Housch$$ released

So true. That was such a horrible cheap shot. So uncalled for. Basically ended his career.

Even in a football era where Tom Brady and Julian Edelman exist, Henry Anderson might low-key be my least favorite NFL player ever. Such a dirty player and he seems to get away with most of it. Need our o-line to play with an edge and keep him away from Josh.

Taking a risk here. How many times have we seen highly touted and picked kickers absolutely ***** the bed early in their careers?

Then again they could prob find a decent kicker on the open market if that happens.

Sometimes teams have to take risks in order to improve.

Like you said, we can probably find a decent kicker on the open market.  Most likely not much worse Hausch, maybe even better.  Gambling Bass’ upside is a no brainer considering Hausch is JAG at this point

Eh.

Haush was pretty money from 45-48 and under. Obviously once getting into the 50s he didn't always have the leg.

I think weve been spoiled with him the past few years. It can get pretty ugly with kickers.... we win games last year mainly because the opposing kickers were awful.(Jets Week 1, Titans week 5)

Eh......lol

i said what you said.

Insufferable

The only question to ask now...how many comp picks will we get?

The league has determined that in connection with the release of Buffalo Bills kicker Stephen Hauschka, the New England Patriots will be awarded a fifth round compensatory pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Just go for his knees on every block. It isn't against the rules in most situations.

Bass needs to work on becoming a little more consistent, but the Bills had to go with him because of his big leg.  A few decades ago, Buffalo drafted a promising place kicker.  He had a terrible training camp and the Bills got rid of him.  Gary Anderson went on to have a Hall of Fame career.  I'm glad the Bills took a chance on the kid.

Great post. The same thing happened 2 years ago with the Panthers. Drafted Butker. They put him on the practice squad where he was immediately poached by Kansas who had wanted to draft him. Now Butker who was considered to have lost the camp battle with Gano, is the highest points scorer in the league in 2019. Gano was cut this off-season having struggled to stay fit since they reupped him . At the time fans spoke with great wisdom about how Gano looked better, how he was a known quantity. Fans don't know squat. Panthers couldn't bring themselves to let him go even though the cap saving made more sense. It's looking a bad decision now.

Bass will likely miss kicks this year. But if he can be the future for 10-15 years it will be worth it.

Well this is equivalent to the 3rd preseason game so I’m glad they made the call and gave Hauschka the chance to latch on elsewhere.

Now please Bass, don’t be erratic. I don’t want to be excited for a 55 yarder again only to worry about a 40 yarder every week.

Hopefully it's all moot and Bass takes command and/or the Bills offense is scoring at will and it doesn't matter.

Ha, figures you'd be against this move.  I didn't feel spoiled against the Browns last year, and if Hausch still had a decent leg we'd have been able to try a 54-yarder in a dome vs. Houston in the playoffs.

He was an excellent kicker for the Bills and has had a great career, but in Buffalo you need a strong leg and the writing was on the wall.  The fact that Bass was nearly 80% in college should ease people's minds.  He's gonna be very good.
