We are set at WR. Maybe we’ll grab one in Round 6.

Bates? Gone. Morse? Gone. We need a guard to pair with Torrens. Run the rock. Protect Josh.

McGovern moves to center, Edwards takes his spot at guard, they draft a guard or center in the later rounds to bring in.

This is my exact fear upon hearing about the Curtis Samuel signing.

The team has an aging/declining Stefon Diggs and several slot guys.

The Bills are not going to moneyball their way to a Lombardi.  The WR room is decent right now.  Why stop?  Lean into it and put this thing over-the-top.

After your 500 word essay, I submit five words: “Kansas City Chiefs. Super Bowl Champions”

The Bills, nor any other team in the league, are not the Chiefs.  It's painfully obvious.

There’s a legitimate argument to be made that Allen may be half through the meaty part of his career.

We don’t need a good receiver.  We don’t need a pretty good receiver.  We need Diggs’ replacement (at some point). We need a WR who is one of the guys that is going to set the market 5 years from now. We need a receiver that can wear the big boy pants. We need a legitimate top 10 WR because we have a legitimate top 3 (not saying he is third) QB in the sunshine of his career and it would be criminal after everything is said and done (and likely the last great Bills QB of my life) to say 8 sinful words: “If only they had gotten him more help.”

I’m wrong? Talk to Hasek.

I respectfully buy vehemently disagree. Two reasons.

The first reason is that when building a team, you look beyond the coming season. You look at the following season, as well.

In 2025, Diggs will be 32 years old, Samuel will be 29, and Shakir will be in a contract year. No one beyond those three is worth discussing (Shorter unproven, Hollins on one year deal, etc).

So the first reason the Bills need another receiver or two is because they need to set themselves up for the long term and start breaking in a stud who can take over as the alpha in the room for Diggs in the next year or two.

The second reason the Bills need another receiver is that Stefon Diggs plays Z, and Shakir and Samuel play the slot. The only X receivers we have on the roster right now are Hollins, Shorter, and Shavers, and I'm not counting on ANY of those guys being viable starting X receivers in 2024 and beyond.

So for both short term planning (the Bills need a starting X receiver) and long term planning (the Bills need young receiver talent in the pipeline), the Bills need to spend premium capital on a wide receiver THIS YEAR. It's not a want, it's a need.

Now...the signings of Samuel and Hollins make it so that it's not a SCREAMING need that you absolutely HAVE To spend a 1st round pick on. But me personally? I'm not waiting any later than the 2nd round. I'd prefer a 1st rounder and a 4th rounder, but I'd settle for a 2nd and a 5th, something like that. Make no mistake about it, the Bills need -- and I'm almost certain WILL be spending a high pick on -- a wide receiver.

I sure hope so, it would be so typically Billsey to hang Allen out to dry for yet another season with in imo, a mediocre WR room like they did this past season, hoping for the best,

I’m not sure you pay close attention to the outskirts of the roster.  We have KJ Hamilton who never really got a fair shot in Denver.

Sure, but we don’t need a 1st round IOL or S. The only exception to that is Cooper DeJean but I doubt he falls to 28

Don't be surprised with CB Quinyon Mithchell at 28.

The Bills are the closest thing to the Chiefs in the entire NFL and the salt from the losses is clouding your judgement.

They've barely squeaked past us the last two playoff matchups. If the Bills were in the NFC it would be a Bills v. Chiefs Superbowl 3 out of the last 4 years.

Diggs, Shakir, Hollins, Samuel, Shorter…even Kincaid (WR/TE). Nice WR room.

Face it…we need an interior O lineman or a safety.

Deal with it.

They will eventually need to replace Diggs as a #1.  I still hope Beane goes WR at #28.

With Diggs getting up there we need another young guy to take his place when the time comes plus Diggs can groom him on the game and this being a good year for WR's they shouldn't pass it up especially if a top 10 player is there ...

Beane has shown in the past (Allen, Edmunds) that he will trade up to get a player. I don't think he has enough to trade up into the teens but if one of these WR's fall that he wants I could see a possible trade up to the early #20's to try and get him.

Put down the bong and step away from the computer......

Hollins was signed for special teams and nothing more.  We really know very little about Shorter or Hamler at this point.  There are at least a dozen guys in this draft that have the potential to become a dominant downfield threat that the Bills don't currently have under contract.  They need to get one of those young guys on the roster.  Beane has done a good job of improving the WR talent pool to set up competition during the preseason.  He should not be done yet.  However it sorts out, the WR group will be better than last season.

If they didn't have three 6th round picks, I wouldn't want them wasting a 6th. But who knows, maybe a special teams guy.

The 6th round should be devoted to depth at long snapper. I think that is pretty obvious.
