuomo were screaming about needing two weeks ago?

He mentioned in his briefing today about all of the entities helping NYS with equipment loans. I kept waiting for him to mention the federal government's 4 hospitals, a hospital ship, thousands of ventilators and millions of masks and other PPE's. That never came but then again he didn't mention that private entity that put up a field hospital in Central Park either.
