L1 - vs Blake Bortles Jaguars, he threw for under 100, Fournette ran 21 for 57, and McDermott's odd obsession with one of the worst QBs in history continued as he plugged Peterman in who threw a pick on only 3 passes.  10-3 loss.

L2 - Bills had the game solidly in hand at half time,  winning 16-0 in dominant fashion.  He then got insanely over the top conservative,  packed the offense in, played for FGs and the Bills squandered the game away getting outscored 19-3 in the second half before losing in OT.

L3 - We go up 9-0, McDermott again is too conservative on offense... down 21-9 we kicked a FG from the 2 yard line! Down 24-12 we kick a FG from the 8! Horrendous defensive strategy letting Kelce/Hill run free all game with zero adjustments made, so bad the commentators were calling the Bills out circling the screen all game saying well no one on Kelce again this is going to him you can't do this... Hill had 172 yards, Kelce had 13/118... the rest of the KC team had 35 yards... no adjustments made just plain vanilla, sit and watch get shredded as we kick two FGs from KC 2 and 8 squandering a 9-0 head start.

L4 - Historic coaching collapse in final 13 seconds wastes one of the greatest QB postseason in the history of the NFL.

In each and every one of these games the Bills had the lead and pissed the game away. The lead in every game.

Tyrod was hurt. He was concussed

Context matters. But yes getting the Chiefs or anyone else to come to Buffalo should be the goal next year. Can't have Jacksonville games next year.

Exactly. That Jags game blew up the whole season. As it should have.

That's right! He was forced out. Still the entire Peterman debacle for those 2 seasons was just bafflingly awful. I still can't believe we went into the season with him as the starter the following year.

He started 4 games, in those starts he completed 52% for 335 yards (84 yards per game), with 1 TD and 10 INT on 91 pass attempts (11% int rate).

Disagree about Houston. Allen threw three passes that should have been easy picks but were dropped. He did not play well and the Bills were lucky to get to OT.

If there’s a sliver lining, winning that game would have meant a trip to Kansas City the following week.  That Divisional Round game didn’t just knock the Texans out of the playoffs, it sent their entire franchise into a tailspin.

And Bates sat for most of the year. And Davis got limited snaps early in the year. Teller was traded.  PED Murphy played over Lawson.  Gilliam on the roster.  Sweeney as the only back-up TE.  Peterman is just the worst example.  The list is rather long of personnel moves that make no sense.

Sorry.  I can’t go there.  We should have closed the door.  We blew a 16-0 halftime lead (IIRC).  I get the Duke drop at the end of the first half, and the bogus call on the kickoff to start the second half, and that those things should have put it away. But the D should have bagged that thing.  And it didn’t.

Allen was not great but again the defense choked (sound familiar?) and Knox missed a block that Allen would have possibly scored on a QB sweep.

In the playoffs if you aren't playing at home that means you are the underdog because you are facing a higher seeded team.

Don't tell anybody, but the 2017 Jaguars were a better team than the 2017 Bills.  Also the 2019 Texans/Bills and 2020 Chiefs/Bills.  We lost those games to teams that were better than us.

This year was different of course, but still.

Statistically we despareatly need home field advantage and #1 seed. Each game in regular season matters indeed.

I understand the sentiment and agree that each game matters in regular season.  Home field would be great to have.  But eventually, they’re going to need to win on the road.

If they make the playoffs next season and have to play on the road I’d still be confident they would win.

McCarron was so bad they didnt really have a choice. Luckily they didnt let it linger past halftime week one

Home field in that game meant something -- the Texans weren't called for one penalty that wasn't pre-snap. And they held all game.

Home field matters in the playoffs and one of the biggest reasons that Mahomes has so much success so far in his career is that he's never played a road playoff game other than the 2 SB's which he has split so far.

If you look at the Patriots and Brady's success going back to their first run of SB's in the early 2000's, a majority of the time they were either a top 2 seed in the AFC and/or hosted the championship game in Foxboro.

This is why the message for 2022 must be clear, play consistent football over a 17 game season and position yourself to ensure you never have to leave Orchard Park in Jan/Feb 2023 unless it's for the SB.

So, how do we get a Super Bowl in Buffalo?

Build the dome! Build the dome!

You can argue the lesson to be learned from the 13 seconds is don't screw around during the regular season and if the No. 1 seed is available, GO GET IT.  You beat KC in Arrowhead by NEVER PLAYING THAT GAME!!!

The KC game would have likely been different in some way had it been played in Buffalo, and statistically, getting the first week BYE is HUGE in getting to the Super Bowl.

The "Yeah stats" crowd and "analytics suck" crowd won't understand it, but that doesn't change the reality of it.

For all the post season hype we had, this is an important one for a lot of reasons. We had too many games this year where things just didn't work out our way. 2020 was the opposite. A lot went right to make that season work.

Less concerned about winning those games to clinch homefield, and more concerned with minimizing those games so that 0:13 doesn't happen again.
