In fact, isn't the real story that NBC is reporting an unsubstiated rumor about their political enemy, using the unsubstantiated rumor of another media source, declaring it as fact in a headline, but weasle-wording it at the end for plausible deniability? 

 

This type of story about a school budget battle wouldn't pass muster in a local Pennysaver story in Des Moines, would it? You talk about rabbit holes while you're basically posting a National Enquirer story?

Serious question: Do you find it at all possible that there are thousands of career bureaucrats that find Trump unacceptable for the primary reason that he threatens their position of wealth and power and as a result they would do anything they can to defend the status quo?

Sure, their are probably a lot of folks that work in the government that don't like Trump.  The 'do anything to defend status quo', though would describe far, far fewer.  Consider that some of these folks have basically trashed their careers in order to speak up.  Also, in this environment, some are risking the safety of themselves and their families.  All of these people can't be making up BS stories, risking their lives, families, and livelihoods. 

 

Let me ask you a serious question.  Is it possible that Trump has done misdeeds and those misdeeds prompted some principled career bureaucrats to take the above mentioned risks?   I hope you would agree that if they honestly thought they were witnessing misdeeds, that they should speak up.

I honestly don’t think that’s possible and I’m saying that based on the actual evidence we’ve seen. The Mueller report and the transcript of the Ukraine call reveal nothing illegal or “misdeeds” as you say. The only thing it reveals is a concerted effort on the part of the government establishment to undo an election. 
 

I also don’t see how anyone has been threatened or are ruining any careers. These all appear to be carefully coordinated plans to take this president down.  The key actors potentially landing jobs at universities, in the media, or some think tank.
