Eric Moulds on my A**
This. If it costs us a pick - I am ok with it. If he falls to the 5th, pull the trigger.
transient
He's on the list of Bills pre-draft visits. Â Â Â Â Probably just a favor to Jim Kelly.... Â If this is gleaned from the "Pre-Draft Visit" thread, that list posted isn't just pre-draft visits, it's anyone they've had a conversation with. The "SR" next to his name means they talked with him at the senior bowl.
Buffalo Barbarian
Ole Miss Pro Day April 3 He's on the list of Bills pre-draft visits. Â let me fix that for ya Every one said Johnny football is the next John Elway.... Matt Liehart was going to stun the league.... Â Anyone remember the book on Tim Couch... Ryan Leaf? Â Tim Tebow was going to transform the game.... Â Next subject.... Â EJ Manuel has "IT" If we haven't already pulled the trigger on someone else I have a hard time passing on him if he is there in the fifth. Looks like a very talented QB to me. I don't care if he's a little crazy as long as he's not young Richie batsh*t crazy. Â he's not an addict or wife beater so not really concerned about so called issues. All I care about is, is he willing to put in the work. If he is lazy he wont make it. Â Â Here's a list of things he's done in no particular order: Â 1) Kicked off HS team for threatening a teacher (hearsay) 2) The Bar incident with bouncers 3) Swearing at coaches in spring game at Clemson for punting on 4th and short 4) Running on the field at SJ's game to support his brother 5) Texting the backup at Clemson (Cole Stoudt?) that he was coming for his job and that he was #2 for a reason 6) Being at a poker party and using marijuana 7) Parking lot incident involving a fender bender, a teammate and threatening the other party. 8) Texting back and forth with a porn star. 9) Recorded a rap song about himself. Â I really enjoyed watching him play at Ol' Miss. He is hyper competitve to a fault in the societal sense but it works fine on a football field. You do not do what he did against Alabama both times by being a coward or playing scared. I often think about what kind of additional trouble our beloved SB Bills would have gotten into in the age of hyper social media. Â I see him as a better athlete than Jim but with a slighter build. Of all the bad behavior listed above, I think that #5 is the worst in the football/locker room sense. Is he a good teammate or does he act like a jerk there too? That and how coachable he is are the two questions I'd want answered before I used any draft choice on him. I suspect that he is not any worse of a human being than Jim was at that age and that he needs coaches that know how to coddle his ego. Â 7 and 8 don't matter and the rest occurred over two yrs ago, he didn't have these problems at Ole Miss and he wont have them in the NFL

Viewed in isolation, must of this stuff is youthful stupidity and/or no big deal. It's the pattern of behavior that is the problem. Â I think the kid probably is a punk, but I like his arm talent and I love his compete. I would be fine with drafting him (at a reasonable spot) if for no other reason than to push Cardale. Of course, the other consideration is that it would be oh-so-Billsy for us to pass on the kid and then have him play well for a rival. Â Â if Kelly's junior and senior seasons were switched he would be the number one prospect hands down, not even a question. He would be number one this yr if it wasn't for old news about bad behavior. Same thing holds true for Kizer. Flip his 2015 and 2016 seasons and he might have gone first overall. Southern Bills Fan
I say in every Chad Kelly thread that while living in Mississippi, I have seen practically every one of his games, even junior college. There will be no in between with Chad Kelly. He will either mature and become a pro bowl QB as that is where his talent level is, or he will be Manziel 2.0 and out of the league in 2 years. But if anyone thinks that no team will take a chance in the late rounds of the draft for that kind of talent then your kidding yourself.

But, it seems that it happened after the knee injury ended his college career prematurely so maybe he was out of in-season "good boy" mode. And I think that is the #1 recreational drug of choice in the NFL for those that choose to have one.  And it does seem like he does have an inseason good boy mode. In the off season he has too much free time on his hands.
MOBSTER
If you think Chad Kelly will somehow drop to the 5 round then you are sadly mistaking.  Quarterback are on every teams radar. Some team will take the gamble and suck him up by the end of round 3  Sure he made a few mistakes but these are young men. Lots of players get in trouble but the team protects them and it goes unreported.  If you really, really like him then the Bills better outsmart a few NFL teams.  Me, I grab him in the 3rd and never look back....I believe he is a 1st rounder that lost his way. I can live with a 3rd round mistake  Could be the steal of the draft even in the 3rd   Whole heartedly agree. This organization is better off taking him and not having it work than missing on him and he becomes a pro bowler etc. It would be huge blunder not worth the agony. Â When it comes to the sheer physical athletic aspects of playing the position, he can hold his own against anyone in the draft. Â I don't think he'll be Manziel 2.0 as he doesn't have the issues with alcohol that Manziel had during and after college; not to mention other substances later on. Â His is strictly a maturity and/or character issue. One that has gotten him in trouble at some point every step of his career. And that trouble at Clemson, his biggest black mark, is the reason he was denied admittance to the combine and continues to haunt him. It's my understanding the staff there really dinged him when talking to scouts. People mature but their characters seldom change over time. Â But if that does happen with him, some team is going to get a steal in the draft.

starrymessenger
He just doesn't impress me and the off field stuff is a big red flag. I've only seen him play half dozen times or so but I was impressed with him. Agree about the flags but he is a red ass ballplayer on the field and I really like that competitive spirit. It may be two sides of the same coin but if he can grow up a bit shed the flags and keep the will to win he looks to me like a really good prospect. To me a fifth would be a very good risk/reward profile. I will be interested to see where he goes.

I'm all for drafting QBs as often as possible and if we took Kelly I would root for his success like every other Bills QB. I just question how committed he'll be to the grind of an NFL starting QB. Bubba Gump
Maybe a couple of years hanging around Ritchie will straighten him out. He gets cocky in the locker room, RI might end his career early.
