Dave Chappelle Sticks and Stones

Anyone else catch this on Netflix?  IMO, absolutely hysterical and not politically correct at all, at all.  Dave is basically saying he doesn't give a bleep and throws down the gauntlet to the overly pc crowd.  Dave is my favorite comedian of all-time and everything he puts out is worth watching.  I suggest to everyone that likes great comedy to watch this.  Please ignore any bias articles telling you to skip it.  IMO those people just don't want to have to defend their point of view and Dave questions them hard.  It is easier to demonize Dave and tell people not to watch then to actually have to defend why you believe what you believe in.

No doubt he's very funny but just hope he has his mind sh*t together now and does not just disappear again.

His ***** was together.  He simply felt he had enough money and didn't want to be a puppet for Viacom.  He turned down that $50 million from Viacom and ended up getting a 3 special $60 million dollar deal from Netflix.  He'll make more on his next deal.  All that and he was able to not have any obligations to some giant conglomerate and keep his artistic integrity.  He "disappeared" because he didn't want to answer questions from talentless media hacks and to do some self discovery.  So how crazy was he really?

He explained all of this in his interview with Howard Stern.  Seems like the guy has a lot of integrity and pride in his craft.  I respect that.

Edit: His Baboon analogy.

OK, hindsight is 20/20 BUT, at the time he was showing all the marks of being not right.

It seems this new special is all about 'shock' value, he just takes the negative opinion on a bunch of things and uses that to try and get people riled up

It’s Chapelle though.    He has the power to say what others cannot because they are scared hacks.

It also helps that he isn't white, Netflix would never be able to put out a special where a white guy tells the audience he doesn't believe the people who claim to be molested by MJ actually were.....

I love the guy and will check out that special, so thanks for mentioning it.

But there are millions of working class Republicans on this board--you know, the Trump voters--who must absolutely despise Dave Chapelle.

Don't expect to see them in this thread, other than to take shots at him.

Wrong again. Somehow we have a hurricane thread and a Dave Chappelle thread, which a few boneheads managed to bring the president into. TDS must be a real affliction I suppose.

What does Republican-Democrat have to do with it?

I laughed my ass off, as ever.

It’s not his job to be PC and he doesn’t even have to believe what he says... it just has to be funny. People take offense? Eff ‘em.

I think that’s why Dave chose to wear a military flight-suit. He’s going to war against everybody that has a preconceived notion of what comedy is and should be in this era.

Actually, I would think this special might make him a huge favorite to them and piss off the other side because of his comments on things. The stuff he says in the special seem to be more about saying what Conservatives want to or do say and get in trouble for

Isn’t it the left that’s been attacking people the past 20 years for using the wrong word, claiming ‘hate speech’ or some such nonsense?   ?

The working class Republicans are the most likely to like this standup. Without a doubt. Google the special. Liberal rags are trying to cancel him.

Edit: Nevermind. I see you didn't watch yet. Have fun being triggered.

He's not saying what conservatives want, so much as using logic and common sense. It's amazing how much that's been lost recently in place of #feelings.

I'm not a guy who would vote for Trump but the reaction this Chappelle special is a perfect example of why people voted for him.  A good piece of advice for the Dems/Libs if they want to win in 2020, stop having rich white celebrities and white privileged college kids, telling the white working class why they are everything that is wrong with America.  I honestly think it is fine for black Americans to call out white privilege, although I think the term hurts their cause.  But rich white people constantly shitting on less fortunate whites is a big reason why we have Trump.

It was also 11 or 12 years ago. He’s been around since then.

I saw it Saturday night and loved it. He’s probably going to (or already has) offend some groups with it but I think in this day in age some people need to be offended.

If you love stand up and aren’t a wuss check it out.

Yup one of the GOATs for sure, one of the few standup guys I'll watch whatever he puts out

From what I understand Hollywood/showbiz tried to disappear him, it wasn't exactly of his own volition.

Dave is on his way to becoming the Lenny Bruce/George Carlin of this generation. It was a brilliant performance.

He’s the best right now.  Maybe best ever at the end of the day?  I saw him in Rochester in 2003 (I believe).  We had front row seats.  Chappelle was doing a mix of his current (at that time) act mixed in with a few new tid bits.  He was killin it.

About 30 minutes into the show, this jerk pushed his way past security and walked right down the aisle and sat on the aisle stairs about 6 rows up.  The man disrupted the show with his actions, but also continued to try to disrupt the show by making comments to Chappelle.

What ensued with the dialogue between Dave and this ahole, off the cuff, was perhaps the funniest part of the show.  It took about 5 minutes before an “escort squad” was assembled to remove this dude.  But DC totally humiated the guy.  It was priceless.

I guess a plastic straw man would make these people gleefully get more outraged and pile up higher stack of self-righteous poker chips?

Correction. At the time, the media portrayed him as not being right.Trust me, I was buying it hook line and sinker just like everyone else. But once he finally came out with his side of the story, he actually seemed quite reasonable. Not the path I would have necessarily taken, but it was definitely a sane, thought out, calculated decision.

I'm a Republican, and I LOVE the fact the Chappelle has pissed off the left!

15 years ago, you could watch a comedy show, and whether you agreed with the point or not, go, "haha, that's pretty funny!" irregardless.

I love the fact that he doesn't care who he offends. It's a show. It's comedy. It's supposed to be offensive. That's the damn point.

Fundamental misunderstandings of the political landscape in the US are fundamental, apparently.

Are you surprised? How many of the top critic movies loved by audiences? And most thing loved by audiences are hated by critics.....

(not saying either ratings right)

Most times the critics try to seem smarter and more Intellegent by picking boring and crappy things because it makes them feel smarter to act like your just not smart enough to get it. Meanwhile most of the general public that actually vote or rate things on websites are people who vote for reality tv shows and enjoy keeping up with the Kardashians........
