BuffaloBillsForever
Ralph is probably rolling over in his grave right now. Pegula should be ashamed of himself as well. For someone who is such a pansy when he talks about his teams and his town, sure sells out like a B word. Ralph Wilson is the one that should be ashamed. Wilson cried poor about revenues, threatening to move the Bills and scammed/scarred bills fans into buying season tickets over the last two decades but he didn't do the one thing that was easiest for him to help maximize revenues in a small market - selling the naming rights. Pegula selling the naming rights to new era is the smartest thing a bills owner has done in the past 20 years. mrags
if you can build a $700 million business on baseball caps you are entitled to atrocious signsi respect that answer. I still think it's a horrible sign for the front door to the stadium. But I do respect that. Well done.

John from Riverside
In my opinion it makes the bills more legit.....everyone knows who New Era is.....and they are identified with sports Buffalo (and as a fan of whom has NEVER gotten closer then Cape Cod MA) has often been identified with "small market, are they even a part of new york, shoudnt they be a part of Canada, its always cold, you hear the old stupid sayings" Well New Era is NOT small market.....but the nice thing is it IS based out of the Buffalo Area So its all about a community thing.....lifting each other up by the boot straps. I love it.....Go bills

BaaadThingsMan
Everybody sees that sign whether entering or driving by the stadium. Why not show the latest selection. It looks like a billboard because it is. This is just the first step in a multi level marketing campaign. This partnership will be good for both the Bills and New Era as well as the NFL. ALLEN1QB
I get it, you just paid millions for the naming rights. But you are really going to stand there and replace the front door of the stadium with the former deceased owners name with a stupid advertisement for hats? You couldn't come up with some sort of decent logo, signage. Instead it looks like a stupid billboard off the 190. Ralph is probably rolling over in his grave right now. Pegula should be ashamed of himself as well. For someone who is such a pansy when he talks about his teams and his town, sure sells out like a B word. Dude its a freaking business! Augie
From a branding standpoint I thought that it was pretty good. They stayed true to their brand that is recognized around the world and tied it into the Bills. You would never see Mercedes-Benz use a square to promote their brand or Nike a diamond. They have built these brands up over many, many years and they don't want you to have to figure out who it is. New Era is the most famous cap company in the world. They are going to keep their brand message and marks the same in all advertising. LOOK! I found a post that was on topic and made sense! Mister Defense
Yes, sad and pathetic. Just because 'this is what is done" in the NFL does not make it the right thing to do or a classy move. If the company wants to sell things and also enhance its image it should incorporate Ralph Wilson's name into the stadium's name: Ralph Wilson New Era Stadium ? A bit more classy, and more logical too. If not, shame on the Pegulas for this move and on New Era too.

DCbillsfan
Like the name of the field. The sign is weak. Hopefully just temporary until they get a better one. There are some (like Lambeau) but a team is foolish to forsake $3-$5M a year (whatever the number was) just because. Again, just because this is done doesn't make it right. The fact is the stadium is named after the founder and should retain that name. No football in this town without Ralph. I am less likely to buy the goods of New Era if his name is not part of this stadium. Makes sense from a community point of view and for the company to include his name. So, why not done? Answer: because others have not done so. Poor reason. No class without it.

Facts: -- Ralph named the stadium after himself when the Rich Foods deal expired; how classy is that? -- Ralph continued to preside over his personal memorial until 2012 when he finally gave the go ahead to sell the naming rights -- Pegula chose not to pursue a naming rights deal during his first year of ownership out of respect for Ralph -- Once they did pursue a deal, they didn't sell out for the most money, they targeted a locally-owned, nearly 100-year-old business that is already affiliated with the NFL -- completely illogical! -- What other owners have their names associated with their teams' stadiums? I just don't understand people.

I agree 100% with this. New Era Field at Ralph Wilson Stadium would be a good option. Something like that. But I won't take away from that too much. It's a new owner and a new naming deal, I get it was going to happen eventually. I just don't like the cheesy billboard they chose for the front door. It looks cheap at the very least. A serious kind of signage would have been good. You don't see MetLife, or Gilette Stadium with a cheap overnight billboard wallpaper advertisement on it.
