I love Buffalo, I love the Bills, but I don't think Carson Palmer has the same feeling for Buffalo. He has a "short list" of teams he will accept a trade to...if a deal is not worked out with one of those teams, he will retire...he says...don't waste too much time pining for this to happen. Not a choice I'd want to pursue ... and certainly hope it's not one the Bills want ... and I don't think Palmer wants to ride the bench behind Fitz and that's all the Bills would offer because they are not about to start a QB competition for the starting job this summer. However, FWIW, Ryan Fitzpatrick was 4-7-1 in the games he started whereas Carson Palmer was 0-4 with the same team. Oh wait…were you talking about Jordan Palmer? As long as he understands that the job will not be given to him and that if he want's to start then he will have to beat out Fitz in training camp. I think it could be a very healthy environment for him. If he does end up winning the starting job, we will have a serious weapon-- especially with Chan as our HC. Palmer is threatening to retire if they don't and swears he will never play another game in Cincy. Sticky situation, but if he leaves, Cincy will want some kind of compensation for him. If he is healthy and comes at a fair price, I would love to see them get him and give him a chance to beat out Fitzpatrick at the starting job. If this hurts Fitz's feelings, then I say let him go, I want guys here that are good and can play, not guys who will get their feelings hurt cause of some competition. I don't think anybody's feelings would be hurt, but I do think they would push each other for the starting job. Palmer has put up some serious numbers for the Bengals but that is a team that just hasn't been able to put all the pieces together. I wouldn't mind him coming to Buffalo at all. Johnson who demanded a trade a few years ago was denied and all he did was whine about it. The Bengals were even offered a first round draft pick for the guy and turned it down. Right now all the Bengals have at QB is Jordan Palmer, Carson's younger brother, who has very little game experience. That rookie QB Andy Dalton might turn out to be a really good NFL QB but i highly doubt he starts simply because the HC Marvin Lewis sat Carson Palmer his first year when he was first drafted as a rookie. Bottom line is Paul Brown will either let Palmer retire or return as a Bengal, no way they trade him to any team. He strikes me as a guy who only cares about the chance to win, and even if Buffalo is improved, he won't have a chance to seriously contend. Teams I can see him accepting a trade to, in order: Cardinals: They had, possibly, the worst QBs in the league last year. Put Palmer in this situation and they become a vastly improved team; it wasn't so long ago that they went to the Super Bowl. Vikings: Not a bad team, unless age catches up to them. I can see Palmer wanting to play there, and they'd probably pull the trigger. Browns: They're probably only a consideration because Cincinnati and Cleveland are relatively close by. Raiders: Oakland isn't terrible, although I think Jason Campbell is a solid player. It's unclear how Palmer would feel about playing for Al Davis, though. Redskins: Less likely: owner has a bed rep, and the time would need to acquire someone like Santonio Holmes in free agency, plus a running back. If they make those moves, Washington has a shot. Miami: They reportedly want to stick with Henne, but they're not a terrible team and certainly have the cash for free agent splashes. San Francisco: They probably want to try out Alex Smith and Kaepernick, but as someone stated, he's from northern California. Another option: there's always a decent probability of an elite QB going down early in the season, and without the organized workouts, players could be particularly suspect to injury at the beginning of this season. The trade deadline may even be lifted (who knows?) and if, say, Brady's knee gives out again from a hard hit like Pollard's, that team would pick up Palmer in a second.
