The second he’s ready physically he needs to play. The draft was in April. He’s had plenty of time. The scheme isn’t that complicated and the guys we are playing are terrible. He’s not good to be worse. Put him out there as soon as it’s possible and leave him there for 5 years. Do not McDermott this thing up and waste another month. I don’t care if he doesn’t even know the plays. Play him

Let us go back to training camp... if I remember correctly, he was not lighting it up... he hadn't even made it to a pre season game...  the last competitive football game he played in was Dec/Jan of 2024/2025...  McD does not like rookies who don't know the defense, he seemed to be in that category... and he also needs to get into football shape and demonstrate he has recovered from what seems to be a pretty serious although not ominous knee injury... he also as a bit of a history at being injured...  this all adds up to me as his impact will be quite limited thru the next few weeks at least...  he will more than likely in my opinion be given simplified tasks.. like cover Worthy... where he goes you go...  (if he is even activated by then)  what concerns me most is the tackling responsibilities that our DBs are forced to take on because our front 7 is pretty horrific... will he be able to do that as I don't think he is known as much of a tackler... AND stay healthy... what does this mean...  I don't think we have seen the last of Tre at least for a significant while...

I doubt it.  Leg injury means they are not running..which means their cardio is off;  I can't seem them put him on an NFL field without the proper conditioning

IMHO I would think that he has been doing some kind of light running recently maybe not so much cutting or turning which he will need to get back up to speed that way but to think he hasn't done any type of drills I don't think would be part of the rehab .

I believe in the very beginning he would have no running what so ever but at some point I would think the medical staff would have to have him on a leg or stair master type machines and doing some kind of light running drills to make a determination that he was ready to come back .

But I only play a doctor on TV so I wouldn't know for sure 🤣 .

The 4-3 Panthers are no pushovers. Bills and Panthers are both 2nd in their otherwise weak divisions.

Question is will Andy Dalton better or worse than Bryce Young?

That's not going to happen for some time.

They are almost certainly not going to activate him to play this week. The earliest I think you can hope for is next week against the Chiefs. Even then, it wouldn't surprise me if they used all 21 days in the Practice Window before they deemed him ready to see the field.

And *even then*, they aren't just going to throw him in the fire and start him off the jump. The first week he'll be on a limited snap count, that will see a ramp up over the first few weeks, if things go swimmingly after getting his proverbial sea legs under him.

Hairston putting White on the Sidelines won't happen until like Week 11 or Week 12 at the earliest. And only if he's taking to everything well.

This ^^^ they will likely platoon Hairston in with an increasing workload over weeks.

We pretty much need Hairston to be a good NFL starter by the end of the season to have a chance at a 'chip.

can he play WR too

The kid has physical attributes and showed he has skills in the most complete conference in college. Baring physical limitations from the injury, there is no reason this kid isn’t better than Trey right now. Let him learn on the field, that’s the KC way. It’s now on coaches to stop trying to make mediocre athletes into good corners and make a great athlete into an elite corner!

I was watching the Lions game last night and was in awe at how aggressive their secondary was. They were talking about how all those players are new or taking over for injured guys. Its amazing to me the Bills secondary cannot be that aggressive. Its not like they havent made the investment

Also Kelvin Sheppard is going to get HC interviews this offseason. That dude has them playing hard

Maybe... just maybe he can bring something sorely needed to our defense.

A new DC? That's really the only way

Somewhere buried in one of these threads is the comment, that I heard as well, from some caller on talk radio who claims to have met Hairstons family at a Bills game weeks ago who said his target to return was week 10.....FWIW...if this were true, a couple more weeks before he is activated.

I remember the comment as well. FWIW, it was made when we were 4-0. Plans change. It depends how desperate McD is... the games Penix and Maye had against his secondary should make him a bit desperate. If Andy Dalton lights them up, he should definitely give it serious consideration if there is no additional physical risk to Hairston involved. Not making changes would basically be conceding the game to KC.

Dude hasn't stepped on a field since week 2 of TC, and even then Tre was ahead of him.

I doubt we see him for 2-3 weeks, if not more.

I mean he got hurt in the first practice of TC didn't he?  How does that have any relevancy?

Zero reason to play him this week or next.

Give him two more weeks and then let him start against Miami.

He's not starting right off the bat when he comes back. Most likely will see a series or a quarter and rotate out. He's still a long way from earning a ton of snaps a week.

This is why hopefully while he's been out he has been in the playbook, watching film, dedicating himself to his craft.

I remember Josh's rookie year when he got banged up and missed a few games. He looked like a much sharper player when he got back and said the extra time off the field helped him. Hopefully, that plays out here as well

I agree. Would I love him to get some playing time, especially if we are up big against the Panthers, sure. He's had 4 practices in the NFL, 0 preseason games. The likelihood that they'll throw him out there against KC with under two weeks of practice are extremely unlikely.

I agree he's not going to start versus KC.  When he is activated to the 53 man roster, I expect his snaps will be few and far between.  As the season progresses, the number of snaps that he gets will depend on how well he's doing/
