Top NFL QB Prospects for 2018

I went and scoped some highlights and have come to the conclusion that I was COMPLETELY wrong to doubt this QB class. WOW!

I'm so glad we're not hamstrung by a Watson, Mahomes, Trubisky, etc.

I hope McDermott is as smart as we all hope he is.

I suppose getting an extra first round pick for next year is a good sign.

I wrote that before he was drafted. That won't stop them from getting Darnold. Kizer is a project and should still be in school

Kizer is not a project, he needed another year to develop. I would have preferred he stay at ND one more year, but he didn't. He is capable of starting in 2018.

Seems as though we might need a "2018 NFL Draft Prospects & Discussion" thread.

I got kickers to discuss.

Along these lines Blokes, I don't know if you play Fantasy Football, but in one of my Fantasy Football leagues, each year a guy Drafts TWO Kickers and says, "I need a Kicker for my bench"....the first year we all heard that, we nearly fell on the floor. He's a nice guy but simply cannot make this stuff up....

I only had one team last year but I did draft both Dustin Hopkins and Dan Bailey. I like my matchups week-to-week and it stops someone else grabbing a top player (ended up #5 & #8 in K rankings in my league).

Super Sleeper right now is Jarrett Stidman...If he has a big year at Auburn he can go one-and-done...

Watched him in the Spring game and I was very impressed...We'll see... B-)

Biggest issue for Stidham is going to be sample size. Auburn typically doesn't pass much more than 300 times a season.

There's definitely something about him worth watching and after Wentz/Trubisky going #2 overall, maybe the NFL cares less about that than I do.

If you want to delve into super-duper sleepers - Richmond's Kyle Lauletta and Chattanooga's Alejandro Bennifield might end up close to the Senior Bowl watch list in a few months.

Why is Darold the top guy? 1 season folks that's it. By the draft Baker Mayfield will have three outstanding seasons under his belt including setting the season record for QB rating (2016).

Mason Rudolph is a choke artist. OU kicks his ass everytime they play. He can't be counted on in big games.

Baker Mayfield folks.

And Manning couldn't beat Florida while at Tennessee. What's your point?

I'm not just saying this because I think Rudolph could be talked about as a sure fired first rounder, but this a silly reason not to like a QB, because he can't beat a certain school.

Thats the last guy Id listen too. Hes an idiot

If it's not mcshay, it's the rest of the scouting field that has basically pegged Darnold as the top signal caller coming into the season.

Now, we have seen guys fall from grace before. We have seen guys shoot up from out of nowhere as well.

But mcshay won't be alone in thinking this class is top tier.

Thank you. Very persuasive. I guess I'll cross McShay off my list.

....why?...can still see Beiber McShay's face snickering during the 2007 draft calling Bflo's selection of Lynch at #12 a "reach of a bust".....better one was Brylcream Mel's tussle with Colts' GM Tobin in 1994 for taking LB Alberts vs Dilfer at #5....Tobin was asked about Mel's rant and deadpan said, "who the hell is he?"....classic......these guys are clowns....

I wonder what will it take to get to the 1st overall pick next year. Would both 2018 firsts and the 19 first be enough, or too much. Depending on where the Bills and KC finish off course.

After years/decades of QB futility I think of be ok with breaking the bank for the top pick.

It seems to be trending that way for sure...

Now if teams can learn a little more patience with the small sample size types it may just pay off...If not...Well...Good luck! B-)

And Jonathan Allen to the Skins, and Fournette in the four slot to a team from Florida! Edited by mannc

Hey, for starters, we owe a lot to Mel Kiper. The draft is what it is, in large part because of Mel Kiper. The first to really do what he did, kind of the trailblazer.

Moreover, Mel has been offered jobs by NFL teams.

I mean, clearly some are better than others, but they entertainment value at best. Once people start acting like they are more than that is when things get unhinged.

Not for nothing, there are maybe a handful of people I know that even know about that many prospects on THEIR OWN.

Most fans go off lists compiled by those guys.

There's a lot to like about the QB class. Behind Darnold and Rosen, Mason Rudolph intrigues me the most.

He'd have to learn to play from under center, but Rudolph has a live arm and terrific accuracy! He moves well in the pocket, always keeps his eyes downfield and throws with anticipation.

It looks like I'm going to be watching more college football this year than I have in a very long time.

I have heard he is mentally fragile. Incredible arm talent. But very much hates getting hit. If you draft him for your NFL team you better have an elite NFL line because he takes a few hits he will give up.

Brady 2.0 ?

Darnold is the top guy because he can make plays inside and outside the pocket and his team mates rave about his leadership and bottom line is he is clutch.

I like the Mason Rudolph pick in this early going. Sorry, but I don't want a high 1st round pick on a UCLA warm weather QB that just had shoulder surgery. Darnold is probably the cream of the crop in the early going, however, call me superstitious or just plain crazy, but Carson Palmer is the last USC QB that seemed to fair well in a cold weather city. Also, I like that Mason has the height and the combination of good but not great accuracy with arm capability of those left. Having said that, I like the Josh Allen pick as well based on Pro Style Offense and his size, and lastly, not on the list is University of Washington QB, was PAC-12 Offensive Player of the Year and finished 6th in Heisman voting this year, 43 TD passes this year, sophomore this last year and just 6'2" so far, but looked really promising. Looked pretty bad against Alabama, but except for Clemson, who didn't?? So, I'd keep an eye on him next year and see how it goes....

....don't get to see college ball due to work.....much has been made about 2018 Class being far superior to 2017.......is that still pretty much the consensus?.................

In 2012 everyone was looking at Matt Barkley, Landry Jones, and Geno Smith. EJ went #1 overall. Good job!

Maybe winning in the NFL depends on vets, coaching, and seeing the upcoming trends like 7 man zones and quick passing than getting "excited" over some rookie?

Brady 2.0 ?

No. Brady has been granted special treatment by the NFL. Rosen would have to prove himself before he gets the same treatment. It will never happen since Rosen is closer to Johnny Manziel than Tom Brady. Rosen comes across as a spoiled rich kid prima donna. Brady may rub us Bills fans the wrong way, but you have to admit that he puts in a lot of work. Brady has played his entire career as if he has something to prove. Rosen doesn't seem to have those traits according to many scouts. Edited by DriveFor1Outta5

....FIRST I ever heard of that..........sure the guy is an entertainer first who appears to have done substantial homework through the years about collegians.....kudos for carving out a nice niche for himself....surviving the ESPN purge explains his value to them come draft time.......but there have been plenty of "Mel moments" through the years with the '94 Tobin spat being my favorite.....another one was his drool all over Mandarich as being a "behemoth, a man among boyz" in 1989, who ended up being the "PED Poster Boy"......gotta admit that "Brylcream look" has survived.....

I like them all. Traditional pocket passsers. We haven't had that since Bledsoe. They're definitely the top 5, I would rank then.

1. Rosen

2. Darnold

3. Allen

4. Falk

5. Rudolph

We better stay away from Mayfield (too small) and Jackson (not great from pocket).

Jackson would make a FANTASTIC Wide receiver someday... Best Athlete in college football, period....Sadly, QB for him is OUT... Not a natural position for him at all..
