Wednesday > Stranger Things ?

Was way way better than I was expecting.

Besides both being on Netflix, I don't see a reason to compare them against each other. I really liked both.

I liked season 1 of Stranger Things more than season 1 of Wednesday

93 % liked it.     7% didn’t.

guess you’re a 7 % er

Fun movie for me, gotta rate on a scale as they don’t make good movies anymore 😂

I liked Knives Out. It's an old fashion drawing room mystery with good characters and nice plot. I was disappointed I settled on the murder long before the end but I appreciated the attempt.  I think Glass Onion is poor imitation. C+ at best. There wasn't much of a mystery and the murderer (again) seemed obvious. Not much of reveal and process to uncover the murderer and overall the story was too contrived.  However, I hope they try again because I like Daniel Craig's character.

I'm not a "game show" fan, but "Taskmaster" out of Britain is great fun.

It may be a stretch to call it a game show, as it's not taken seriously and it's all for laughs. Five comedians compete to win ludicrous "tasks" judged by the "Taskmaster," Greg Davis.  Since nearly all the tasks are taped, the possibilities are endless (up to season 14).

Every season is on Youtube. The episodes are 45 minutes and go by fast. Each season you meet five new comedians/actors. Some of the contestants remain in an Andy Kaufman-ish performance art, but sometimes you're not sure.

The last of us on HBO started this weekend. This is must see for all the people like me to love apocalyptic type movies.

I have seen both episodes so far, and am enjoying it...but particularly with this last episode...they need to be very careful not turning this into another "Walking Dead".

Hopefully it will be a lot more intelligent than that.

If it deteriorates into that sort of thing, I'll quit on it, just as I did with Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead ran too long. I was a huge fan of it and by the time it got to its final seasons I had lost track of it.

Has anyone watched the Netflix documentary “The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker”??

What a crazy story!

Yup!  It was definitely crazy.  I remembered when that interview of him went Viral but I had no idea about any of the stuff that followed and that he was being poached to be a Reality TV star.  I've been enjoying all of these random Documentaries that have been coming out on Netflix lately.

The writing through the first three episodes has been excellent.  The flashback scenes are well done and add a lot of color for a few minutes of screen time.

OK:  I caught this last night and really enjoyed it.  At the very beginning, when they showed the viral video of Kai, I immediately recognized him!  I have seen that video clip on Youtube before!  But I didn't know the rest of the story; he's an interesting character.

I wish they had pursued some of the topics raised more deeply.  For example--the old man that he allegedly murdered toward the end of the show--if Kai was the aggressor and taking advantage of a kind, old man, how exactly did they come to be in each other's company?  Why was the victim with him or helping him?  Why did he buy him a ticket?

There is way more there to that story than the doc explores.

Last comment--that kid has a great head of hair!  He has rock star hair and it looked even better when he cut it toward the end.  The neck/face tattoo wasn't so great.

Thanks for mentioning this; I really enjoy good docs and am always on the lookout for more.

Last night I watched "Vatican Girl" on Netflix.  4 part documentary about a missing 15 year old girl who lived in the Vatican with her family.  Really interesting and highly recommended!

It's worth watching just for all the shots of Rome throughout.

Watched the first 4 episodes of Shrinking on Apple TV this week, and I’ve enjoyed it.  I guess it’s a drama/comedy about a psychiatrist (Jason Segel) whose wife has passed and he starts to resort to “unorthodox” methods with his clients.

Harrison Ford also co-stars and plays and interesting role as colleague/mentor.  Good stuff so far.

If you are looking for a few laughs, try "Cunk on Earth" on Netflix.

The concept is a "know-it-all" journalist named Philomena Cunk, who is doing a documentary on the History of Civilization......the only problem is that the "journalist" is actually incredibly stupid and self-centered....and comedy ensues.

I've actually laughed out loud at some of the ridiculous things she says and questions she asks these very intelligent experts on  History and Ancient cultures, and the answers these poor experts have to try to give her(they aren't in on the joke and try to answer her questions as seriously as they possibly can!).

It turns out that this actress has been doing this character for a few years over in England, but its the first time Netflix has aired one of her "documentaries".

Anyway, if you like that kind of humor, its definitely worth a try.

Finished season 3 of For All Mankind on Apple+, an alternate history drama of the race to the Moon and Mars. Highly recommended for anyone who likes realistic space adventures. I’m hoping there’s a 4th season but that wasn’t clear.

