So just like I say every year….the entire process is whole lot of energy and time expended over next to nothing. I really have to wonder when the NFL will do away with the entire farce that the preseason has become.

This!

90% of this board guessed the top 48-50 guys.

18 game schedule, 2 bye weeks, no preseason games!

Suddenly our vaunted (even by me, repeatedly) O-line depth doesn't look quite so deep. Maybe overreacting to Anderson and Van Demark looking less compelling in our limited glimpses this summer, and Grable getting banged up.

That's what I'm pinning my hopes on. I'm sure front offices saw VanDemark against the chiefs and Anderson in his year as 6th OL. Grable is concerning. He sounded like a potential starter, until this long recovery concussion.

Looks like someone who made the team, didn't.

I do agree that it looks like he's going to the 53. However, we did play this game a couple days ago with Jordan Phillips. And like Phillips, Franklin is a vested veteran (I actually made the mistake of thinking he wasn't in another post) - that is not subjected to Waivers. So it could be a Practice Squad signing.

If it is a 53 signing, I'd look at WR or Safety to make room for him. Those are the only spots on the roster where we're carrying more than the minimum. Cam Lewis could be the guy out if they feel good about Jordan Hancock stepping in right away and filling that backup Hybrid Safety/Nickel and Franklin taking his spot on Special Teams. Cutting him would also save 1.75m on the Cap.

As I said in the other thread though, even if Franklin is better than Lewis (and I know nothing at at all of Franklin so I have no view) Lewis was their best coverage teams player the entirety of last year. Losing one of your two best special teamers (it's Lewis and Gilliam) in order to bring in a better special teamer (if indeed Franklin is) might help, but it isn't going to help a ton if the aim here is strengthen special teams.

I was hoping Beane could pull out a miracle and work a trade for Samuel, but with his injury history, it makes sense.  He’d better be able to do something this year.  In the next two days we’ll start to see our PS get filled up.

I'm surprised Beane didn't pull off a trade moving some of our OL depth.

I dont think our OL depth is as valued as we think. They haven’t looked good in the preseason and looking good against our backup D in practice isn’t impressing anyone

He was a roster lock. Sal Capaccio reported that Kromer told him Hawes is the best blocking TE he's ever worked with. I'm expecting us to punish defenses in the run game, even moreso than last year.

Interesting. Do you expect him to win reps for that role over Knox?

No surprises here.

Grable really concerns me - he’s taking a loooong time to come back from a dome ringer and that’s concerning for the future. I like that the Bills are taking all the time he needs since he was projected to be the swing tackle and Van Demark looked meh at best.

Hawes was always a roster lock, he’s looked great since day 1 in his TE3 roll. He will take reps from Anderson and I think they are hoping he will develop enough to take Knox’s place

I still think Carter is barely on the roster. They are trying to play him out of position at 1-tech and he was pretty bad at even 3 tech

Great to see Shavers make the 53. He earned it, the entire team saw that, and Bean would look like a hypocrite if he cut him.

Until one of the rookies looks good enough to replace Ingram/Lewis, they are safe. Didn’t happen in camp, might not happen during the season.

I think you are spot on.

Hopefully Carter shows something and they can cut Ogunjobi.  Problem is he will probably be a healthy scratch. Hell they might even elevate Phillips from the PS on game day and sit Carter.

Solomon or Epenesa goes when Hoecht comes off suspension.  Assuming Bosa stays healthy.

Lundt or VanDemark go when Grable can play.  Who dresses on game day may give some clue who is low man on the roster.

Sorry to be an alarmist but CB is still a disaster.

We will need Ingram to step up.  I think he will.  The guy has length and can move reasonably well.

He has way more upside than Tre White at this point in their careers.  Unless Tre has a couple gears he was not showing against the Giants and through training camp, no reason he should be on the team at this point.

I have to think the Ravens have to be chomping at the bit w the thought of their WR’s going one on one against him.  Ugh that could really be ugly and embarrassing.

But the Bills love to bring back “their guys.”😳😳

The thing is, it is basically 56 guys right now. Who are the "2.5" guys out when Hoecht, Max and maybe Larry are back?

Probably Carter, Solomon, and Ingram/Strong.

But even more likely is one or more of those spots are open due to injury.

The only semi surprise was Ingram making the roster, but even that isn’t much of a surprise.

I’d say Ingram, Van Denmark, Solomon and Carter are the first players gone when the IR and suspended players return (depending on position).

Wait is Hairston on the 4 week IR??

Who is the "they" here though?  Is this just Sal's list?

I haven't seen an official depth chart from the team yet.

100% ....whoever is hinting at Cam being cut is going out on a major limb.

Cam is safe IMO, I think we are looking at a practice squad signing here anyhow.

The team hasn't released a depth chart, but Sal is employed by the Bills.

If he has Hancock listed before Hamlin I'm guessing the team likely doesn't have an issue with it.

Beane is talking now and they still won't say what White's issue is, he said tre is attacking his rehab.

I guess they are not going to say until they are obligated to after next wednesday's practice.

EDIT

He just added he is not ruled out for week 1 and it is not a season ending type of injury
