This.  We can get even out the head to head and record with NE when we rematch.  But only if we win our games before then.  But even then NE still has the tie breaker as they are 2-0 in the division and we are 2-2.  So even if we beat NE and tie their record, they will be 2-1 and we would be 3-2.

I am not worried about a Wildcard, there is little doubt we will get in with at least a wild card.  We need to win the division at the very minimum if not still get the 1 seed.  Both are very much still in play.

This isn't a team that needs to play 3 road playoff games.  Not with this defense and not with roller coaster Josh we have this year.  We need to get the division and we need to push for the 1 seed.

I think our only chance at the division is to win out. If we end 14-3 beating New England along the way they would only need to lose 1 more game which is almost certain to happen. If we slip up and tie with them at 13-4 they get the division based on division record. We likely get the #1 seed as well if we win out. Very tough needle to thread but it's doable.

After losing to the Falcons and the Dolphins …. Every game is a big game.

Yeah those were not supposed to be our throw away losses...  The @ Houston and Eagles game were.

I could see the Pats losing twice in a row to us and the Ravens, especially in Baltimore.

Yes, no easy task, and we did it to ourselves losing three games we had no business losing if not for self inflicted issues.  Our best hope with NE is if they lose one more and its also a divisional game.  Assuming we beat them, they would have 1 divisional loss and we would have 2.  Also assuming neither of lose prior to that game, then we would have the same record, but they hold the tie breaker with the 1 divisional loss.

So, if they do lose a game, then hopefully its in the division, because that gives us breathing room if we do something stupid and lose another game, like the Phily game for example.  At least then we would still be tied and they no longer have the tie breaker on divisional record.

If they do lose another game and its not in the division, then we would have to win out as only way to get the division.

Joking aside, why do people vacation in Mexico of all places!?

If you are a northern hemispher dweller then in November you have no choice but to head south. The weather is good, they have adults only 5 star resorts and they are a little bit cheaper than the Carribean. That is the full summary of my decision making.

I didn't think much of it, until I looked closer.  Yes, they're chasing us for Wild Card, but then I looked at other Wild Card teams in the standings.

We have a two-game lead on them, Chiefs and Ravens.  We already own tie-breakers with the Chiefs and Ravens.  With those tie-breakers, a win this Thurs. effectively gives us a three-game cushion.  More so, should we end up with a three or four way tie, we'd still own the tie-breaker, as we would have beaten all of them head-to-head.

Now, don't get me wrong, I still want the division, and haven't given up on that, but a win Thurs. would give us a lot of security for at least making the playoffs.

Honestly, every one of these games is do or die.  That’s where we are at right now.  We have to beat the Pats and the ravens have to beat them the next week.  We do that and run the table we keep our AFCE crown.

There are times I truly believe this team/franchise is cursed.  What kind of “luck” is that last year we were 8-2, had just beaten the undefeated Chiefs and had a very small chance of getting the 1 seed.   Now, in 2025, we’re only one game worse.  Yet only a small chance to even win our division because the Pats keep pullin miracles out of their arses.

Not to mention, just as Josh ascended and we routinely are at least in play for the 2 seed… the league changes the playoff format and makes us play on WC weekend.

I get that they need to stop having complete meltdown games like Miami. But I also feel like every year there’s just some force making every thing harder than it should be for the Bills.  We just never seem to catch any breaks.

The rushing offense last week was suspect outside of Josh.  Hopefully the OLINE can get right this week or else Josh is gonna face a persistent pass rush.  Bills giving up way too many sacks this year (20 and counting).  If Mills is the QB, that simplifies the LBs job as a spy is likely unnecessary.

I think defenses have decided that James Cook has to be stopped and are stacking the box more in the last couple games (Miami and Tampa)  In the Buccaneers game, I think Brady started to figure that out and adjusted his strategy accordingly.  Houston will look at what Buffalo did and try to counter it.  That's how the NFL works.  The best teams are not one dimensional.  If opponents focus on shutting down one aspect of their offense, they will have the ability to do something else.  No defense can shut down everything at the same time.  Most of the time there is a guessing game going on between offensive and defensive coordinators on opposing teams when the teams are multidimensional.

Oddly, if they had used the toss sweeps against Miami, their run game probably would have done better. Probably why Brady tried them this week.

Ya I'm not against them if they work, just feel like we've seen alot of them since the bye week

Gotta get this game on Thursday. If we get the W? We're right there among the Colts, Broncos, and Patriots.

Colin Cowherd having Ravens (5-5) 2 spots ahead of us on his Hierachy is absolutely laughingly bad. We'll see this Thursday if that holds up.

The more I think about this game the more I think James Cook needs to be the star.

If you can find a way to get Cook around 100 yards in the game the Texans safeties can be had.  They haven’t been great in the deep middle of the field this year, and that might be the only real weak spot on their D

Texans defense is scary good and fast

Google AI tells me that teams with a good offensive line can exploit their defensive tackles, while their safeties are vulnerable to play action.

Of course, Google AI also admits it is a "long-term existential threat," so...

This is a huge test for our offense, most importantly.  We need to get into a groove (consistently) and let Josh be Josh against these types of defenses.

Be curious how Joe Brady adjusts vs an opponent that had our number last year.  Hes been fairly successful at his 2nd attempt against teams that have had success against us (Ravens, Jets, others).

On defense, I want to see us sell out against the run and get more aggressive on 1st downs with blitzes.  I think we can win upfront against their OL, so maybe we see our front 4 fairs for 1-2 drives to start.

This is a game we absolutely need to execute sharply on offense, ie: Chiefs game, and hold them below 21 points.

I could see the Pats dropping 1 or 2 that no one expects, too.  Giants, Bengals, Jets or Dolphins can all beat them on a given day.

Miami was an inch or so out of bounds from beating them the 1st time.

And Hendrickson may not play

He's been hurt for weeks now.

Bengals D is giving up close to 40 a game.  That is why the Pats will win.
