  1. Teams make trades they don’t work out all the time. Remember when the eagles traded Edmunds and two picks for Byard? Remember how that made Howie Roseman a genius? The Eagles just released him. Half a season of a guy that didn’t put them over the hump at all cost them a 4th and a 6th. Sometimes you take a swing and miss.
  2. Good stuff here: https://www.cover1.net/safety-julian-blackmon-visiting-bills/ Also interesting note, Blackmon was drafted for Matt Eberflus’ defense in Indy. His concepts are very similar to ours, that’s why Chicago went after Tremaine Edmunds. When you watxh the video on Cover 1, Blackmon looks like a cross between Hyde and Poyer. I think he’s a great fit and my optimistic gut says it happens.
  3. Like Elam? Cody Ford? Dawson Knox? Tremaine Edmunds? Just messing with you. No GM gets home run picks on every trade up. I’d rather he trade down and accumulate capital in the early rounds.
  4. Trade for Edmunds. Turn Von into a safety.
  5. I honestly don't know about the rest of you, and frankly I don't even care, but I am just about ready to get naked and start the revolution because after the Edmunds 4th round comp pick debacle I believe its high time to go Gary Oldman in "The Professional" demon-level-pay back on this overwhelmingly high level of horse **** we are seeing right now.
  6. Incorrect. They got Tre White and Tremaine Edmunds for the only notable draft pick value that they acquired for the Patrick Mahomes pick trade. People have been mis-stating for years that the Bills were able to move up for Allen with draft pick capital acquired in the Mahomes pick trade...........surprised you are one of them.
  7. Because it would appear based on the 9ers also having the Jimmy G pick that was equally predicted as a third knocked down (see they were affected too) that time missed has taken both Edmunds and Garropolo out of the 3rd round range they were in by contract value and reduced them to round 4. And it has happened within weeks of the season ending. This coming Sunday will be 4 weeks on from the Superbowl.
  8. I hope the Bears do with him what they did with Edmunds last year. Pay that big salary to get us a better comp pick. I like AJE, have really enjoyed watching him progress and wish we could hang on to him, but if we can't that would be the next best outcome IMO.
  9. Edmunds Oliver epenesa rousseau basham Elam bishop We’ve acquired 7 defensive players and 7 offensive players with rd 1-2 picks. Edmunds wasn’t a reason we didn’t win a SB those 5 years- solid starter, definitely not a difference maker Oliver- very good player after continued improvement. A non factor in the playoff losses Epenesa- similar to Oliver in that he just continues to improve. Also similar in the fact that he doesn’t come up big in season finales Rouesseau- very good player- as one of the last players selected in rd 1- I think of him as good value. See above- no pass rush when needed most. basham- bust bum city- Beanes worst pick imo Elam- physical talent- just like all the bills 1st rd pick. They hoped he’d be a quick learner. He hasn’t been, but he still has a chance. High upside player imo. Bishop-tbd but I think we’re going to love him. The kid bangs and can cover. Poyer was our thumper enforcer in the rear. Bishop bring much more thump. Physicality. Imo- It all comes down to the DL. Pass rush rules the game and we’ve had none in our season ending losses. Zilch. I think Beanes free agents on the DL have been worse than the draft picks. Either due to injury, being bad or not showing up in the playoffs, his investments aren’t coming up making plays when we need them too. Coaches can help put them in better position- but ultimately, the players have to make plays. 3 years in a row, we’ve been without our best defensive player in the playoffs. White, von then Milano (along with many others). Those are the guys you count on to make the big plays. If Chris jones were to miss the 23 playoffs and sneed moss the 24 playoffs, I’d bet they have 2 less Lombardis.
  10. Yeah there was an edge defender list recently where they had Rousseau ranked VERY highly. I chose not to interject/link it because so many people hate PFF. But PFF loves Rousseau. And the reason is that he gets a lot of what qualifies as pressure while maintaining his responsibility in run defense/contain. What fans see is that he hasn't been finishing enough plays. That's what needs to happen for him to cross over from misunderstood to a star. I suppose one could have said the same thing about Edmunds to some extent........but there was a large group of homers who went out of their way to promote a narrative about Tremaine that wasn't true(that he made it impossible for teams to throw over the middle when, in fact, teams were often throwing right at him).
  11. To be truthful, I don't think Edmunds enjoyed contact. Mitch Morse said about Josh Allen that "he's sick in the head because he likes it" (meaning contact, running people over, taking a good hit). Richard Sherman talked about the first time he went to tackle Josh Allen, Josh lowered his shoulder and Sherman was thinking "oh, OK now, you the QB and you're going to lower your shoulder, let's go". He said "next thing I know, I'm on the ground, you see them little blinks". You would know more than me, but I've heard football players talk about the buzz they get from contact, it goes white, "you see them little blinks", it's an adrenaline rush. They all get desensitized to the pain of contact where instead of taking over their nervous system with a rush of sensation, the brain says "OK, no injury there, Carry On", but the ones who play with joy and abandon actually get something enjoyable from a good hit. "You need a little contact" I could be wrong, I just don't think Edmunds ever enjoyed or got into hitting or taking hits. Whereas you can tell Bernard and Williams are "Bring It!". Taylor Rapp is a bit *TOO* "bring it!".
