25 long years ago! I was 40! 😒 😁

WOOHOO!!!!!!! Just the way I envisioned us reaching out and TAKING what is ours. And that beautiful 51 yard run to cap it off by Devon Singleterry, AND the second game in a row with a defensive touchdown after not getting one in the last 47 games or so! Peaking at the right time! Josh Allen was awesome again today being responsible for four scores. The receiver package was unbelievable! I was one week off with my prediction of four score +7 last week LOL! 🀣 And a big hat tip to Jerry Hughes With a scoop and score! What a run! New nickname: Crazy Legs Hughes! I was there for the first four Super Bowl appearances, as were so many of you, and seriously, if we could stay healthy throughout the playoffs, We should fear no one!

Yeah.Β  I was 30, and a few years ago I was beginning to doubt whether I would live to see the Bills make the playoffs again, much less be contenders.Β  The current Bills' team was worth the wait and I think they're as good as some of the Bills' teams which made it to the Superbowl 30 years ago.

You know they had one last week.

Did you read the OP? Obviously they had one last week. BEFORE then was what was referenced.

Β

EDIT: Looked it up. We had a defensive TD in 2018, so I'm not sure where the 47 games number is coming from.

It was actually 45 games. So the OP was close.

Prior to last week, the Bills had gone 45 straight games without a defensive TD. It's true.

We had one in 2018, so I guess it must have been early in the season.

Those of you under 30, this is what 1988 felt like.

Β

When we won the division in 1995 we were all thinking the same thing.....ho hum....we better win it all this time.Β  Like the Patriots do every year.Β  In fact there was some dread like "not sure we're good enough."Β  I was 17 in 1995.Β

Β

TonightΒ I'm beyond excited and busted out the crown and ready to get loose no doubt.

Β

Β

But I'm most excited for an entire generation of fans under 30.Β  I'm thinking of all you tonight and what this feels like for you.Β  I'm thinking of the parents my age - especially the ex pats who have had a near impossible task of getting your kids to support this team the way we do during just a lost era especially the 2005 to 2013Β seasons.Β  I have 2 boys 15 and 11.Β  The 15 year old is definitely not like i was as a fan.Β  I mean his favorite player is Lamar.Β Β

Β

My 11 year old is loving this.Β  It's the sweet spot of entering fanhood.Β  I was 10 when I saw those goal posts come down.Β  I showed them those clips and what that was like.Β  That's what this game means today.Β

Β

What an awesome feeling this all is.Β Β

I was 12 and the Bills had gone to the Superbowl every year I watched. I remember wondering how Bengal fans could stand supporting such a bad team year after year (5 years in a row). I had no clue how good I had it. But now I do.

Β

We've been here before with high hopes that eventually got crushed. The fast starts followed by atrocious finishes. The Billsy losses that seemed to ruin out seasons singlehandedly, reminding us if the losers we were.

Β

After the Az hail mary I was devastated. But it was different from the NE losses or the Dallas MNF loss.Β

Β

One unlucky play did not destroy our season.

Β

Now we have JA. Even if we fail this year we will have a great opportunity next year. And the year after that. And after that.

Β

It's a feeling that only last year seemed incomprehensible.Β

As I looked at the Broncos message board earlier I thought to myself "I know they are a slim chance at the playoffs but what's going on in here?"Β

Β

50 some of pages later, the Bills were AFC East Champs. I know it's hard to be fan of a bad team but I also know how long a bunch of us have been around here waiting for this day to come.Β

Β

50ish pages is really my point. How long have we sat waiting every game day for the threads to start and then the game time threads and those would get to 30-40.

Β

We will never be "fair weather fans".Β  We are the hardened sons of ***** that have sat through the agony, heartbreak and defeat that have made us who we are.Β

Β

Happy to be on this journey with you all.Β

Great feeling for all of us. I see alot of old-timers here. Myself included. I was 34 last we captured the division.

Β

The one big difference ... 25 years ago, we were on (what we didn't realize) was a down-slope. Now, We're on a big rise! Daboll's offense is red hot! Jazzed for the next couple of games and can't wait to see who's the playoff foe! We're peaking and can take on anyone now!!

My daughter was born on the day the Bills clinched the AFCE in 1995.Β  My wife is still upset that I went home to go watch the game.Β

Β

And why not?Β  She was asleep after giving birth, and our daughter didn't care.Β

Β

Nothing so dramatic this time.

I wasΒ 32 and hadΒ only being dating my future wife for about 7 months. We've been married for 23 years now and our 18 and 20 year old sons just got to experience the first AFC East title ofΒ their young lives. The four of us were all watching together. I spent all day leading up to the game thinking about my mom and dad. Mom passed in 2008 and dad in November of 2019. So many other Bills fans who are no longer with us to share in the joy. Soak it all in and cherish the memories fellow Bills fans.Β

I think we all realized in 1995 that the team was slipping down.Β  We had lost a lot of key players from the SB teams, and the new guys weren't working out as well.Β  Key: a lot of the leaders on the team had left as FAs, or retired, and there wasn't as much cohesiveness or determination any more.Β  I think 1995 was the end of the era.Β  When we got back, in 1999, we had a great defense but the QB drama had started.Β  It's been a long time since we finally got that fixed.

I'll add a shoutout to Bob Dylan who wrote it.

Β

I don't have kids of my own but asked my nephews and nieces how they felt.Β  They don't know how to act.Β  Sorry that your parents are not around to celebrate.

My Dad is gone but my Mom is 88 and still a loyalΒ fan.Β  She keeps saying to hurry up cuz she ain't getting any younger.

Β

As to the bolded, I been saying all year long that "These are the good ole days".Β  Loved Carly Simon as a kid and take her lyrics to heart!

Β

Enjoy the win my friend!

I was 42.Β  As much as I loved the Bills of the 4 Super Bowls...this is my favorite Bills team.Β  Β I remember my Dad evaluating all the QBs after those years.Β  He would say, "He doesn't have it."Β  I don't think he would have said that about Josh Allen.Β  He would have loved him!
