Chiefs release Kareem Hunt after video from February incident surfaces

From what I saw he hit her first and then she hit back and then ..well, he pushed both of them to the ground and then he did kick her.. His career is over, if the Rice thing taught us anything, it is that although the NFL can try its  best to protect its stars, the MeToo movement will be all over this, and the NFL doesn't need anything like that..

He's done!~

Too bad, great talent as well.

Hey yall,

Old BBMB member here. Was not going to create an account but this topic is interesting; I decided to join the fray.

There are some things going on in this situation that make it and the discussion surrounding it particularly interesting:

·         It involves a famous NFL player

·         Involves a male and female

·         There is a video recording of the event

·         Everyone has access to view the video and share their opinion

·         Conflation between what is: legal, “right”

·         Heightened emphasis placed on violence involving players and women from the NFL

·         Many more

The first thing I’d like to address is the conflation between what is legal and what is “right”. Many of the posters in this thread, and people in general, argue that a man should not hit a woman. That is NOT A LAW, rather a moral principle some, I’d say most, try to live by.

From a legal standpoint, this is, at best, a case of simple assault. Most people recognize there are varying degrees of assault, and what happens in this case is much closer to the low end of the spectrum than the high.

Leading up to the kick, the woman and the man are both willing participants in what is happening. They are both free to leave at any time; they both participate in the escalation.

The kick at the end is where the simple assault takes place.

My opinion of the kick is that it is exactly what the law is written for, simple assault. Prosecute it if you want, it’s at best a misdemeanor that would likely be settled with a fine.

If that’s the case, I take it all back.

I was under the impression she put her hands on him first.

But does the video tell the whole story?

Well, from what I’ve read - and there are at least 3 sides to every story - It started in Hunt’s room when the woman refused to “hook up” with Hunt’s friend. Then, Hunt got mad, some sort of “cat fight” ensued between thewoman and Hunt’s girlfriend, and they threw the woman out of the room.

Then the incident in the corridor unfolded.

But the Chiefs have had months to straighten this out - instead, they tried to bury it.

So bloody freaking what?

The circumstances don't matter. You don't push a woman, you don't kick a woman, ever.

How do these guys never learn to stay away from negative people and situations? Just ridiculous.

that being said- it’s also pretty dumb that video can blow up a situation that was already dismissed.

It was dismissed by police, because they didn’t have evidence that a criminal act occurred. The nfl needs much less to discipline, and have proven that.  but the dumbest thing was him doing this in a hotel where there are cameras everywhere. He had to know there would be a video.

I'm going to agree with njbuff on this one. The reason why women think they can abuse men is because of the whole "never hit a woman" rule. They think they're invincible and can go after men because of it.

I'm sure that'll fly when your wife hits you and you give her a black eye.

I'm CERTAIN the cops will understand your tale of woe.

I'm just chiding you bro; you left it open ;)

I do think that Hunt should face discipline--he went after that girl aggressively; not okay.

How do we get 5 pages into a thread and nobody asks why Hunt and his friends didn't the call the front desk or the police and have the women escorted off the premises?

You can't come OUT of the room and pursue an argument like Hunt did and then initiate the physical confrontation..............and then kick them when they are down.

I don't care what happens..........all involved were being stupid..........but it's pretty clear that Hunt crossed an extra line physically and he most certainly would have beaten her pretty badly and lost his ENTIRE NFL future if not for people holding him back.

It's a very bad look for KC having a dude on your team that was trying to beat a woman down.

What is there even to investigate? The NFL investigated this whole thing almost a year ago. Now there’s a video. The investigation is over.

Correction - the investigation WAS over, until the video became public.

Now, Goodell’s and the league’s integrity and credibility are on the line, so all of a sudden the investigation is open:

No the dumbest thing was him leaving his room.

You are paying to stay there which entitles you to have someone else remove the people who aren't guests and are disturbing you.

i mean it on video and so ... is fact actually.

No it isn't. It's far lower that the general population. Check the facts.

Doesn’t matter. Public figures who represent the NFL should be held to a higher standard than the general public. Young children are subjected to this garbage and it’s time for true zero tolerance

The guy that KICKED her while she was on the ground WAS Kareem.

And you seem to be good with kicking an unarmed woman while she's on the ground.

That's what I'm getting out of this.

You don't seem to understand what a kick is.

What about public figures that enforce the law? Off topic, sorry.

Everybody should be held to the same laws. Not pick and choose.

Um, Joe, we’re on the same side of this issue.

The NFL should come down swiftly and hard on this woman-beating thug.

So should the criminal justice system.

Just making stuff up now? The girl pushed the guy that is nowhere near 240 lbs(Kareem isn't even close to 240) near kareem. Kareem then pushed the guy. You and la really need to get your vision checked. Where is this 240lb guy?

I would have walked away, but the woman put her hands on him.

The woman had no right putting her hands on him, so something should happen with her too.

But no, she will get away Scott free, while Hunt faces the severe backlash, unjust or not.

It's a #metoo world...

Lmao i wish there was a video. You could see me get punched in the eye. I ask her if she feels better. She didn't, then hit me in jaw. I laughed and she grabbed a knife. I head to my friends house a couple blocks over while she's screaming my name telling me to stop being a b word and fight her. I Went into raymondos to hide from her. She stood at door screaming for me to come out. Employees said I had to leave. I juked her and tried to jog to friends house but she's faster than me. Grabbed me hit me again, I gave her a bear hug and a kiss. Her cousins came running up and took her back home.  She went home and called the cops on me for beating her. Cops came to my friends and saw me with lumps on my face and her with nothing and her cousins telling them the truth. I declined to press charges and now she gets her ass beat by her current husband calling me to defend her.

To add a little to shed some light on my views. I sometimes ride share on weekends and deal with drunk couples every weekend. Probably 5 couples a night at minimum and every single time they are drunk and the female is trying to fight the guy while the guy is trying to diffuse it. Not exaggerating. Every single time the girl starts a fight if shes not passed out already. That never goes over well then the girl starts going nuts breaking stuff in my car.

If there's a group of girls coming from a bar the conversation is always who they should have fought or beat up.

When females get drunk they are violent.

im just curious, does anyone know his relationship with the woman?

Hired help...

um....that would not provide the right service, or that may have been what Kareem thought.

According to the article the police report indicated the altercation happened at a hotel when she would not hook up with someone in his entourage....so I may just be reading too much into it.

From her interaction with the police afterward it looked like they were all out partying and came back to the hotel. Definitely didn’t look like she was hired.

This should be interesting to watch- does use of the n word trump hitting  a woman? I guess the NFL will let us know.

Where did he hit her? Unless you're listening to @TheTruthHurts or @LABillzFan and Kareem hunt gained 30 lbs, tackled her using all of his body weight, dragged her to the corner and set her up on the turnbuckle and hit her with a 10 piece while the crowd counted.  I'm still trying to figure out what video these two watched.
