Add another notch on Josh Allen's belt!

I was looking for this thread!  Another 4th quarter game winning drive.  This kid is clutch.  Big difference between Josh and Tyrod, who couldn't seem to bring the team back in the 4th quarter.

Also, didn't see this discussed anywhere, but John Brown got to 1000 yards last night.  Kinda overlooked with the big win and all.  He has been a great pick up for us.

The problem with saying the Bills would have beat the Pats if Allen had finished is that by that standard, the Jets would have beat the Bills if Mosely hadn't got hurt. Idk if Allen would have been able to pull off the win or not

Exactly. If. If. If.....

This is all well and good, but the problem with Josh is his stats are terrible. You need great stats to be a great quarterback, except when those stats include wins and losses, then those stats don't matter because the other stats are more important.

Try to keep up, people.

Only 2 completions in the 4th quarter yesterday, but one was the 40 yarder to John Brown and the other was a TD pass on 3rd and 9.

Pretty huge.

Would love to see our HC & OC stop being so damn conservative, though. 2 3 & outs after that TD when a couple 1st downs coulda ended it... ridiculous we don't even make a real effort to get those 1st downs.

Since we are all but locked into the 5th seed I would love to see them just let Allen rip it for 40+ attempts per game in these final two games.

I realize Josh came up short the other day.  I'm still disappointed from it.  And a big part of that loss Josh took on his own shoulders with his fumble in the 4th that led to Texans points.

I stumbled upon this and thought it was kind of an amazing stat for him on the year.

It's too bad his lone turnover in the 4th on the year came in that situation in a playoff game.

Oh well, if we're disappointed, I'm sure Josh is 200 times more disappointed and he wants to get back to the season already.

Probably workin on his game already

His biggest problem isnt his fumbling. His main problems are in the fundamentals of the QB position. If he gets those down he good be a very good QB.

but.....

First two years as a starter in Buffalo
Josh Allen    5,163 pass yds 30 Pass TD 21 INT
Tyrod Taylor 6,058 pass yds 37 Pass TD 12 INT

Allen    1,141 rush yds 17 rush TD 22 Fumbles
Taylor  1,148 rush yds 10 rush TD 13 Fumbles

Taylor played one more game than Allen.

Are you just trying to play Devil's Advocate or are you presenting this as a legitimate argument?

Tyrod was a vet. Allen was a rookie.

Not to bag on Tyrod. To be honest, he's probably a top 6 QB in franchise history.

I have been wondering why Allen hasn't been getting attention for this. I never hear it mentioned by radio or TV guys.

Allen is great in the clutch.

Everyone will know soon enough.

He'll have many more ahead. Jim Kelly is a HOF qb. Jim never threw for 4000 yards ever in his career. If JA plays 16 games averaging 250 yards / gm =4000.

300 yard games are NOT necessary.

The comparison between their respective first two years in Buffalo needs a bit of context.

Taylor was entering his fifth year in the league when got here. Allen was a 22 year old green horn brand new to the league.

Taylor was a 5 star recruit at Virginia Tech after an outstanding high school career and was named ACC player of the year after leading VT to an 11-2 record as a senior. He started 42 college games in a major conference. Allen wasn’t recruited at all out of high school, went the JUCO route to get to a D-1 school and ended up at Wyoming in a conference that doesn’t compare to the ACC.

Taylor was a polished QB after four years at a major college and another four learning the NFL game with the Ravens. Allen, by contrast, was as rough as they come with no previous exposure to big time programs.

Given the disparity in their respective experience when their first two years with the Bills commenced, either Taylor was a very poor QB or Allen was actually not that bad.

This is all well and good. Great comebacks vs the Jets, Dolphins, and Titans (2-4).

But against good teams later in the year the comebacks dried up. He had a chance vs Clevelend, NE twice, Baltimore, and of course the Texans.  Zippo.

2 things.

  1. Need to do better earlier in the game so late game heroics are NOT needed.
  2. Need to do better in comeback situations vs better teams in the big games.

Even the great comeback guys only do it 60% of the time or so.

Matt Stafford has a lot of comebacks too.

Hopefully a more talented O can help fix these things.
