H2o
He's had some bad concussions and the team is going into rebuild mode. Walking away with your health intact is more important than playing for 2 or 3 more bad teams.
whatdrought
One of my favorite players. Always wanted him in Blue and White, but I respect the decision. 2 side thoughts: 1- wonder if the coaching change affects this/makes it easier? 2- gotta feel for rhule. Hard enough coming in as the unexpierienced wonderkin, but to do so while losing the rock of leadership on the team is worse.

whatdrought
Also, I do wonder if this is somehow the natural evolution of things... when guys are that big of stars, they get that first contract and realistically never have to work another day or their lives (and can be quite comfortable, If wise).. then it’s only the love of the game to keep them going, and it seems like it would be hard to love the game if it’s mostly rehab and feeling like ***** for you.

But I think at 28, if you are that far out the door that a coaching change ends your career, you were done already. It may help be an excuse but it’s not the decision. 2) gives him a chance to demarcate the old from the new a bit extra potentially. Curious to see if he’s a rip the band aid or a slowly transition guy.

DRA3196
I wish him well if this truly is the end of his career. Going out on his own terms is commendable. It sucks for Panther fans and the league. The NFL could use about 40-50 more Luke Kuechly types, it might help the reputation, perception and image of the game. Those concussions were no joke and he missed major time over it. Zero chance this is a ploy to get out of Carolina he has huge value they would trade him. He is not capable of the beating to his brain without serious damage or possibly already having serious damage I got concussed back in November and am still having occasional aftereffects from it. I'd never want to go through having as many as he has.
