You can almost see that he's surprised that the CB gets the ball which would indicate either he lost the ball (believable and excusable given how far off course it was) or he just wasn't tracking it properly. The DB made a great play on the ball, Jones didn't play the ball.

If you identify that a defense is in man coverage, and one of the guys covering one of your receivers falls over, you throw him the damn ball. The decision making on that play was absolutely mind boggling how stupid it was. Nothing about it makes any sense unless he couldn't properly read a simple coverage. All Allen nothing to be blamed on the OL 3rd basically your saying that Allen felt pressure and decided to throw and long ball floater off the back foot to compensate. THE QB NEEDS TO KNOW YOU DO NOT FORCE THAT THROW. You cannot blame the RT for Allen feeling pressure and deciding to throw a long floater off balance, Allen needs to throw that away or make a high percentage decision

Josh visibly senses the rush that just blows by our RT and throws off his backfoot. Not an excuse though. Allen has to step up and make the throw. The early success Josh had this year was based on short / quick throws. Over the past two weeks, he's reverted to more of a long ball game--thereby putting his RTs in a bad place. I think it may be a function of the higher amount of blitzing he's seeing, which could be messing with his reads/decision making. McD's post game comment about taking what the D gives seems to imply as much--that the INTs were on Josh and not the play call. The coaching staff have to get him back to the "structured Josh" we saw in games 1-2 and not the "playground Josh" we saw yesterday...

It's a touchdown right at the pylon if he throws the ball well. But his feet weren't set and he underthrew it. It's a pattern of play he has had since college. His feet are just not consistent.

It looks to me like Josh is locked on Jones. It also wouldn't make sense from a play design perspective to have the first read be the RB whom you just faked a handoff to. It doesn't make sense. Jones has 4 yards on his man at one point, and is already slowing down to come back to an underthrown ball. If you pause the video you'll see that. When your WR beats his man and has 4 plus yards of separation, and is streaking towards the endzone, do you really want him checking down to a RB out of the backfield?? Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Matt Stafford, thats a TD pass all day long.

A 10 yard pass is much easier than a 40 yard pass. The result showed that pretty clearly. There was no chance of a pass to Gore getting intercepted.

Also even on that play he got the ball off but threw a pick. Had his feet been where they should’ve been I have to think he would’ve thrown a better ball. I think the pressure of such a big game combined with playing the Pats (and everything Belichick three at him) got to Josh. A year and a half ago he was playing for Wyoming. Let’s remember that.
