Well let’s try this Steeler thing again.

Might be an option if they strike out elsewhere.  You'd be taking on a one-year deal worth $4.9M against the cap, but he's 31 years old and coming off of 3 injury-riddled seasons.  He's played in 25 of the team's last 48 games.

Line wasn't good and you just got burned by that franchise. I wouldn't have anything to do with them other than shipping mice with the plague to the fo.

How did Steelers burn us?  They agreed with a compensation package for a WR, that WR killed the trade.  So how did the Steelers burn us?

I suppose they didn't,  but it was their part of the trade that blew it up in a bad way. Granted he has been doing a lot of that. I just wouldn't want anything to do with them at this point.

It doesn't take much to go to AB and know where he's willing to go and not. And not doing what he did with Buffalo. It's on AB but they bear some responsibility. I'm also just a fan. I have the luxury of that.

Doesn't Buffalo bear some responsibility as well.  I am sure they have seen and heard everything AB has done this last month.  Shouldn't the FIRST statement made to Steelers be can we talk to AB and Drew and see if there is interest, then come back and talk compensation.

I've seen speculation that AB killed the trade. Nothing definitive tho. Beane said the deal just made little sense for both teams. Has it been reported that AB absolutely squashed it, or is this you just doing the math?

Yes it has all over the place here is just one

That trade was all but done until Buffalo heard Antonio was going to have an issue coming to Buffalo

I don’t hold the Steelers responsible one bit. I’m certain they are absolutely furious at Brown. Steelers fans hate the guy. Before all his antics he would have fetched a minimum of a first rounder in trade. Now they can’t give him away. I’m sure the Steelers wanted to get the Brown headache to Buffalo very very badly.

Yeah, I've read them all. Reporters basically saying "I've been told" AB wouldn't go there. Just wondered if there was any report from AB/ his agent to verify. I actually read that the deal died Wednesday and that this was old news stirred up by Rap

Looks like he's a goner either way:

Well when a trade report is on you at this point in the offseason it means 1 of  3 things

1.  They want you to take a paycut

2.  You will be traded

3. You will be cut if not traded normally the same day the report you are being shopped happens

Sure maybe AB reporting the trade talk as fake news?

Surely we can find something in the Carolina ‘discount / previously enjoyed’ bin?!

(ducks, runs out of thread in fear for my life...)

Daryl Williams currently resides in that bin. I’d go shopping there.

He don't dictate where he goes. He either takes his trade or retires. Not saying his unwillingness didn't equate to Beane's decision that the deal didn't make sense for them, just wondered if there's a report from his agent that verified that. Reporting fake news does not = I told them hell no

He just did dictate he wasn't going to the place WRs go to die

Nah I have always hated the Steelers line in Recent Years.  Ben gets Killed behind it

this couldn't be more false.... ben has been sacked a grand total of 45 times over the last 2 seasons. 27 other qb's were sacked more than him in 17 and 25 other qb's were sacked more than him this last year. not to mention they have basically plugged any back they want into the lineup and gotten production.

I live in "stiller" country. I can assure you all their fans agree it is one of their strongest assets. its the main reason his career has been prolonged after the absolute beating he took early on in his career.... your statement is horribly off base.

Sorry, man, it happens.  The Steelers were paying AB a crap ton of money and that didn’t stop him from bailing on the last game of the season with playoffs on the line.  It didn’t stop him from trashing his QB either.  No team wants to give up substantial draft capital and invest big time money into a player unless they can expect effort and reasonably good behavior.

IMO the Bills did the right thing bailing on the deal upon hearing AB didn’t want to come here.  But they did the wrong thing by even investigating bringing a spoiled brat like him onto this team.  Other than being a phenomenal player in the field (when he chooses to actually play) he’s exactly the opposite of what this regime has said they were about.

their running game does well behind it (Bell, Connor).   Ben holds onto the ball too long.

Or does their Run game do so well behind them because people are scared of what they have on the outside?

Fortunately, we don't have to speculate on this, since NextGenStats keeps track of everything you two are discussing.

First, no, Ben does not hold the ball long:

^ Tied for the fastest average snap-to-release time in football last year

Second, no, teams aren't backing away from the run against Pittsburgh, as James Conner faced 8+ in the box on almost 28% of his carries, which ranked 11th out of all qualifying backs in 2018:
