white as in philosophy of life, not skin colour, right?

I mean skin color. White men are the largest voting demographic in the nation. I cannot understand why democrats go out of their way to drive the largest voting demographic away.

31%.

But here's the thing, there's another 35%, give or take, who are married to white men, or have white men as sons.

The attempt to legislatively marginalize white men, and to "Kavanaugh" them is a direct attack on these women's families.

Peggy Noonan nails what I've been saying in a few threads:

Republicans need to save capitalism

Quote

The American establishment had to come to look very, very bad. Two long unwon wars destroyed the GOP’s reputation for sobriety in foreign affairs, and the 2008 crash cratered its reputation for economic probity. Both disasters gave those inclined to turn from the status quo inspiration and arguments. Culturally, 2008 was especially resonant: The government bailed out its buddies and threw no one in jail, and the capitalists failed to defend the system that made them rich. They dummied up, hunkered down and waited for it to pass.

...

Conservatives regularly attend symposia to discuss the future of conservatism. Republicans in Washington stumble around trying to figure what to stand for beyond capitalizing on whatever zany thing some socialist said today.

But isn’t their historical purpose clear? Their job—now and in the coming decade—is, in a supple, clever and concerted way, to save the free-market system from those who would dismantle it. It is to preserve and defend the capitalism that made America a great thing in the world and that, for all its flaws and inequities, created and spread stupendous wealth. The natural job of conservatives is to conserve, in this case that great system.

Her view and mine don't align throughout the entire piece but she's right. The Rs about to be wiped off the map and they need to do some deep soul searching about their messaging or find themselves forever in a minority.

‘Here it comes’ again! Guess what Jonathan Gruber says Dem 2020 candidates need to be more ‘vague’ about

Jonathan Gruber is back. What's the pride of MIT have to say?

You can't make this stuff up.

Q: "Does 'Medicare for All' help a Democrat run against Donald Trump in 2020 or does it hurt...?"

A: "It helps if they're vague" -Jonathan Gruber 2/14/2019https://youtu.be/_TnIh6e-ClQ?t=618

As a fan of REM I know their politics slant well to the Left.

Which is further proof of Trump's prowess as a troll.  i'm starting to wonder if that thing on his head is some kind of D&D trinket that gives a boost to his troll ability

Eh, the context of his quote isn't nearly as bad as they're trying to portray in the headline:

Quote

“The America I see values basic human decency, not snatching children from their parents or turning our back on refugees at our border. Americans know that’s not right,” the former vice president and potential 2020 Democratic presidential candidate told the Munich Security Conference. “The American people understand plainly that this makes us an embarrassment. The American people know, overwhelmingly, that it is not right. That it is not who we are.”

Of course, he forgets to mention how Obama did the same things.

THE FEELING IS MUTUAL, JOE

I don’t think we have commented on Joe Biden’s disgraceful performance at the Munich Security Conference yesterday. I haven’t seen a full transcript of his remarks, but he delivered a partisan stump speech to an audience of European leaders. It consisted largely of an attack on the President of the United States. I’m so old, I can remember when that was considered bad form.

Speaking on German soil 75 years after the U.S. and its allies prepared for D-Day, Joe Biden described America as “an embarrassment” and its trade policies “self-defeating.”

“The America I see values basic human decency, not snatching children from their parents or turning our back on refugees at our border. Americans know that’s not right,” the former vice president and potential 2020 Democratic presidential candidate told the Munich Security Conference.

Well, Joe, at least they aren’t putting them in cages like they did when you were the Vice President.

“The American people understand plainly that this makes us an embarrassment. The American people know, overwhelmingly, that it is not right. That it is not who we are.”

That’s a terrible thing to say about your country. But the feeling is mutual, Joe: the country thinks you are an embarrassment, too.

Of course, the European elites lap this sort of thing up. But a former Vice President should be above pandering to their anti-American prejudices. Even if he is Joe Biden.
