With vet QB (Cousins/Keenum/Bradford) Bills will be popular SB Pick in 18

First, I see Cousins either working out a long term deal with Washington or perhaps signing with the Jets... I don't see him as realistically signing here...

I think that Keenum has the most potential upside if we go after a FA... He shouldn't command as much $ as Cousins for example either...

And we wouldn't have to cough up any of our draft picks to sign him either, which is another plus...

The option to trade up is still there if Beane and McD want to "swing for the fences"

I've been a Bills fan for over 40 years, and I'm feeling quite positive about this season.

At the beginning of the season the prevailing opinion was that the team would deliberately tank for a high draft pick.

When they showed signs of being competitive, the prevailing opinion what that they might win seven games if they were lucky.  No way they would make the playoffs.

When they made the playoffs, the prevailing opinion would be that they would lose by a touchdown or more.  In my opinion, they took a team that was significantly better than

they were down to the wire.

I think that this bodes well heading into next season because it shows that McDermott can do quite a lot with minimal talent, and keep a team together that was on the verge of falling apart after the Chargers game.

Now the next test:  what can the team do with a lot of cap space and plenty of picks in the draft?

Agree on all counts.  Well said.

I wouldn't jump on the Keenum train just yet.  I'd want to see him have another year like this so I know it wasn't a fluke.

Bradford would be fine if he wasn't injured so much.

I'd be ok with Cousins, but Alex Smith would be my first choice.

We had a lot of veterans make their absolute best last gasp attempt this year and they got into the playoffs.  Bully for them, but they are on the downhill of their career or even retiring.   The rebuild started last year.  We were lucky last year.  Next year we will be lucky to make the playoffs. Then the future looks better.

The 2017 Dolphins should serve as a cautionary tale in terms of high expectations and disappointment after a first  year head coach gets a team with a playoff drought back into the tourney.

And I still think 2018 has all the makings of a classic 'two steps back' season for the Bills especially with a head coach in McD that has a lot of work to do with his personel evaluation, game decisions and clock management skills.

Please!!! Stop trolling this board.

Dude, if you aren't a Dolphins fan, why on earth do you keep up this narrative that they are this super team? You put them on the Patriots level when they aren't even on the Jets level.

They are garbage led by the two biggest dirt bags in the sport (Landry and Suh).

If you are a Dolphins fan, then you are forgiven.

You forgot the part about them not starting Peterman in 18.

No question cousins would be an improvement, but seeing him play here in DC, I’m telling you.. there is a reason Washington hasn’t gone all in already. Hes got some glaring weaknesses and limitations and this same group of bills fans will be right back to the draft boards looking for better while at the same time suffering a talent vacuum due to of self inflicted cap pain.

What are his "glaring weaknesses and limitations"?  I'd be curious to hear what the people that know about him have to say.

This was a very week 9-7 team though. Other than turnover differential and clutch 50+ yard kicks from Haushcka, this basically a 5-11 or 6-10 team. Carpenter was great his first season with us too and then fizzled out his final two years with us. Turnover differential will more likely than not go down next season. I'm not against bringing in a veteran QB but there are plenty of signs that this team could go 8-8 or even 7-9 next season even with an upgrade at the QB position.

Or, we could go 19-0.
