2020 Bills Unrestricted Free Agents

Kinda to early, but looking forward this offseason to see how the Bills approach free agency. I think it will be much like this year , mid to lower tier guys, not big contracts to anyone.

the real interesting piece will see how they approach Tre , Dion and the safeties.

Lawson admitting he played under motivation for a contract a tad worrisome. I admit when we drafted him I was a big fan but he hasn't lived up to said hype. If he's looking for top level salary I let him walk and draft his replacement who hopefully replaces Hughes when his contact ends. I think it be wise to also add a vet to replace LorAx who can also contribute to the pass rush.

My top 4 are Spain, Phillips, Lawson, and Waddle. No specific order, though I think Spain has been our most consistent lineman this year... not a world beater, but a solid top 20 G.

Spain allowed zero sacks and played every game. He’s priority #1 for me. The others mean necessary replacements if not re-signed.

In this regard, ‘the Devil you know’..

I think they re-sign Spain, Coleman, Marlowe, and Kevin Johnson. Maybe Stanford unless they draft better backup LBs.

I think they will make a good effort to re-sign Phillips, but he will cost too much.

edit: I don’t think they even talk to Shaq. He’s gone.

Quinton Spain is not getting enough love here, and that is VERY disturbing!!! We NEED him back.

I believe this as well because imo the most important thing is OL, then add weapons. Keep this OL together and maybe add a OT in the draft.

I personally would sign Shaq if I could only have one of him or Phillips. Prefer both obviously.

I would absolutely pay Quinton Spain

I would Lump Kevin Johnson with Shaq. Agree with everything else.

Yes, and move Ford to Guard. Let the guy maul.

This is a serious question.

Tell me about Waddle.  All I know is that he was out all season.  What do you like about him?  Tackle depth or is there more?

I cannot remember a time where our offensive line was the same from the previous season in full. We must retain that consistency and build on it, not play Mastermind with it. That was my logic in retaining Spain, who did perform well!

Spain and Phillips.

I simply don’t trust Lawson or the ? he’s going to want/ get.

Im interested to see who they pick in FA on the defensive side. I wouldn’t be surprised to see us again address the interior of the line in the quest to shore up the Run D. This also could be a big run stopping LB.

Spain should be re-signed... Only wrench thrown in that mix is what to do with Cody Ford.

He was eh at RT, projected as a very good guard prospect.   Rookie OL usually make a big jump in their second year.  Does Ford make that jump at RT?   I’d almost feel more comfortable with a combination of two vets in Nsehke/Waddle out there.   However, where does Ford play?  He’s not as good, yet, as Spain or Feliciano, and Long provides G/C flex as depth.

I’d want Spain back, the issue is that if everyone feels like Ford is a guard...then one of these guard spots needs to be open. If I know anything about McDermott, he’s going to play the guys he drafted. That’s just what’s going to happen. So if Ford is going to play, then I want him to play the position he’s best at. That probably means : no Spain unfortunately

I think Waddle is a decent depth guy and he did start his first few years when our online coach was in Detroit. To me he's a low cost guy who could likely contribute but wouldn't count on him to start.

Get a mauling back to go behind a mauling line and set up a young QB who is still is growing. Would like to see fewer QB sneaks while using the threat of one to set up other plays.

He’s just a swing tackle who can play either side in a pinch. I think he’s valuable depth for us, but my real liking for him is that he seems to have really bought into the culture and bills mafia. His vet presence on the line is valuable, but I don’t think it’s a huge issue if we lose him.

I'm in the opposite opinion when it comes to RB. I think we need to add some speed at the position as to me Motor is a mauler.

There are zero must-sign players on that list.

I’d like to have Spain back, but not at premium guard money since you could move Ford to LG, where he played at Oklahoma for 2 full seasons.

Shaq and Jordan are going to get PAID. I’m actually more concerned about LB depth than anything else, and I’d like to get KJ back at a $6M-$7M per year gap deal if he’d take it.

Assuming Yeldon and Gore are both gone, which I expect, I agree with you. The speed guy needs to have good to great hands. Plus, I still want a mauler.

I don’t know that they need any archetype specifically, but a one-cut/downhill guy that can run stretch plays and set Allen up for PA would be great.

Moving Ford to G is the simplest and most obvious move. Barring the Ty Nys injury, I think they could have been leaning that way

His feet are just too heavy to hold up consistently at RT IMO

I'd resign Spain and Kevin Johnson. I think Phillips will get more money than he is worth. I'd resign Lawson if we can get him to sign a reasonable deal. The rest are replaceable, so sign them if you don't think you can get more value in free agency.

Do not bring back Gore.

Yeldon is under contract so I can't see us tossing him aside unless we get someone better.

Maybe we'll use him next year...

I mean, white will get the 5th year option when that rolls around, right? A couple of those players are at least a year away.

only one I want to have back 100% is Spain   No way I'm investing heavy into Shaq Lawson or Jordan Phillips  .  Only the Bills believed in Phillips so maybe he stays on a reasonable contract  I worry we'll overpay to keep "process" guys  I want DiMarco, Gore, Foster, Kroft. gone asap.

DiMarco and Kroft aren't due to be signed.
