He was one of the lowest graded safeties last year according to PFF, and pretty low the year before as well.

Who Simmons?  I see 59.9 for last year, which is about average, and for 2023 a rating of 67.9.  In another thread someone (YattaOkasan) said "Pro football reference has him with a 82 passer rating when targeted last year which also shows hes not washed at all."

For CJ Gardner I only see 2025overall grade of 63.4- I now see a 2024 grade of 77.

Tyler Rapp shows a 2025 pff rating of 42.2

Has to clear waivers...

Then you pay his current contract as is.   A lot of teams are against the cap and unlikely to spend on his full contract.

if he clears waivers then teams are free to sign him to a new contract

Boy, when you are a team with some expectations and start 0-3, there will be some shakeups....or losing to the Carolina Panthers 30-0.  Those situations cannot happen.

That’s not what they ste saying here in Charlotte💪😎

Stroud is an arrogant  a$$ and I am enjoying his humble pie moment.

59.9 was ranked 114th among safeties. He allowed a passer rating of 105.1. Damar Hamlin ranked higher than him.

The guy is talented, the fact he can’t get a long term contract and has bounced around a lot, raises red flags.  Talent wise, I’d take him as a rental.

Hmmm he's been traded a lot recently and the Eagles moved off of him fairly quickly after giving him a 3 year deal and now the Texans let him go. That tells me one of two things, either his play has deteriorated to the point that teams no longer think he can be a starter or he's a royal pain in the ass and teams don't want to put up with him anymore. Maybe a little bit of both could be the case as well.

This just reeks of when this board wanted Diontae Johnson badly because he had a couple of good season with the Steelers only to find out he was an absolute headcase. I think this might be a similar situation.

The question is, "What attitude would he come in with?" Would he come in with a chip on his shoulder from what's taken place and be on a, "Let's go get this ring," type of mission? Or is he just generally a selfish, me first, problematic type of individual? If we could get version 1, absolutely. We don't need a problem child on the team though, if it really is version 2.

Saw where people were saying he’s a locker room cancer.

No, he’s just a player that wants to win and be utilized correctly. He would be an absolutely ball hawk playing behind a healthy Bills front 7. Will never happen, but would be an immediate upgrade over Rapp and you know McDermott gets the absolute most out of his safeties.

I'm thinking he's heading to Miami.  They are in desperate need of backend help.

If he wants to win and be used correctly, he’s not going to that dumpster fire.

We are going to be at he quarter pole of the season after this weekend. Unless there is an injury, I don’t see any way McD brings in someone new to the system. We’ve all given Bishop the excuse that this defense is incredibly complex and takes 2 years to get comfortable in so how are we going to bring in a guy after 4 games and think he’s going to work out?

People say he's a locker room problem and that's probably true, but if the Eagles sign him nobody will bat an eye. He was PFF's 13th ranked safety in 2024 so it's not like he is washed. I would like to have a player with that kind of edge on defense. A psycho that makes the opponent hear footsteps, and he would be a great chess piece for our team if not a full time starter. But realistically there's no chance we will add a player like that.

Yeah but if you approach it right this becomes a positive. I think every Super Bowl team has a couple jerks that you hate to root for.

Anyways it's a moot point. The Bills will not be the team making that call.

Part of the perks of building a culture like we have, should be the ability to roster a talented but difficult personality. Atleast guys on a 1 year deal.

After a year you let them leave before the crazy to hot ratio moves back to no-go land.

Does he want potential revenge? Just wants to win?

Im sure we won't, but bet we kick the tires and put out a call at minimum

I mean Hyde and Poyer weren't washed until they were and they both fell off a cliff fast. Just because he was a good safety a year ago doesn't mean he's still got it. If a team like the Eagles was like "nah we're good" I think that's enough for me to also think the same.

This guy is 27, so not washed and completely dofferent then poyer/hyde twilight years lol the other points may be valid, but he started on a SB winning defensive powerhouse.

Im not saying do it, at all... but Sirriani can handle him, and McD cant? That whole team was sick of each other year before Saquan.

The Texans are circling the drain

I got lambasted for saying that they would struggle in August. They decimated their Oline. And they have a WR problem. I think there was an injury and suspension to deal with at WR, to be fair. But I for one am not surprised much, I did expect a 500 team, it's a long season.
