It's early, but I'll call my shot right now: he needs to be a Buffalo Bill in 2018...perfect fit for McDermott's scheme; reminds me a LOT of Thomas Davis. I forgot how much I adore the guy. Finished up Luke Falk earlier and come out of it really impressed. Still needs to speed up his process and stop walking into pressure but he's definitely on the "potential 1st rounder" list for now. Graded out really well on his 11-20 yard throws. I did a mock draft a couple weeks ago for Yolo and gave Falk to the Bills with the KC pick (Vegas odds, early 20's). JaCrispy Posted May 17, 2017 Share Posted May 17, 2017 (edited) Who does he remind you of? this is a great question...it might sound cliche but Falk reminds me of a combo between Joe Montana and Tom Brady...and no I'm not joking... 1- he doesn't have the strongest arm, yet it is very solid 2- excellent field vision and you can see him going through his progressions 3- good pocket awareness, doesn't always try to escape and run, but rather step up to make a pass 4- cool under pressure- knack for being clutch 5- most accurate passer in college football according to his stats when all is said and done this kid will be a top 10 pick, maybe top 5 if Darnold doesn't declare...count on it...if Mahomes and Trubisky went top 10, Falk is much further along in his development. I'm gonna go out on a limb right now, and predict that by next years draft, Darnold will stay in school, and Falk will be the top QB taken...will he be ready to play right away? maybe, maybe not... But consider this, Mitch Trubisky, who only started 13 games, was taken #2 overall, and one could argue that Falk is a better prospect than him. The defense can always send more players than the offense can block, so in the end, it's the QB's job to beat the pressure. Yes, he'll be surrounded by NFL-level talent at the next level, and that'll mitigate some of the limitations of the situation he's in right now. He also needs to be able to take advantage of the opportunities to hit plays that loosen up defenses--he had those against Washington and didn't always capitalize. The point of focusing on that game is to identify traits that I can track as this season moves forward. The progress that a kid shows in those areas tells me a lot about his potential in the pros. Tom Brady lost to the Giants twice because the pressure they were able to generate. Even the best QBs in the game can struggle when there is enough pressure.
