This team is on the same trajectory as the Sabres, using the same logic that they used about cleaning house and rebuilding. See how that worked out for them?

Really, so using 1st round picks on Reinhart and Lehner is the same as the players Beane has drafted? And Murray didn't blow up the salary cap, he filled it with underperforming players. The proper comparison to Murray is Whaley. I'm not a huge Sabres fan but even I understand that.

It's week one for a young team with a lot of new starters. I wouldn't read too much into it. And if we continue to suck as bad as we did today we'll go into the offseason with great draft picks, a ton of cap space, and all the new guys will have a year under their belts.

If we suck before we get better that's fine. Of course, if we suck before we suck some more that's not so good. Might as well trust the process and hope for the best.

Sure, maybe if they suck long enough then they'll win a Super Bowl. Like flipping the odometer. It worked for the Browns after all.

Cripes.  How are you guys going to sound when we're 1-3 or 0-4 in a few weeks?  Toughen up.  How are you so thinned skinned after all we have been through?

Quiz: We have a possible franchise QB right out of college with no oline and crap defense and butter fingers throughout the eligible receivers.

Question: what is the relevant piece of information in the above sentence?

Wasn't last year the rebuilding year? Why rebuild the year after making the playoffs?

Well I think last year was eliminating dead weight and bad contracts. We obviously didn't think we would lose 2 pro bowl caliber OL players as part of the off-season so that was an unexpected issue.

I think there were just too many issues to fix in one year and one off-season. We just need to accept some lumps this year.

FTW.

Stop trading good players for draft picks.

When did we do that

Do you half remember when Kaepernick got benched for Gabbert then proceeded to rack up an 11-24 record.

What would YOU do if your QB threw for 53 yards in an NFL game and your offense was stagnant?

Did you know Tyrod threw for less than 200 yards in 8 of his 14 starts?

I think that Tyrod and McCarron are clearly superior to Peterman. This was my opinion before this game. I don't really think that he belongs in the league.

Somebody made the decision to keep Peterman, get rid of 2 better qbs, and trade the best blocker on the team that already had lost their left guard. Then they decided that he should start. This scenario would seem to be almost unthinkable to me. I think that a 14 year old kid with Directv and a couple of Sports Illustrated Magazines could have made better football decisions.

I guess Josh has to go in. Is there any choice? Now I will watch games hoping he doesn't get killed behind the putrid OL that was foolishly neglected.

Allen needs to play. Peterman doesn’t belong on the active roster. He can’t win a game at QB. A back up needs to have displayed that ability.

McDermott and Beane made a mistake . It isn’t a fatal one.

Allen will play now and hopefully stay healthy for the year. Bills won’t win a ton of games. We get some pass rushers and some o linemen in the draft and FA.

Two years from now Bills will be a very good team.

I eagerly await the opportunity for coach McDermott to watch the game tape
to discern which aspects of the teams performance need to be improved.

I think we just need to be patient........................and trust the process.....................

He can watch the game tape and count the first downs.

Peter King in his weekly appearance on British NFL coverage just called Peterman's starts last year at LA and today "the two worst showings by a Quarterback in recent NFL history."

It’s true.

He’s been incredibly fortunate to get the opportunities that have fallen in his lap to this point.  And he’s botched them horribly.

I hope he doesn’t get any more.

I was just trying to give some positive perspective. It's entirely possible that this team looks completely different by mid-season. If not at least there's hope for the future. Of course, it is still possible that we could just suck for years to come. If it makes you feel better to dwell on that possibility I don't want to take that away from you.

Preaching to the converted. I still think he was fortunate to get drafted.

Mods should shut the board for 24 hours following games to limit the ridiculous snap reactions like my all time favorite from last year (that I started as a snap reaction btw) “McDermott’s Clapping Really Pisses Me Off” it still does fyi

Yeah, we should all really take some time to watch the film before deciding how the Bills performed in this one.

100 million cap space should sign 3 good offensive lineman next year. This team is in 16 game preseason mode. Need to find someone who can catch the ball. How many drops??

The only good having the extra FA money does a team is it makes it possible to "over pay" to get a decent player.

Not surprising this is what these guys are saying to the media; fairly bland and disappointed.  I just wonder what they're really thinking and saying behind closed doors.  In any competitive sport/environment, this is the kind of loss where you question leadership and what you're doing.  The only thing that could ease this type of sentiment is the fact that it is only week 1.

You mean they could play worse next week and make us crown today’s effort as excellent

or maybe by Wednesday this will seem like they lost a squeaker?

It allows them to bring in a few very good FAs.  It also allows them to start building a team through the draft and to actually resign their own good players before they become free agents.  The effects of the dead cap space this season can't be understated.