Going back a bit:

On Disney:
She-Hulk was ok but a bit too jokey for my superhero taste. And I didn’t like when they break the 4th wall.

Werewolf by Night was a single movie which I never felt fully explained the reason behind it, other than to introduce some of the monster characters to the MCU.

Star Wars Andor started out a bit dull but it picked up as it went on. It sucks you into to struggle of the emerging rebellion against the evil empire.

Amazon:

The Tomorrow War with Chris Pratt was similar to that Tom Cruise movie where he kept going back in time while fighting aliens. It was ok but somewhat predictable.

The History of Time Travel was a docudrama format about a guy in the 1940-50s who invents a time machine, the creation of the atomic bomb, and the paradoxes of going back to change WWII history. A bit monotone but if you like time travel you should enjoy.

HBO:

Black Adam was disappointing as the story seemed rushed and the character development was sparse for the JSA members.

Elvis gave a really interesting backstory on the relationship with Col. Tom Parker. And the music was very good.

Dune had better visuals than the original movie, but I think I liked the pace of the original better. And it’s disappointing that this movie was only part one.

I am really enjoying this series too.  And holy smoked a Ted McGinley sighting too in this series.

I stumbled upon 'Dear Edward' on Apple+ after I caught myself up with Shrinking. Highly recommend!!!!

Ted McGinley’s character is friggin hilarious!  😂

I have Dear Edward on my list.  Has great reviews, and the story looks intriguing.  The wife and I watched E1 of Poker Face on Peacock last night and it was pretty interesting.  It’s hard to keep up with all these shows!

If you have an iPhone, this is the app I use...

TV Club – simple TV tracker on the App Store (apple.com)

You can add the series you want to see, it'll let you know, if it's a current series, when an episode is coming, and you can check off the episodes you've seen.

Was watching with the gf and we both grew up on Married With Children and she was like "Holy sh*t" is that Jefferson???" I was like....I think so!! haha. Had to look it up and confirm.

Dear Edward is fantastic.

I've to to say that while Apple does not pump out the content at the rate the others do, their shows to me are some of the best in the streaming biz.

Agree. It's very amusing. She never comes close to breaking character.

The actress is in Ricky Gervais' "After Life" - which I highly recommend.

Well this sucks.  My BiL changed his Disney+ password again, and even though he willingly gives it to me, this is the 3rd time in less than a year.  Since the wife and I are looking at dropping our TV package and just going to all streaming, we figured we would just subscribe ourselves.  Well, Roku will not support the Disney+/Hulu with Ads package for $10, we had to get the no-ads package for $20/month.  (We were also getting Hulu from her co-worker for several years, and had no issues but figured we would just bundle the two together anyways)

I read today that a 4th season has been approved, but not if it has started filming yet.

Loving “Full Swing” on Netflix. Nice mix of focus on bigger names and lesser known pros. A little too much catering to people who don’t know anything about the PGA Tour (they defined “the cut” 4 times in the first 4 episodes), but that’s a minor quibble.

huge stock up - Tony Finau, Ian Poulter

stock down - Brooks Koepka

Oh yeah, one more thing…

Will watch but I heard Koepka is a jerk.   Just binge watched Daisy and the Six on Amazon. Good fun. Beautiful people. The Tammy Wynette/George Jones series on Showtime was also good but sad

Great show.  Joel Dahmen is my new favorite PGA pro.  The LIV stuff is fascinating.

Verizon wireless is offering Disney+/Hulu with ads/ESPN+ with some of their unlimited data packages FYI if that is your carrier.

My wife switched to one a few months ago, her bill went up around 5$ but still seemed worth it to get those streaming packages included.

We devoured "Outer Banks" all 3 seasons in about a week and a half.  I really enjoyed that series, which was a surprise.  Season 4 was nicely set up in the last episode of Season 3.

Also polished off the new Netflix series about the missing Malaysian Airlines flight.  Knocked it off in a single night.  I enjoyed it and it's worth watching, but it was ultimately disappointing in that it never really came close to reaching any sort of conclusion.  Some of the "conspiracy" type theories put forth seemed kind of far fetched to me.

I have still yet to watch "Im Westen Nichts Neues" on Netflix but am really looking forward to that.

If you're into some dry British comedy with a bit of history (yes, it's actually based loosely on a true story), the first 3 episodes of Our Flag Means Death are out on HBO Max.  Wife and I love it.

Has it held up?  I've been seeing a lot of ads for the latest season and am thinking of watching it.
