Singletary is probably one of the best kept secrets in the league right now. He is probably already our best player on offense and almost nobody outside of bills fans, even know who he is.

I hear people say stuff like this a lot, what makes you think other fans don't know of him? Is it because you don't know other teams players? I think anyone that plays fantasy football certainly knows who he is, and that's a lot of fans. I think other fans that pay attention know who he is too.

Because I don’t know other teams players? No I have Sunday ticket and watch every game humanly possible. I am an nfl junkie and watch every play of every bills game pre and regular season, all the games on the mix channel during bills commercials, all the games on the mix channel on the offsetting time of the bills game. I watch every snap of every Thursday night, every Sunday night and every Monday night game...I know the players. It would be very hard to watch more NFL football then I do.

The reason I say people don’t know Singletary is because the Bills get very little national attention. Also Frank Gore has significantly  more touches and is the name people would certainly associate with when looking at our running backs. Also Singletary was behind Shady and Gore all offseason and had very little media attention. He has only played in 2 games and has almost no touches in either one. I’m not being literal when I say NOBODY knows him...but I’d certainly say he is considered under the radar Nationally. If you ask a non bills fan to name the players on the Bills offense, I’d say you’d hear a pretty long list before they got to Singletary. And IMO, he’s our best player on offense.

Most books have it at -7.5 now that the public is overwhelmingly betting the Pats to cover.  I don't think the line will shift at all from here even in that scenario.

It's 7 even and from what I hear there's more $$ on the o/u than the spread. There's certainly no 'overwhelming' action on the Pats

How much would the line shift in that case if we knew that at the beginning of the week?

Pat's only 3 point favs?  Less?

Edelman not playing is a big deal for that offense based on history.

Are you serious?  Neither would move the line even half a point.

Brady and, to lesser extent, Allen are the only players that would move the line if they were out.

It doesn’t even matter who they have or don’t have. If we don’t play great defense they will whoop the dog crap out of us. What matters is how well our defense plays and our execution on offense. Squeeze the damn ball offense. One turn over could kill us.

About 79% action on the Pats as of right now and it's either 7.5 or 7 depending on the sportsbook.

I don’t know that website or if those percentages are accurate but I do know the line opened at 6...

You’ll get more than .5 movement if the action is that one sided.

Everyone's money is already in for the most part.  There would have to very heavy bets coming for Buffalo.  No Edelman might bring some.  Having Singletary won't move the line.

Most casual bettors make their bets on Sunday. If you're talking big money, yes; much of it is already in.

As valuable as Edelman is to that offense, outside of QB, the most a line would move with that type of player is .5 point and I wouldn't even expect that given it's right around a TD. I don't see it dropping below 7 either way.

I don’t think Vegas or the media think much of Singleton yet.

?

(For those who don’t get it, that’s what half the National media call him. He’s not moving the line, nobody outside of WNY knows who he is!)

I don’t think Singletary would make a difference with the point spread, but I do think he needs to play more and he would have a big impact for Buffalo.

Most football fans know who he is...considering millions play fantasy football, he's pretty well known

yeah i love the Motor, and everyone's enthusiasm.   But the kid has a whopping 10 NFL carries in his career, and half of those he had huge holes to run through.  It's the Christian Wade fever all over again with this guy.   I hope he plays, but Frank still looks fast and strong out there.

Singletary's strong performance on a small sample size can't be compared to Wade's legendary first carry and his 48 yard reception. Vanilla preseason gameplans and a less aggressive, lower tempo game speed, in the interests of minimizing wear and tear/significant injuries, have little in common with a real NFL game and offer little other than some indication of players' physical conditions. Major mistakes (Yeldon's fumbles) are somewhat indicative of regular season play, but there's no comparing two big plays in a lax environment to Singletary's promising play so far.

I think Beane cut McCoy primarily out of concern that Shady would take poorly to splitting carries with a 36-year-old and a rookie. Given what the team has shown in the standings and with regards to professionalism/team-first environment, we probably would have been substantially more dangerous with Shady in the mix. Money is never irrelevant, but there's no chance that the Pegulas valued the savings over a potential impact player; there had to have been concerns over fit in the split role/fundamental regression indicating that his play last season wasn't a fluke due to a rookie QB with a historically poor line and receiver/TE corps.

As for the OP, I managed to convince a Pats friend of mine to give me 9 points (obviously 1-1.5 more than any book, but a wager with a friend, especially  on a division game to stay undefeated, makes things even more interesting). This is the most promising team we've had in years, but the Pats have looked tremendous so far (Brady will always be Brady, but the defense looks elite after being weak 2-3 years ago). We have a chance if we harass Brady as we have under McDermott and win the turnover battle, but Josh needs to avoid the 3-5 "WTF were you thinking plays" that will lose you games (he's cut down substantially over time and is making major strides in throwing the ball away, just going down on a hit and protecting the ball, etc. that highlight his unusually rapid progress in fixing major mental flaws to his game).
