Blainorama5
Interesting stat but agree with Greg S - too early to really mean anything plus wins are what matters.

Steptide
I like that McDermott/daboll keep their foot on the gas even once the bills have a comfortable lead. I feel like in the drought years and even McDermotts first few years, they'd get a 10 point lead and start running the ball to kill clock. I like the aggression.

Don Otreply
Stats are nice, but it is less than 1/3 of this season, good for current bragging status, but unless we carry this throughout the entire season, and post season it doesn’t mean a lot. It does say we are doing a damn good job at present, Go Bills!!! Edited October 12, 2021 by Don Otreply 1

Bills D second best of all time after 5 weeks since 1983 via DVOA rankings: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvoa-ratings/2021/dvoa-week-5-bills-continue-ascent-greatness Maybe if we discuss like a Math Proof 1) Winning SB is the goal 2) A strong defensive performance increases a team' odds of winning games 3) Winning Games is essential to make the playoffs 4) You can't win the Super Bowl without making the playoffs 5) The more wins you get the better your odds of playing less playoff games (bye) and playing in front of crowds that will make it hard on the opponent. Therefore a strong defensive performance indicates you will likely win more which gives you a higher percentage chance of making the playoffs and perhaps getting a valuable bye / home-field advantage which increases your chance to make it to the Super Bowl .. and if you are in the Super Bowl you can win it, especially if you have a great defense. Thank you OP .. good information!

Unless the Bills suffer major injuries on every level, this defense will be hard pressed to not finish number one in both scoring and yardage. I'd say most likely losses would be Tampa Bay and possibly either NO or Carolina. But honestly, I could see them winning out too. They are that good and the offense has not played all that well, yet they are the highest scoring team in the NFL.
FilthyBeast
Biggest concern and question that needs to be asked....what if the Bills are peaking too early? Look no further than our friends who beat us week one and how they started 11-0 last year, obviously they didn't have these type of metrics backing them and it was pretty obvious a correction was coming considering how lucky they got and how many close games they played before starting to lose towards the end of the season. Will be very interesting to see if this holds up over a 16 game season and a few injuries could derail everything sadly. Until then it's safe to say the Bills are the best team in the NFL right now. Of course…I was at the game. But what happened to that team? I remember old Aaron Schatz used to appear on Schopp and the Bulldog and crow about how “historically good” the 2019 Patriots team was - especially the defense. By December they struggled to beat the Bills, lost to the Dolphins, and got smashed by Tennessee in the playoffs. So much for historically good

Indeed, you could say 8 out of 11 and 5 out of 11. The reason I say this is because the 2007 Colts are one of those that made the list, and they were in the same cohort as the 2007 Pats, which were ranked higher and made the SB. (And, beautifully, lost in epically painful fashion.)
