Fairburn: Singletary officially out this week

Recommended Posts

Would rather rest Singletary and Johnson anyway this week. I'm not really worried about our depth at the moment. I think Gore and Yeldon can shoulder the load just fine this week.

I agree 100%, H2O. Singletary is electric and we’ll need him as the season progresses. Rest him as long as they can (which will be until our fourth game: I hear they’re good). 😃

Unfortunate.  No such thing as a gimmie game in the NFL, esp if you are the Bills.  The 49ers crushed the Bengals with a running attack, mostly off tackle, Singletary wil be sorely missed imo.

I'm sure a healthy dose of Gore, with some Yeldon, and some motion shenanigans with McKenzie will be fine for a week.

I think we have a consensus here.  Get through the Cincinnati game with a win while resting T Johnson and Singletary, then play NE at full health, or as close to that as possible.  It helps that New England is beat up on their offensive line, enough that Brady is pleading for the officials to let the replacements hold so he has time to pass.

Let him heal up, don't rush back from something like a hammy or else it could turn into a season-long thing that slows him down. Credit to the team's medical staff, as well. Doesn't appear they're in the business of rushing players through a half-assed rehab process just to get them on the field. Seems like they're very well-organized in terms of rehab plans and timelines for returns. Knox missed most of camp with a hammy, came back ready for the season, and the injury doesn't seem to be affecting him at all. I'd rather have a full-go #26 for the Pats than an injured one for the Bengals.

I might be in the minority here, but I'm interested to see what Yeldon can do.

I hope. I still don't have much confidence in Gore. That TD he had last week was nasty for sure, but as far as every down running, Hes well past the prime for that.

Dear Devin,

if you need a massage to loosen up this hammy....don't go to a "spa" where Robert Kraft goes to.

Let's not forget we have a running back at QB as well...........

I think he is more a TE but I am sure he has been asking Gore and Lee Smith tips on straight-arming LBs.

Bummer about Singletary.

I fear we won't see him until after the bye week.

You are not the only one. You could see him get a shot out of a cannon this week.

Miami will be as close as there is such a thing this year... even then it becomes a dangerous trap game to teams looking ahead. Much like the Bungles are for us this week.

Interested to see how Yeldon is used.   He’s not the runner Singletary is, but he provides the dimension of being one of the best receiving backs in the league.

Sorta been waiting for this news.  I think they knew and may even have the game plan around Yeldon.  Think hes a super tough match up for their LBs (more than Gore).  I expect Yeldon to get the most snaps (like I believe Singletary was doing even if he wasnt carrying the rock as much).

Sucks but it's probably the right move. Get him 100% and if he keeps playing like he has thus far, kid will have a good shot at OROY hopefully.
