FireChans Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Bills being 5th is kinda bizarre tbh. Rousseau and Oliver are plus starters but not superstars. Is this based on rookies? 1 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago We must be in PFF's "Generate Clicks in the Offseason" cycle. They rank our DL as Top 5, and McDermott as a bottom half HC. Now, I have my own issues with McD, but cmon... They're just saying controversial crap to get clicks. 1 1 1 Quote
LEBills Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 5th is pretty high, did Brandon Beane call and complain to PFF again? 4 1 Quote
BigAl2526 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I'm skeptical. Buffalo is depending on rookies to make the D-line work. Those rookies (Jackson, Sanders and Walker) may work out and be terrific, but until we see them on the field in games we're not going to be sure that the Bills have elevated their defensive line to anywhere near that level. GunnerBill Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Thats a rank list. Texans #4??? They might have the worst pair of starting dtackles in football. They have great edge rushers, sure, but they are awful inside. Similarly the Lions... sure they have Hutch. The DTs are serviceable starters but nothing more at this stage and Davenport isn't even that. And the Bills have two proven good players and two question marks. Bad list. Quote
uticaclub Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago While there is debate about whether McDermott is a top-10 coach, no one could have watched that defense last year and claimed they were top-10 in any category, especially the defensive line. It was simply putrid. Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Wait until PFF releases their WR Corp rankings this week and Bills come in #1. Board meltdown. 1 Quote
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I have been saying it constantly for 7 years we have good players on defense. That’s why it’s so frustrating. It’s 100% the scheme. Wade Phillips would have had our defense top 3 and dominating teams in the playoffs. A good defensive coaching scheme we’d have a ring already. This IS the problem Quote
Pete Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I think that is a fair assessment. Bills are very deep at defensive line. Beanes whole offseason - FA and draft-Beane prioritized and added many. TJ Sanders looks very promising. Bosa, Walker, Hoecht, Landon Jackson, Ojungobi are nice additions. Nothing rattles a QB more than interior pressure. That’s what Philly did. That’s how Beane drafted Roseau signed a team friendly deal- and is a bargain. Greg is getting better all the time. IMO him and Oliver’s sack totals go up, due to other DL disrupting plays. Solomon could be a sack specialist. Daquan and AJ should be super motivated. on paper Bills D Line looks great. 🤞 Go Bills! 1 1 Quote

I agree with everything you said- but rather than saying it’s a fair assessment, I’d throw in a fair assessment based on projections. If Bosa stays healthy (BIG if) and the rookies can show they belong, I think we could be a top 5 DL. Rousseau, Ed, Sanders, Bosa Hoecht, Epenesa, Jackson, soloman Daquan, Ogunjobi, Walker. Not sure if there’s a defensive line in the NFL with that kind of depth. 1 Quote
corta765 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Not surprised. The Bills d-line is loaded with B to B+ level players after this offseason. The hope was they coulda got a guy like Garrett Crosby or Hendrickson and I really think their counting on Bosa to be that, but regardless they have a very solid group across the board. The real question is if it can finally be a difference maker in the post season when it matters. Quote

This IS the problem Bills had 12 players on the injury list going into last year's conference championship game .. 8 on defense Wade Phillips isnt making any miracles out of that lol Edited 54 minutes ago by Buffalo716 Quote
wppete Posted 23 minutes ago Posted 23 minutes ago I like our new and improved d-line but #5 is pretty crazy for an unproven group. Hope it turns out to be true though. Quote
Logic Posted 3 minutes ago Posted 3 minutes ago Like I said in the other PFF thread: PFF's analytics: Good. PFF's grades, rankings, lists, and other editorial/opinion pieces: Bad. They need to do a better job separating the two, because the credibility of the former unfortunately lends undue credence to the opinions spouted by the latter. Quote
