Police are investigating what happened. This is something no one should ever have to witness during what should be a good time. Very disturbing, no matter what triggered it.

Sometimes people get badly hurt during dumb fights. Childish disregard for the magnitude of consequences and the scale of variables beyond our control.

People don't seem to realize that one single punch to someone's head can be fatal. I saw it during a softball game at Cobbs Hill in Rochester. Two guys got into it, and one punch later, one of them was dead. That's why I've never punched anyone since then, it really freaked me out. That was like 20 years ago. I know a few other non-fatal ways to de-escalate a situation. Thankfully I'm past that point in my life.....I think. Not to mention, I'm surrounded by the greatest Bills fans in my section that I could ever hope for. Never an issue. And I'm 4 rows behind Jim Kelly and family. Yeah, that's right, I'm that f'n special, lol.

you know ive seen a lot of innocent 2nd parties to shenanigans, get thrown out of games.... hell, one year me and about 8 dudes went to a game together and got kicked out 90mins before kickoff.

was late december game, buddy went to take a leak, and as he was coming back up the stairs, my other buddy reflexively made a quick snow ball and tossed it underhand down "at" him. we were all in our mid 20s. there was hardly anyone even in their seats, and nobody around us

Erie county sheriff came down, threw both pitcher and catcher out without a 2nd thought.  the buddy plead his case "what would you like me to do here, i had a snowball from a friend thrown AT ME, which i caught?!?!"

Sheriff pointed at the whole row of us, said everybodies out, and ended up arresting the catcher for disorderly because he kept arguing. crazy right!

My point is, ive seen a bunch thrown out, and it always pisses me off.... but at the end of the day, sh*t like this killing happens a few times a year, diff sports/cities, and i kinda get it now.  Feel like you g2 toss anyone sticking outta the pack to keep this kinda crap from happening. A freakin 30yr season ticket fan?!?! how many of us know the bills fan version of that

Even (potentially) feel bad for the other guy. Mild punches right on 'the button' knock people out, and we live in a concrete world.  Alcohol certainly at play, wake up the next day to yours, your families, another families, and the poor sap you never meant to actually cause grave harm too, lives in a whirlwind. Ughhhhh

I'll be "get off my lawn guy" and say it: Alcohol ruins the fan experience for so many who just want to go and cheer and watch the game while a bunch of idiots get liquid courage and say and do stupid things that make it uncomfortable for so many people around them that have to endure the stupidity. It is not always like that, but unfortunately, it has been my experience more than not.

Staggering, vomiting, belligerent drunks can really ruin the game day experience.  Especially if you're introducing younger fans to the live-game experience.

Yeah the in stadium experience pretty much sucks these days.  NFL games are just an excuse to get completely hammered for 5-10  guys in every section of the lower bowl of every stadium every game .  and they wreck it for everyone else in the section.   they stand the entire game, hootin and hollerin trash and anyone under 6 feet tall can't watch the game and have to watch the idiocy for 3-4 hours.  it just sucks.  Personally, I don't care bc I'm 6'4", 225 and don't give a crap what anyone does, but just ruins it; I end up having to stand and then that's it for anyone behind me.   And it they are fans of the other team, fuggedabadit

Would you punch someone in front of you in line at the auto dealership?  If the answer is no, then don't do it at a football game either.  And, if the answer is yes, then don't do it at a football game and these problems don't exist.

I’ve been very lucky over the years, as I’ve never seen one fight and I’ve only seen two people wasted beyond belief.

One quietly passed out in his seat in Buffalo. Another was harmless, but waaaay too drunk - and that was in Cincy.  Both were quietly escorted away, with no issues.

The worst fan behavior I’ve seen was in Buffalo at a game vs. Denver (not too many years ago). During halftime, I saw a security guard politely and calmly ask a drunken Broncos fan to put out his cigarette.

The Broncos fan argued with him that it was BS, blah, blah, blah.  The security guard calmly explained the rules, told him to put it out and quietly walked away.

Then the Broncos fan called him a stupid N word, but of course it wasn’t loud enough for the guard to hear. Pus.sy.

I feel for any kid who had to see this happen.  Also the man who threw the punch will have to live with this for the rest of his life.

I never understood getting that upset at a GAME. I still have to go to work the next day if they win by a 100 or lose by 100. So no need get mad and start fighting.  I mean I’ve been to the meadowlands, I have seen the Pats play in Buffalo (years ago before Bledsoe lol)  and most were fine. Heck Bills fans told me my team won’t always suck lol.

Absolutely agree.  I take my kids to amerks and sabres game and they love it.

I took them to there first bills game last year and we had to leave by half time because of all the drunken idiots swearing and talking ***** to each other through the whole half (nothing they haven't heard before but to have it go on and on non-stop even made me uncomfortable).

What is it about us 53 year olds that we gotta fill our oats and get in the fights

In my younger days, I was at Gillette stadium with a season-ticket holder who had a beer dumped on his head and I tried to throw the guy onto the football field

It was stupid then and it’s stupid now

Speak for yourself. My fighting days are long over

Pretty accurate tbh.

Gave up my seasons a couple years ago for this reason. I get it. It's a reason to cut loose, have fun and such. Back when I was younger it seemed there were more people that would get drunker later on in the game. But first 3 quarters were fairly tame. Almost every game I went to the last few years I have seen people stagger in through the gate. My bet is the more the tailgating experience has grown combined with the absolutely ridiculous beer prices in the stadium more people focus on imbibing before the game.

Of course after kickoff no one settles in and watches the game anymore either.half the game is spent with people walking back and forth up and down the aisle to go on beer runs, bathroom breaks and such. The in person experience has moved for watching a football game to a party with a game in the background. Make sure to take those selfies too, gotta get the perfect shot for your Facebook.