  12. I'm not sure "signed a second contract with the team that drafted them" is a good criterion to decide if a player is a "hit" or a "miss". Take, for example, Edmunds. Did he sign a 2nd contract with the team that drafted him? No. Was it because he was a "miss"? No, he started 5 years for the Bills and didn't sign a 2nd contract only because he made himself a very high priced FA, and we prioritized re-up'ing our 1st round QB (drafted that same year) and 1st round DT. And (for example) 2019 QB Daniel Jones counts as a "hit" because he was offered a 2nd countract - but do Giants fans count him as a hit? Do we?
  13. If Bernard and Edmunds were both free agents this year who would get the bigger contract?
  14. I wouldn't mind if Beane got a package together to move up into the 3rd round seeing as they don't have 1 this year and have them get say 9 players maybe, I was really hoping & Beane probably was too to get a 3rd for Edmunds which i feel they got screwed out of but got to make chicken soup out of chicken S**T this year i guess . I have all the confidence that Beane will get er done !!
  15. I think there may have been less interest in 2021 when the team was essentially "running it back" with few personnel changes and was widely expected to contend again. In general, though, I think you are right After the 13 seconds game in 2022, there was pretty intense interest in how the Bills were going to respond and a lot of sh**ing on McDermott, and of course, there were feelings about the big Von Miller signing, and what the Bills were going to do to fill in for Tre White early in the season. In 2023, there was interest in how the Bills were going to handle Von Miller coming back from injury, how they were going to replace Tremaine Edmunds, and whether Gabe Davis would take a step as the full time #2 (also whether Harty and Sherfield would contribute) And of course now, there's intense interest in the WR corps as well as what are we going to do at Safety
  16. Yes explaining how Jimmy G has more of an impact on the raiders when he was benched half the season over Tremaine Edmunds who started every game for the bears is mind boggling and after this news. I also think Beane is either 1 more active in free agency then he first thought or 2 now possibly plans on trading back to early round 2 to recomp a 3rd
  17. Bengals fans are mad because they lost their starting safeties and only get two 6th round picks. I don’t know how much those two signed for in FA, but Beane was careful to navigate the cap to ensure we’d get a 3rd for Edmunds $18M/yr contract. He said he even spoke to people to make sure his signings weren’t jeopardizing that. Something does feel wrong here.
  18. Edmunds: 875 snaps; 100% 10 weeks, missed 2 games with 0%. Garrapolo: 325 snaps; 100$ 4 weeks, missed 10 games with 0%. Bates: 1133 snaps; 100% 15 weeks. Hargrave: 730 snaps; no snap count over 71%. Missed 2 weeks. Taylor: 1076 snaps https://overthecap.com/compensatory-picks Morris and Ryans/Carthon really must be something special to impact the game played by players.
  19. And yet another reason to be glad that we didn't back up the Brinks truck for Tremaine Edmunds
  20. Which is why Allen will never win MVP and why guys like Edmunds and Smith are pro bowlers. The narrative is the lack of consistency with Allen (which to be fair, is accurate) but at the same time, the other guys will never win you the game on their own, Allen and Lamar can and have.
  21. I see Davis as the offensive loss equivalent to the departure of Edmunds on defense. Davis was a starter the last 2 seasons had very good games but also was what he was and played a certain way. A way the defense knew how to stop or contain. Samuel offers diversity in attack. Has the speed to run past coverage while also experience running routes and receiving handoffs out of the backfield. Samuel makes the offense harder to defend and excels at beating man. Buffalo has struggled to beat man if Diggs is taken away.
  22. Only reason I thumbs downed this is I think Brown is a Bills lifer....if Big Baller is on his game he will get an extension sooner rather than later. Remember Big Baller is ALL IN on this guy....ALL. IN. I say an extension is coming soon. Pay him early and gain the rewards. Brown hopefully likes it here.....certainly he likes JA17......how many teams have a JA17 to like??? Not the one who can afford to throw massive cash at him that's for sure. Let's just have Big Baller bring up Edmunds during the the $$$ talk. Would you like to be Edmunds on HIS team now?? Big Bucks and a team that SUCKS????? Kinda doubt it....we shall see
  23. Some people will go out of their way to sneak in a backhanded dope slap thread at Edmunds.
  24. And there’s not a single physical characteristic where Bernard has the edge. Size, height, strength, speed, wingspan, all Edmunds. But Bernard is a football player and Edmunds is an athlete on a football field and therein lies the rub.
