I would have waited to make a decision.  They are still not very good at predicting lake effects. If it turns out ok Sunday it will be an embarrassment.

still going to be very windy which would ruin the game

Excuse me? They are pretty excellent actually. As long as you know where to get your info from.

No I'm not but overall I think the points stands: the KC game is uncomfortable. Sunday in Buffalo looks unwatchable at present

Forget unwatchable. Hundreds would have died attempting to get to the game.

The funny thing is the storm is supposed to go through Sunday, Sunday night, and even into Monday! How much and where remains to be seen.  I guess this is why they are talking about even going to Tuesday.

I still can't believe we didn't build a dome, downtown.

Though I did PREDICT we would not, Buffalo being Buffalo.

There is a pretty good idea of where and how much. And if anything these totals usually end up being lower than actual ones.

As a separate note, my life changed when I discovered there is such a thing as a 2 gallon ziplock bag 🥰🥰

it does not look like a duffle bag and the user not one who would carry a duffle bag.

This might have had some merit if it were the NFL's decision, but it was the governor who made it. The Missouri governor felt differently apparently, and there is also not a travel ban in KC AFAIK.

So as I understand it the governor was essentially forcing the hand of the NFL and team. It wasn't so much as the three of them working together as her decision and then just making the NFL agree. It caught people off guard with the bills. That is why a statement wasn't initially available because they were still trying to work through it when she just went rogue. She had enough.

Good for her.  She made the right call.

Yeah.  Similar snow and NE wind game wind.  It's NUTS in OP right now.

Ask him if he could 'accidentally' push the fence on the hill over with his plow.

Understandable.  Buffalo had how many people die in a blizzard last year?  47?

The NFL can hold a game, but if drivers are out on the streets and block them, and people are injured or die as a result, finger are gonna point at elected officials for not instating a driving ban, not at the NFL.  And if a driving ban is instated, elected officials can’t selectively enforce it and exempt team busses, fans, etc

Granny got arrested when she went to buy formula for her grandkids but police escort led the way for the team bus, not a good look for the Shield.

The Missouri governor had no reason to declare a state of emergency or impose a travel ban.  As you can see from the TV clips, it is very cold but the field and stands are clear, there has been a light dusting of snow but it didn’t rain as temps were dropping so it’s not particularly icy and roads have been treated as necessary.  KC is on the eastern edge of the Great Plains and these conditions are typical for winter on the plains, they occur regularly and are not considered an emergency.  People drive in this.  People who are driving in rural areas keep sleeping bags and emergency kit in their car if they’re smart.

Where was RGIII’s concern for 117 degree temps in the sun, asymmetrical for one of the teams?  That’s not safe for extreme exertion over 3 hrs.

Increasing confidence another multi-foot lake effect storm targeting the Buffalo Metro area happens between Tuesday night and Thursday night, FYI.

Longer term, looks like we get back into the upper 30s and low 40s starting week of the 23rd so it looks like just a bad week and a half or so.

That about sums it up.  It was like a switch flipped.

A dome downtown is probably going to cost a half a billion dollars more after all infrastructure costs

We have people complaining about how much money our stadium cost now.. throw an extra 500 million dollars and there will be more outrage

Let alone all the stadium studies showed the economic impact of a dome stadium versus a open-air is nothing

And a dome wouldn't have this game being played tomorrow either

The last sentence is the point.  The game didn’t get postponed for football reasons.  It was postponed for public safety reasons.  It’s a friggin frozen hurricane in OP right now.  We don’t play NFL football in hurricanes.  This storm should be seen no differently.

Just got back from the first snowblower pass.

A solid 8 inches of snow fell. But the winds! No chance of pointing the snow shoot in the direction of the wind. Solid 40 mph plus wind gusts out there. (As mentioned, I'm about 3 miles east of Highmark Stadium)

I’m not going to bother until tomorrow.  Too windy.  And more overnight.

Last year, when we lived in our duplex, I made it a point to snowblow just so our upstairs neighbors had clear access just in case. They had to go to Urgent Care right during the middle of the first storm. So doing it while it's snowing and blowing makes for an easy final pass once all is said and done.

Normally I would but the wind is absurd.  I was out and about I earlier and I’m going to get to work on it tomorrow.

Still snowing from dunkirk to Hamburg. Plenty of cars on the roads, they actually look really f'n good. 90 is as clean as you'd ever imagine it.

I was driving on the West Seneca orchard Park border at around 8:00

I have been watching the turnpike cams on 90. It's not too bad. The entire band went south of buffalo. Reached OP and Hamburg, but all the way to Dunkirk. Originally expected a few more miles north.

Snow band shifting north and then expected to remain relatively stable over metro Buffalo and nearby northtowns for much of the overnight and day tomorrow.  Not gonna be pretty

0%  it does not look like blizzard winds, just normal Buffalo area peak winter

Cold, high of 16, winds about 15 mph. Could be some snow showers/leftover lake bands but shouldn't be too terrible.  Advantage Bills for sure.

Trying to make the drive (or flight) in from St Louis. How are things looking out there? Consider me an amateur but at least somewhat capable for driving in bad conditions

Is that you Taylor? You do know the Chiefs aren’t coming for an entire week, right?

Ha St Louis has definitely become Chiefs country. Was at my 11 year old niece Taylor Swift themed birthday party last night and I made a bet with my 9 year old nephew. If the chiefs make it further than the Bills I'll give him $50 (he thinks this is hitting the lotto). If the Bills make it further he has to wear a Bills shirt to school the next day. He is in a panic

But in all seriousness I have a ticket and want to make the drive up there but not sure how things look amd don't know what forecast to trust. Should I do it? Can I do it?
