Potentially a significant development for us if he is done for the year.

There are no guaranteed wins for the Bills this year, but at home vs NE and @LA with no Herbert and playoffs on the line are about as close as you can get.

This hasn’t been talked about enough (especially with the win at KC). If Herbert is out, the Bills SHOULD beat LA and NE. With a win this week, they should be playing for the division in week 18. It’s possible, without a win this week, that the Bills are playing for the division in week 18. The Chargers game has felt like a potential trap to me all year. If there is no Herbert, it’s a game that you MUST win with the stakes as high as they’ll be.

There's 4 weeks left, how's he coming back at all if he's having surgery on his finger?

agree… just shut him down, they’re not making the postseason anyway.

I’m with @RiotAct. They’ll be out of the playoff picture if they aren’t already. Why would you bring back the QB, that you just paid a bazillion dollars to, for the last few meaningless weeks, with a broken finger on his throwing hand? What’s the best case scenario? If they string together a few losses, they increase their draft positioning as well. It makes ZERO sense to bring him back if the injury requires surgery.

Monday, ESPN reported Herbert is very likely to undergo surgery on his fractured right index finger. As for if he will be able to return this season, that will be determined by how the surgery goes. ESPN previously reported Herbert was unlikely to play on "Thursday Night Football" in Week 15 against the Las Vegas Raiders, and would meet with Dr. Steven Shin to determine extent of the injury and how long he might be out. Head coach Brandon Staley said Herbert will see two hand specialists, via NFL Media, and that "any plan moving forward will be determined after the Chargers gather all the information from specialists." Staley wouldn't comment on Herbert's Week 15 status.

Hopefully they lose Thursday night against the Raiders. If they do, Herbert will be shut down. That will be 9 losses and they'll pretty much be out of contention for a WC spot. After that they'll just be playing for draft position. Trying to play after surgery on a broken index finger on one's throwing hand just doesn't sound like a feasible, nor the right option.

A quick Google search says that it takes 1 to 2 weeks for just the stitches to come out. And 4-6 weeks healing time altogether.  No way he plays either way.

no he's a bust.  310 million for 1 playoff game, which he and his team absolutely choked away.

If he was a Dolphin, even with Brain Flores, he'd be the bane of our existence. That's the most infuriating part of the McDermott years: our division can only be so mismanaged before the law of averages makes them competent. We've wasted the Jets terrible drafting, Miami's front office tomfoolery, and Belichick's sunsetting.

I don’t think the law of averages applies to front office management lol. The way the dolphins and jets are structured they’re only gonna get worse

No chance (Flores!  lol).  He doesn't have it in him.  He's a choker--just like the guy before him.  Stat multiplier.

How Billsy would it be to lose to an Easton Stick… remember when we were eliminated by the dolphins Cleo Lemon in like 2006?

That would suck.  But reality is that Buffalo will be playing a tough hard hitting game into Sunday night,, and will fly to LA on a short week for a Sat night game.  Shouldn't matter too much but you know how the Bills love to botch strange travel weeks
