I am speechless. I am without speech.

....guess I better scrap my "move up to grab Bosa as a punter" thread idea then....oh well......

OP is correct and it takes some balls to project Metcalf as a CB. Scouts and GM’s are gun shy on his three cone numbers but matching him up with the Goodwins, Browns and Tyreek Hills of the league as a cover corner is not a bad idea at all. What all you disciples fail to understand is “versatility” means you place an athlete in the best position to succeed. Laugh all you want but an underperforming speedster WR who is tall and fast is a CB island I’d like to have (or maybe you didn’t notice we acquired an OT who decided to become a TE).

So you are saying 99 percent of this board is wrong on their assessment?

Not wrong...just close minded.

Posted (edited)

This has to be the dumbest post this year. And that says a lot.

Given McDermott’s ability to coach up DBs I don’t think this is such a bad idea. We’re going to need someone to replace Tre when he’s hired to the Sabres coaching staff. Also, converting a 1st rd WR to a CB saves them the criticism of drafting another CB in the first round until training camp starts, which I’m sure has to be a huge consideration for them.

Yes lets draft the guy that has straight line speed but can't change directions to play a position that requires you to change directions even more than WR

I don’t think this is a close minded situation when most everyone comes the the same conclusion that this idea is complete nonsense. In the end who really cares it will never  happen.

Why doesn't this board have a thumbs down button?

And every thumbs down should cost you one reputation point.  It would be fun to see who gets in the negatives first.

If I'm going to draft a player who I think would perform at a higher level in another position, I'm going to risk a late round pick, where I hope to get a first round CB talent with a fifth round WR pick.  There is no way that I will gamble a first round pick on a player and move him to another position with the expectation that he will contribute at a very high level during his rookie contract.

Posts like this are lowering the q

The fact that so many people take threads like this seriously suggests that the collective “q” isn’t that high to begin with.

Hmmmm... do you think maybe the OP could be included in this everyone, perhaps? And is it anymore nonsensical than the myriad “draft an OL and play him out of position” threads that seem to overpopulate the board?

If I was an NFL player, I'd try and increase my value and also be a punter. I mean pretty much all NFL players are physically freaks, I'm sure after working on form and flexibility they could punt just as well or better than some guys out there. Plus it'd free up a roster spot!

Giving a serious , thought out answer to a ridiculous question will just encourage more people like him. Please don't.

or we could just draft a CB if we really want one.  Sounds crazy, i know.

I would like to apologize, with the greatest of sincerity, for contributing to the decay of intelligent thought on this board.

OP falls in the minority, outlier, other than category

Convert Josh Allan 1.0 to a LB, I mean he can jump and stuff...

That's different though. Josh Allen is a QB with a strong arm. We'd be wasting his talents there. It's not like baseball where you can easily play offense and defense. He might make a good LB, but it's just not worth the risk of injury.
